i’m taking this video as my sign to get my symptoms checked out after pushing it off for so long! i think the main issue is i hate when the doctor just brushes off what you say and then doesn’t do anything - that’s kinda been the issue i’ve been experiencing. love the vlog as always ❤

I’m usually a silent watcher, but I wanted to say, I had tendinitis during my senior year of college and with time, wearing a brace, and some PT, I am pain free two years later! I only have flare ups sometimes when I use that wrist for super strenuous activities for long periods of time. There is always hope, you won’t have this pain forever! ❤ wishing you a speedy recovery!!

I’m surprised they didn’t have you wear the brace because not having pain gives you a false sense of security that it’s OK and you don’t want to re-injure it. also taking Advil to get rid of inflammation and icing it will help it heal as well

I had the same experience with an urgent care - they told me I didn't have a herniated disc in my lower back and then found out much later that I actually did in my L4/L5/SI and it got worse since It was untreated for so long. Always trust your gut and get a second opinion.

Soph idk if this will help you at all but I was in your physical health condition last year and now I’m 100% fixed and it just killed me to hear you talk about yourself in regards to putting things off/blaming yourself for your injuries. I had the same experience with urgent care saying no breaks on my x ray, but it was my foot, 6 months later it led to a extruded l5 disc and then a YEAR later I was given spine surgery to fix all my issues - yours won’t get as bad as mine mine became a snowball effect of problems but it takes a long time to get things done medically and I know the boat you’re in rn. Im glad you’re not broken I hope the tendonitis heals whether steroids or surgery ❤️‍🩹

Hey Soph. I'm an Occupational Therapist, and I recently worked in a hand therapy clinic. Based off the location of your wrist pain it sounds like it could be De Quervain's Tenosynovitis. You can check by making a fist with your thumb tucked into your palm (like under the other fingers) and then ulnarly deviate the wrist meaning you bend your wrist the direction of your pinky. If that causes increased pain along the base of your thumb and that side of your wrist then that's likely what it is. I worked with a ton of patients with this (and other tendinopathies), and I definitely think you should try conservative management before jumping to surgery because it's often not necessary. Biggest thing is to rest the wrist by wearing the splint as much as possible and adapting your activities to not put extra load on those tendons. I would also ask for a referral for a hand therapist because they can even make you a custom thermoplastic orthosis and give you activity modifications and gentle tendon glide exercises and do some soft tissue massage or even cold laser. Anyway, sorry for the long ramble. You may not even see this. But it's something I'm passionate about, so please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. 💛

You should definitely go to physical therapy for your wrist! It’s a much more conservative option versus surgery. Tendonitis can take a while to go away but PT can help relieve symptoms!

I hope your wrist gets better 😭 surgery is kinda scary but it’s ok you just need to remember that your going to get better (for context I had to get two surgeries for a break, one major and one minor) and I was terrified but I got through it.
