I was a Better Help therapist for a little over a year in addition to my private practice and teaching work. I did it because it was very flexible and I wanted to learn more about working virtually at the time (it was pre-pandemic). I met wonderful people and had a great experience, however I must say, there were times it was frustrating because the compensation for therapists is not great. As I mentioned, I chose it for the flexibility and there are pro's and con's with everything. I'm glad you spoke to shopping around for someone you feel you can work with, it should be a dialogue and partnership!
Yes, I went from social work to life coaching / intuitive development, fostering mind body connections. I have so much more freedom now, and far fewer restrictions- no more hierarchies!
Hi Michel, so happy to hear that you’ve been having a great therapy experience. As a therapist myself, I can’t help but be disappointed about the partnership with Better Help for so many reasons on both sides for therapists and clients. Please reconsider your partnership with this company.
In my humble opinion, there is a massive difference between online therapy services and in-person therapy at a reputable counseling center. I have found results with working through severe anxiety with a well matched therapist for my personality type in person. I echo the sentiments of other commenters to invest in you! You are what matters most. Spend your hard earned money on results. ❤️ as to grapefruit, consult your pharmacist if you take rx medications. It can be deadly to mix grapefruit with a large variety of medications.
Agreed! BetterHelp is also a pretty shady company--they sell users' data (which feels super icky when it's a therapy platform) and I believe also treat their therapists pretty poorly. For anyone interested in starting therapy, please choose another means! If you're looking for a therapist who accepts your insurance, psychology today can be a good place to start
Hand sewing can be therapeutic, but that might be a difficult first project. You can pick up a fusible product-Heat’n bond light, Steam a Seam or the like at your local JoAnn fabric store. You iron it to the wrong side of your fabric, remove the paper, place the fused fabric on your main fabric, fusible side down and press, until it fuses-follow the directions on the pkg. the fusible will stop the fabric you attach to the main fabric from fraying. They make a tape version which would be handy to fold over the sides, hem, and rod pocket and fuse into place to finish the edges…. Good luck!
Honestly, dawn dish soap has gotten out every single oil stain (and other stains) I’ve ever gotten on any garment. Even if it’s a stain I didn’t notice right away and it either sat for a few days or even been washed a few times before using the soap, it still works like magic and I use it all the time now
hope you're doing better! sidenote - your videos are my therapy... i work pretty long hours and always look forward to your videos during my lunch break or when i get home :)
I hope you’re feeling better. One of the vloggers that I recently subscribed to is Caroline Winkler. She lives in DC, does lifestyle, home decorating, organizing, etc. She is known to throw out a swear word now and then which I’m okay with but mentioning it just as a warning.
Sorry you're not feeling well. Prayers for your recovery. Just a thought about your TV cover project. Have you thought about using fusible webbing and ironing the fabric into place? Employees from fabric store will be able to answer any questions you may have. A lot faster than sewing, especially if you don't normally sew.
Currently my husband, daughter and I have Covid too 😬 The good thing is I've been able to watch lots of YT! Hope you feel better and get over this quickly!!
Hot up home depot and get a window shade assembly or Roman shade assembly. Use that for the basis of the tv tapestry shade that way you don't have remove it just cinch it up.
Did anyone else have an epiphany when Jacqueline said she was going to “hijack the vlog”….that should be her vlog name (if she ever really started one)! “Hi-jacq, the vlog” no? Okay bye.
The thing with testing, you can test positive for several weeks but not be contagious, so check with your doc on when you are safe to travel, otherwise you could be locked up in your house and not need to be.
Whenever you get oil or oily food on your clothing immediately put Dawn Dish Soap in it and on the opposite side of the fabric turned inside out. Use a good amount. Now let it sit a full 24 hours minimally and then wash them. Check if anything is still left on them and if so do the same process again. Do not dry them until it’s gone.
I enjoyed the vlog Michel and I hope that you have a good recovery from covid also It was fun hanging out with you in quarantine and being a quarantine buddy with you
Garden tip for your mom: pick the flowers off of your basil because the more they grow the bitter they taste which is harder to use for pesto and other dishes if you want the normal basil taste.
