Hey Dude! Awesome video, love your humor! I’m registered for Power Wagons in Moab 2020! Sad we had to move it to later in the year due to the corona virus. Can’t wait to meet you guys in person eventually! Cheers from Salt Lake City! 🍺

@@OffroadTreks Anytime man, let me know if you are ever in the Salt Lake area. We could meet up. Also, have you ever done a comparison on your gas mileage being in 4WD High vs. 2WD High? I did in my Jeep twice, and it was almost the exact same on the same loop. Just some food for thought, if installing this was just to save gas mileage. I know our Power Wagons are pigs on gas, I am running basically stock still and can't seem to get much better than 12 mpg. I've heard the 2019's and newer with the 8 speed transmissions got a 25% increase in gas mileage and now get 16 mpg...

@@stantontucker1812I agree and been saying it for a while. Ya that 8 speed really spaces the shifts closer, keeping that 6.4 in it's sweet spot. I had a 2015 Ram 1500 ecodiesel with factory air bags and, well, it blew me AWAY what it could tow, and that 8 speed was flawless. I'd heard that the 8 speed was in 1000 horse cars over in Europe so why wouldn't it handle that 6.4 2500, I said. When it finally showed up in these newer trucks I new it would be a trouble free hit. I do love my 16 PW but REALLY wish it's 6spd shift points were closer and more evenly timed. The 6 spd has some really wide spaced, doggy, weird sounding shifts that don't help the motor pull in it's sweet spot.

@@bobvincent4841 Totally agree with you Bob, do you think you will be upgrading to a newer truck with the 8 speed? I am seriously considering it. I love my 17' PW, but can't seem to stop thinking about the 16 mpg of the 2019's and newer. Especially given mine is a daily driver

@@stantontucker1812 , Is love to upgrade but that oilfield bucked me out of it's saddle hard enough that I'm still looking for my wallet lol

Legit man. Just need to know when I can come and have you show me what the heck I'm doing! Otherwise, my truck wouldn't turn on. Me and install with things like this, not so much bro....

one other thing if you bypass the knob do you get any service lights on your lockers saying something is wrong with the system i have a 2016
@OffroadTreks
@OffroadTreks 7 месяцев назад
No the knob never gives an error message. It's becuase the unit is still connected and plugged in. So it thinks the plunger is there.

I was hoping for something to block mud from splashing up onto the face of the engine.

I've been looking for a good solution to bypass Rams idiot nob thanks! On another note is that still your '15? If so what grill are you running? I've been looking everywhere for a decent upgrade to get rid of my chrome cross hairs. Everything I've come across is "not compatable with power wagon"

So after doing this Abel swaybar bypass and the manual locker wiring, which would you choose, manual wired, or Abel Components?
@OffroadTreks
@OffroadTreks 3 года назад
I prefer manual bypass on the lockers. Instant on off. And I can activate them separately. Using Abel's might be less work, but the knob only has rear and rear + front. When I want just the front, I can have just the front. Which surprisingly works well.
@liljohn309

So doing this and the locker bypass you don’t use the factory switches anymore
@OffroadTreks
@OffroadTreks 3 года назад
Nope.
@liljohn309
@liljohn309 3 года назад
@@OffroadTreks so u still use them ,that is what I want
@OffroadTreks
@OffroadTreks 3 года назад
@@liljohn309 nope, I don't use them at all. Nor would I want to. That dial has two options, rear or rear + front. Plenty of times in Moab where I engaged the front alone to get up something. This is all faster than even the bypass Abel sells for the locker to let you use the factory switch. Since it's direct control of the locker itself and bypassing all electronics and safety checks. Of course, I suppose you could be a moron and press the button while cruising down the highway at 70. But I haven't done that yet.

@@OffroadTreks got you, i’m going to purchase the Abel kit I wanna use the dash switch. I don’t off-road much but like the ability to do that and how fast they engage disengage I try to do it once and it took forever without the kit. I do have the ATE gauge pod I think they make a provision of the kit with a safety switch I can just get that version and put the safety switch in the AEv pod..I wish I can go to Moab but I’m in Georgia

Is there a after market skid plate for the front bumper chin which provides some shielding for the under belly of the engine bay?
@OffroadTreks
@OffroadTreks 4 года назад
Nah, It's a solid axle vehicle. So you wouldn't run a skid down like you would on an IFS, nor is there any worry about hitting anything there. As the axle is the skid. Behind the axle, the transmission pan and oil pan are exposed. I dented my transmission pan in Moab one summer. There is a skid plate for those at Dethloffmfg.com

Mine is different as I have the original prototype just like my Rack is the first one of those ever built. Mine is actually about two inches shorter. The new ones are improved based on my feedback and testing in Moab.
