I actually wrote a paper about Spirited Away in college and how it’s a very deep metaphorical retrospective of different phases/ideologies Japan went through from the post-war era til the 90s represented by the various characters/spaces that Chihiro encounters. The ending message really applies to anyone though that an understanding of the past gives much insight and confidence on how to move forward. After her journey, Chihiro emerges able to critically evaluate and make decisions for herself with a newfound understanding of both the good and bad from her experiences. Haku tells her, however, "Don't look back" so she won't necessarily cling to her old self and can face her new life ahead (which based on the last line of the film she’s ready to embrace). Side note: have fun with Ephesians! I tend to find Bible Studies more engaging in conversational settings so hopefully your in-person meeting is more engaging

all the characters in spirited away are relatable it makes it kinda scary/melancholic to watch TT

Almost forgot to comment. Spirit away was the coming of age story I didn't get till I was older kek. I didn't know you were a bleach fan. Also Impel down is the best op arc and it goes down hill from there kek.
