Watching this at 1:23 am as I go thru a career crisis lol. Trying to finish all my prereqs before applying to nursing school this fall. Growing up I’ve watched Criminal Minds and NCIS and wanted to find a profession that involved law & science and help people too. Your video’s so spot on. Thanks for sharing your story!! I’m definitely following your journey! Good luck in your career! :) (and also noticed the Ph flag hanging behind you. Filipino gang ✊🏼)
I left a career in Finance and recently graduated a 1 yr accelerated BSN program. Listen to your heart and know that anything is possible with determination and smart-work. 😉
Thank you for this video, I felt this on a personal level, I am currently in my second semester of nursing school and I have always wanted to bring my interests of forensics and nursing together. I kept going back and forth whether to switch to crime science or if to keep on pursuing nursing and specializing in forensics, since forensic nursing is my ultimate goal! I do not like the bed-side and Ive too always wanted to help victims and patients in a different way! I will certainly keep on watching for updates :))))
Aww, well I wish you the best of luck with whatever route you decide to pursue! The amazing thing with nursing is that we can help people in a variety of ways and not just the bedside! You got this, and good luck in nursing school!
Hey! I’m a non-traditional nursing student considering Forensic Nursing because it has always been interesting to me. THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS!!! Please keep going and give us more videos on your journey!!!! Best Wishes.

I'm interested in death investigation; I'm currently working on a MedSurg floor and will finish my BSN in May. Can you tell me what I need to do to go that route (death investigator) MSN right?
Thank you for this video! I was also interested and obsessed with criminal minds and relevant shows. As a little kid I wanted to pursue nursing but now I am more interested in becoming a forensic scientist. But now with this career as a forensic nurse, it is really interesting. Would you think Majoring in nursing and minor in forensic science could allow me to have this career or would it be necessary to get a masters in forensic science? Btw great video!
Typically to get into the forensic side, you'll have to get a masters specifically with a forensic specialty. As of right now, I actually am working as a Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Examiner/Investigator (SAMFE) with the military. Just gotta keep your eyes open for the right opportunity!
I worked under a PI doing medical insurance claims part time for about 2.5 years. After that they were able to sign off all the paperwork to confirm my work and get me authorized to test!
hey just a quick question I am currently in nursing school. And I want to get in to like forensic sciences, like more of the lab and research base things after I complete my degree but I don't really know how to accomplish that, do you have any recommendations?
I would definitely recommend going for your masters in forensic nursing following your bachelors. Even if you want to go strictly into the lab and research section, dipping your feet into the nursing aspect and progressively inching your way into the lab via networking would be great as it gives you the ability to explore while still getting a paycheck!