I tested positive on the 18th too for the second time in 2022. I was actually pretty sick this time around and still don’t have my taste or smell back yet, which is super upsetting! Hope you are all recovered now and back to normal!
I will echo what others have said in that I’m so happy you found a great therapist for you. However, BetterHelp is not a great company for those of us who are therapists. They underpay their clinicians, they sell user data, AND they’ve now stolen therapist data and make listings under our names, pretending we are on BetterHelp when we aren’t and drive business using our names to their site. :( Many social workers are trying to get a class action lawsuit together to get BetterHelp to stop false advertising using our own data. These larger companies are exploiting us - tiny private practices, small business owners and it is so frustrating that no one outside the industry realizes how awful this is for the quality of mental health services and us being able to bargain for fair compensation from insurance companies. :(
BRAIN FOG IS REAL !! hugs GIRL ..i just got over it ! lasted like a month-5 weeks before i had energy again.so do not RUSH GETTING BETTER ! literally chill.. i watched tik tok & you tube til i thought id go nuts.. every time i thought i was good NOPE
I am so sorry you got COVID. But it seems that you got through it without any complications. You are young and healthy which helped, I'm sure. Love you. Stay healthy!
My previous husband had an affair and we tried marriage counseling but we just couldn't get back what we had. I did end up going to therapy on my own and what really helped was doing group therapy with other women who experienced similar circumstances. You may ask your therapist if they know of any groups for women going through this in your area. Believe me I know exactly how you feel. I was in deep depression for 6 months, quit my job, lost 50 pounds, my hair starting falling out, and even though I had interested men I was hesitant to date for awhile. It just takes time but dating is the best thing but don't rush into anything serious for awhile but enjoy yourself.
My husband and my mother both died the same year. I woke and found him, widowed at 41 with our 5 kids and 2 more fostered children, and 4 weeks later my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I couldn't eat and could barely function with grief. More than half my hair just fell out on clumps. Then shortly after, one best friend died, leaving her 11 yr old orphaned and my other best friend was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. I ended up at the doctors needing medication, diagnosed with complicated grief, PTSD, severe depression and anxiety, never having mental health issues prior to my husband's death, but everyone has a breaking point. We can only take so much before we have to seek physical and emotional help for a hand up out of the darkness. People ask when I am going to date. I have no interest. My husband will always be my other half, but even if I did eventually want to, I have to relearn how to breathe and live first.
Next time you're sick, let yourself take time off from vlogging! You've gotta let your body rest when it's asking for it ♥️ I know it's hard to let go of the money you could be making, but you're not living paycheck to paycheck, you can give yourself sick time off!
@@chrissiedcohen unfortunately when we're healing we may use co-dependencies in an unhealthy way, sometimes finding your independence is the hardest but best way to heal
@@meaganm7918 this may be true for some, but it cannot be generalized for all. I’ve been a licensed social worker practicing in the behavioral health field for 24+ years. We always begin or meet the client where they are in their journey. At the end of the day, we each need to make decisions that feel authentic to ourselves as we grow, learn, & heal. 💕
I had it in may just 3 weeks before my vacations and again in July 2nd a half weeks before my other vacation. But both time no fever just a lot of coughing, didn't lost my taste either. And both my vacations I was feeling very well at least. Both times the symptoms were different, but both time I tested positive. Hopefully you will get better soon.
I know this was probably filmed a lil bit ago but hope you’re feeling better. For grease spots the best product I’ve ever used is Stanley Original Degreaser but you can also use regular Dawn dish soap. Put enough to cover the grease spots and work it into the fibers front and back. Let it set at least 10-15 minutes or until your ready to wash it. It won’t hurt most fabrics. Then wash as you normally would. It’s best to do before it’s washed and dried but I’ve done it after I noticed it out of the dryer and still works.
Hope you feel better soon Michel! I also had covid this time last year and was un bed for almost 3 weeks. Take it easy ..sending you healing and love ❤ 😍
I have a cure for your clogged ears that really works. If you have a waterpic system, I fill the reservoir with warm water and a dash of peroxide and use the waterpic device to squirt the water into my ears. I am always shocked at how much debris gets washed out. It's better than a qtip because you aren't compressing the wax further into your ear.
