Hi Janice! Thank you for the video! I’m in my first year school psych program in Manhattan. It’s so interesting to learn about the internship experience.
i'm so glad i came across your channel! im in my first year in my school psych program in queens and these videos are so insightful and makes me excited for the rest of my program!
Thank you for staying on my channel ! (: I almost applied for the queens program. They’re so similar! If you have any questions you can tweet or DM me on Instagram @janiceann96 . Have a good day! Good luck on finishing your first year!
Hey! I apply for practicum next month and I'm excited! I'm in a PsyD Clinical Psychology program. I'm not sure if I want to work in hospitals, schools, outpatient, or inpatient. Also, if I would prefer kids or adults. I'm looking forward to starting and gaining experience! That's really cool that you are seeing everything combine together and finding your passion! I'm not sure if I will like therapy or assessments more.
At first I thought I would only like the therapy aspect - but turns out, I like both. Even during assessments, we are interacting with the client (whether child/adult), and helps build a connection. Once you start your practicum you'll truly get a rush and you'll know you're in the right place. Even though I'm doing mine remotely due to COVID, I still feel like I am learning so much. Good luck on your journey - keep me updated (:
Hey, I'm in nj, just a bridge away from Brooklyn. Im going to enter my internship year soon, I was wondering if the internships in Brooklyn pay a stipend or salary? In NJ, they don't at all
Some of them do, most of them do not. I tried to save as much as I could the past three years while working but I will be applying for a stipend through my college, regardless of what internship site I choose. I heard NJ is more likely to pay - a few people who were previous interns went to NJ and were paid
Hi! I start practicum on the 23rd and was wondering if you have any advice to help with anxiety? My grad school selects the school we’ll be working at for us so I haven’t even met my supervisor yet and have never worked in a school setting. I have a ton of nerves and can’t relate with any of my cohort members because they all came from a school background! Any advice would be greatly appreciated (:
Hi! First of all, congratulations on starting practicum next week! My program also placed me for practicum, and I also experienced a lot of anxiety going into it. However, one of the most important things to remember is you are there to learn. You do not need to know the answer to every question, or scenario. There’s also usually not just one right answer. As someone with anxiety too, I put pressure on myself to know everything. But, admitting that you don’t know everything opens up doors where you can feel comfortable asking questions. Your supervisor is there to guide you every step of the way. Also, bring a notepad with you. Even though my practicum was online I was very attentive during meetings and took notes so I could ask my supervisor questions after. Good luck! Hey actually I am a 1st year student for BSc Psychology (in India). I wish to apply for my MSc in UK. I have some doubts like ?! Are there internship/placement programs after MSc ?! Is there a scope for clinical psychologists ?! Is the job market very narrow ?! Or is it good ?! Im really scared !!
Its actually 3 years late, but im starting my practicum tomorrow at a primary school and i was wondering if you have tips for, im stressed because I feel like i wont know what to do
Hi! It’s very normal to feel anxious. But practicum is the time for observing, learning, and then applying what you’ve learned. Remember to ask questions as they come up, and that you’re prepared and equipped to be there. Good luck 😊
Hi! I really enjoyed your video. Is there anyway I can ask a few questions about your program? I’m currently a junior completing my undergrad, and I’m also interested in doing school psychology! Please let me know :)
I'm so sorry I never saw this comment until now. Of course you can ask me as many questions as you need! Please feel free to DM me on Twitter - @janiceann96
Hi!! I love your videos. I am a recent graduate about to apply to masters programs in School Psych. I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions? I am actually looking to apply to Brooklyn (live on LI)
