I only had a quick look round the museum on this day, lots to see in there I will go back for a proper look one day. You may not know wood from metal but he does not know old coins LOL Not a pound coin a three penny bit.

@@theiconicgeek Well it was a long time ago we changed over We never had a pound coin A pound was not small change in those days. The one you pointed to first A half crown = 2shillings and sixpence 2/6d. That's pounds definitely is three pence 3d. Thats a 2p is a ha'penny = half a penny. Thats a one pence is a farthing = quarter penny. I do not remember those they were even before my time LOL 5 pence is a silver three penny which is also before my time and replaced by the brass colour one. Twenty pence is a sixpence = 6d half a shilling. We had 12 pennies in a shilling 20 shillings in a pound so 240 pennies in a pound. Oddly the bigger size coins were worth less than the smaller ones in those days.