Oh Sweetie, you are handling Covid and quarantine so well! Way to be productive! Covid sucks, I'm a teacher and have had it twice now. first time I had it I was laid out...it was horrendous! Then after two vaccines and two boosters, I got it again, but it wasn't nearly as bad. I am celiac, too, that's how I found you years ago, so be careful even with medicines. You are doing awsome! But, you keep doing what makes you feel better--therapy included! So good for all of us! Prayers sent up for you!
I sure hope your feeling better Michel, having this illness sucks, get as much rest as your body needs and eat healthy as best you can and stay hydrated. Those are the things that helped me. I have an illness that on bad days I’m unable to get out of bed and what helps me feel better and not think about the pain is putting on a bit of makeup and a nice lip color…I know this sounds crazy but that and cute pjs or robe pick up my spirits. Oh and can I give a big shout out to your awesome boyfriend Jordy think about you and getting you tested at home and sending you sushi….he is great and a good guy. I have one of those and we’ve been married for 48 yrs.
Oh no! Michel, I am so sorry you have covid again! You are seriously the most productive person I know while having covid, though. When I had covid, all I did was sleep and watch RU-vid from my bed. Hang in there and feel better. ♡
I just had Covid - literally the day I came home from vacation- still was able to work but little energy and had a couple days of fever and lots of congestion
Better help is a tech company first and mental health provider second. Underpaid and overworked therapists! Please influences stop supporting this company !
Michel if you are going to hand stitch that heavy fabric I suggest you get a tapestry needle and a thimble. you will need both the needle is heavier with larger eye and the thimble will save your finger!
For your fabric piece, if you wanted something warmer, you could take the left over lighter fabric and try to die it. Love the idea to cover your tv, so cool.
Home is where you feel safest, Michel. Perhaps you getting sick at your parents home is a way your body & soul gets to be taken care of. Perhaps this is an opportunity to Re-frame this repeated experience into: I Take care Of Myself when I maintain Balance of rest, self-care & setting volgging/visiting boundaries. Just a thought I wanted to share.
Hey Michel! I just wanted to say that you are such an inspiration for me and I am so blessed to watch your day to day life! Thank you for always being such a light in this world! Your vlogs are always so entertaining and encouraging! I hope that you're feeling better and that you can go into society again soon! Ilysm and happy Saturday and I love all your uploads!
I tested positive on Wednesday and I’ve been living for mottled plumcots that you recommended in your last video. They’re so refreshing and delicious, which is perfect for this covid girl! Thank you and I hope you’re feeling better. ☺️
Hope you’re feeling better beautiful lady. Just said to my other half after the intro ‘she said she gets sick when she goes home now she has covid bless her!’ X
There might be a way to rig your tapestry up as a Roman shade, so you don't have to actually take it down when you want to watch TV. I think it could still hang on a simple rod and have some rings unobtrusively sewn on the back for cords.
This was stated so kindly. ❤️ I think a lot of people would appreciate her addressing her exes criminal charges, simply because they occurred while they were together and many of us have supported her in one way or another - be it watching her videos, buying her clothes, using affiliate links, etc. It would be a sigh of relief to know she was not aware of the charges until recently, although that would be terrible to discover as well. Sending good wishes. ❤️
I didn't know he had criminal charges.? I must have missed that somewhere. I'd like to know too but I don't know if asking her would work out . She may say that it's his story to tell and that it's personal. I'm not very happy with that young male thing ( not calling him a man because I'm pissed at him) for hurting her, and hope he has to go to jail, but I really don't think asking her will end well for those who ask her. Good luck if you do ask her. I do wonder if it has anything to do with him throwing that hammer at her or if he put his hands on her. If he did, he deserves everything he gets and I really hope he gets time.
