Something particularly unique about the summer season here is that there is plenty of fog. Fog season in San Francisco typically lasts from April to October, with August, also known as "Fogust", being the peak month. The fog's unique microclimate can cause big temperature differences between coastal and inland areas.
This fog has been sweetly pet named “Karl” by Bay Area natives. So anytime it gets foggy, the locals say that Karl came to visit.
