Vlog - Sony ECM-XYST1M External Microphone (audio test) 

I have the Sony A6000 and just tried this mic out today. When facing you it sounds good but as family vlogger I turn my mic towards my family a lot and when I did that, it made them sound good but me being on the other side of the mic sounded terrible. The issue I was having with the camera mic was it sounded tiny and not full to me. We'll, I just changed something in the camera settings. Wind noise reduction was set to on, so I decided to shut it off and try it out and what do you know, such an improvement in sound. It loses that tinny sound and overall quality sounds much better to my. Also, when turning it around and me being behind the camera, so much better then the hot shoe mic. $125 back in my pocket!

Your videos are quiete informative, but take care for the sound. The sound is clipping and that makes your vids hard to follow.

Do you have to set anything on camera with the a6000 for it to work?

You mention the a58 having the old-style Minolta hot-shoe...it actually has the new Mullti-Interface hot-shoe. The a57, on the other hand...

No need for the cable... That is why there is no difference! Use only hot shoe

What was the main difference without and with cable?

The mic has a LOT of hiss directly connected to the camera, Sony A77ii. Any ideas why?

Not impressed with the sound from that mic at all. I would give $30 for one, but not the asking price. It is fancy looking though.

Hey please help. Im also a vlogger. I use an akiro kinobo USB mic on Skype and Google Hnagouts, but I dont seem to be able to make it work for me while recording videos. My camera has a mic but I want the mic to record. Please help me. Ive already asked around with no success as of yet. Is it software or is the mic just not capable? I use a 'Lifecam' by the way. Please respond!