This past week has been been incredibly shocking and painful for a lot of people connected to my ex, brook smith. I’ve been finding out many details about him that I was completely unaware of, that he hid from me-including a minimum of 10 affairs that happened during our relationship. This was yet another thing he lied to me about and manipulated me into not knowing. I do want to say, this crime happened before we met, and he was charged we were dating-which he successfully hid from me. When I started to have suspicious of something going on, he twisted the story and gaslit me into believing blatant lies, (just like he has with our entire relationship, to over 10 other women, and to several employers). I’m just now getting into contact with the girls and employers involved in this incident to try and learn information myself. On behalf of all the girls that have been destroyed by this man including myself, I ask for you to please respect my mental health as I find these answers. I will do my best to release a statement when it feels appropriate, but NOT before I make sure to protect all the women involved. This has been a whirlwind of grief, betrayal and hurt. I want to make sure that I learn everything I can before sharing other people’s stories here. I just want to remind you, real lives were destroyed by this man. Including mine.
@@zaelzavala6928 I don’t know what charges you’re talking about, but she doesn’t owe you an explanation for anything. They’re divorced now and whatever he may or may not have done is over and she is moving on. Let the girl be. If she knew about whatever, then you’re asking her to relieve something that she may not want to. And if she didn’t know about it, then you want her to what? Get on camera and be traumatized for your benefit? Leave her alone. Even though she overshares a lot of things, she’s still allowed and entitled to keep things private.
When I saw the title of your video I thought about how you had just said you seem to get sick every time you’re home! Heal fast:-) I love vintage fabric and I’m so happy to see you finding fabulous vintage clothing and fabric for your project. I restore vintage and antique quilts and use only fabric from the era of the quilts (late 1800’s through 1960’s). I have a friend who is a costume designer and she once explained why the older material is so much better, something about thread count (I don’t remember exactly 🤷🏼♀️). Anyway, get well soon 💕
Fredericksburg is close to where XO, Macenna is. You should give her channel a try. She’s been renovating a 100 year old house pretty much on her own. She does a ton of DIYs. It’s pretty awesome and I think you’d like her style.
I hope by now you are feeling much better. For your project, might I suggest using Stich Witchery by Dritz or another product called Wonder Under. I believe both are available at Hobby Lobby. You can hem your fabric pieces with an iron and this fusible web tape. You can also fuse the hemmed pieces to the main body fabric. You could still do a decorative stitch over top if desired. Have a great weekend!
OHHH MANNN... if your plan is to learn hand sewing on layers of denim thick fabric.... I STRONGLY suggest you try it first on something else. And you will absolutely need some kind of thimble to push the needle through those fabrics. And you should just skip the sticky pad kind. Fabric that thick is actually exactly the kind you NEED a machine for, if you have access to one. There are needles for sewing machines that are made specifically for denim type fabrics and you need those. They're designed to punch through without breaking as easily. Some machines are not designed to handle denim type fabrics, but that doesn't mean you can't use them for that. It just means it shouldn't be done often unless you're fine servicing said machine a lot. I used mine for 8 years on extremely thick fabric, that it absolutely was not designed to handle and it still works fine. It's gone in servicing a lot, and if I'd known when we bought it what it's primary use would be, I'd have picked a different one, absolutely. But I didn't, so I didn't. Hand sewing is a wonderfully meditative art form and you may enjoy it. But this project shouldn't be your first one for that. You're definitely better off getting the heavy fabric needle and using the machine. (For a bigger project you'd want the heavy thread too, but something this small and a one time project you should be fine with general all purpose thread.)
Oh bless you.... thank you for still coming along and vlogging...and I wish you well as soon as possible...but maybe it's also not good to rush health....let your body tell you..when you are feeling better..x take care. X 😊💐
I had Covid about a week before you. It’s going around so bad. Hope you’re feeling better now. I’m feeling better but still a bit low on energy and having to go real slow with exercise.
Hope you are already feeling better. You're in my prayers. For the redness from your staff infection you could try 111skin 3 phase anti blemish booster /anti imperfections. I used it for a red area on my face and It was gone in days. I now use it to heal blemishes faster too Not the cheapest product but works wonders. Blessing's.
So sorry you're sick! 🤢 I have a great tip for getting oil out of clothes: Carbona Stain Devils #5 for fat and cooking oil stains (The one in the yellow bottle). Once I pulled down a container of oil and I thought the lid was on but... I got about a pint of oil spilled all down my shirt and in my hunt for something to save it I found this Carbona product. I know a lot of people who use it and love it, too. How this helps you or someone else! I swear by this stuff and have used it many times.
