i don't think i've ever left a youtube comment before. i'm from nyc, born and raised, but have been living abroad for the past few years. i'll resettle in nyc eventually, but right now all i can do is quietly pine for home... thank you for your own little love letter to our city. even through all the miles it's reminded me of my connection to a place that's truly special.
I also enjoyed this vlog, quite cool - I've never been to NY, I always expected it to be loud and fast, I never thought that such a metropolis could be gentle.
I recently visited NYC on a school trip all the way from Yorkshire in England... and for me, the sheer size was overwhelming. They call it the city that never sleeps and that really is true. Never in my life have I been in a place where it is almost impossible to experience complete silence. To me, who is used to seeing fields, corner stores and country lanes... NYC is a terrifying as it is beautiful. And considerable amounts of both.
I've seen a few of the BBB entries in the past couple of days and I must say, this is by far one of the best I've seen. I hope you get it! Your travel vlogs are brilliant and I LOVE your narration. It makes me smile and really miss nyc :)

I was in New York last week! I totally forgot you were there. For a long time, the thought of living there freaked me out because I don't like the idea of feeling lost in my environment. But I guess as I visit more, I'm warming up to the idea. Voted. Duh.
I love Ratatat, especially Loud Pipes. That feeling you get when you find out somebody you respect and admire likes the same things you do is really great. Maybe you should do a vlog about that.
It's impossible to talk about being "That kind of person" when New York is so massive and as such has so many people and must therefore have so much diversity.
Moved to NYC this year and I had all kinds of misconceptions about the city. I had this idea of a stereotypical New Yorker and assumed I wouldn't fit in. But your video really sums it up. The beauty of NYC is that it contains every type of person. There are places here that make you feel like you're in another country. But, just like anywhere your neighborhood begins feeling like home in no time.
You need to see Melbourne. It is all the things of New York you described, the prism by which humanity is viewed; on the surface it seems one way but as always, there are special things secreted away down alleys, in old buildings, at 3am on Tuesday morning (with coffee).
Grew up in Brooklyn, am in Maryland now. When people say that I assume they mean the media image of NYC. Growing up there, I can't imagine what people in say Iowa think of NYC having only seen it in endless movies and TV shows.
I would love to be a part of New York. People who visit my city(Calgary) say it 'feels' like New York in places, but much smaller. We have food trucks too. Hundreds of them.

I'd love to hear more about New York from you. I've been longing to move there for so long. I'll mention it to my friends and coworkers sometimes, and they always say that they couldn't live there and that they aren't that kind of person.
I travel, right now I live in Italy because I am stationed here through the navy. I have been to so many major cities. But I would love to live in NYC.

I get why people like it there but to me it would be too much. I prefer to be in more natural areas. So a good example of what NYC is to you would be Olympic national park for me. There is beauty in being able to actually seeing the stars at night and hearing wolves in the distance.

I don't want to be the person that drops the poop here, but what would make this interesting is if you tried to look at it in the point of view to those who live in small town and cities to try and explorer those views. Because yeah I totally understand that to you it's an amazing place, just like the city I live in may be boring is sometimes interesting, but other times I try to explorer the feelings, views, and perspectives I am missing out, and that itself is an amazing journey.
When I hear people talk about NYC, it bothers me the way they talk about it like it's the only place in the world that things happen. They seem like they blot it out of their mind that just as much can be happening on the other side of the country, or like the things that happen elsewhere are somehow less real because they are happening outside of this bubble that when you think about it compared to the rest of the world is actually quite small.
