I sold my wedding ring after my divorce too. It was such a big deal when I was young, to get the perfect ring. When I got remarried in my late-30s, the ring didn't matter to me. Having a supportive, loving, family-oriented partner was more important than anything!
Exactly what I think now. I cared so much about the ring.. was cute and special because I was going to wear it "forever" ha! I don't care about even having a wedding anymore but to have a truly good partner that is similar to me...
Agree…my husband and I have been married almost 12 years (March coming up) and these passed years we haven’t wearing our rings party because I’ve been dealing with weight gain and lose (no point having many size rings) and my husband is a welder. We are actually happy with our lives and rings do not matter.
@@JYYB My husband and i started not wearing our wedding rings about 10 years ago. Also because of his job - being an upholsterer- and me gaining weight because of pregnancy. We're not "ring people". He's a man an i can't stand anything on my fingers. We sold them, used the money for something that we really needed. We've been married for 12 years now and still don't want rings. I'd like us to get ring tattooes, though, but my husband faints just at the sight of a needle.
My mom also went through a divorce when she was young. She sold her engagement ring and used the money to by another beautiful diamond ring. She wears it every day (on her right hand) as a reminder of the strength and resilience she had in one of the toughest times of her life. I still to this day have never seen her take it off and I have always admired the story behind it.
The advice I give for making friends as an adult, is to not over-analyse friendship. Friends and friendship can look a million different ways, don't worry about having the perfect, idea friendship. It doesn't matter how long you've known them, if you've hung out IRL before, what you have in common, there's no steadfast rule to friendship. A lot of the time, friendships are made subconsciously, just through chemistry and chatter. Depending on how you view friendship, you might have more friends than you realise 😊
Yes! And to add, not all friends have to be your go to- will know forever friends. You can have casual, hang out with sometimes friends as well! (This was a big realization for me)
This took me 27 years (when I was 27) I am 30 now to realize friendships are those who you haven’t met or seen in a long time and when you get together it’s like you were never apart. No needs for a friend to be with you 24-7 or do things with you all the time. I adore this advice for anyone who thinks is hard making friends. Thank you 🙏🏼
Watching this video made me happy. Why? Because you have become so much more content and adventurous and just all around alive again. Your new season of life suits you so well! I am so happy to see that you have found a new normal. A new happiness. And I love to see it ❤️
Hey Michel I recently found your channel out of nowhere. Let me tell you, we couldn’t be more different people haha. One thing I want to say is how much your daily chats have reassured me, there is something so beautiful in mundane everyday life! I’m 22 and going through a divorce myself and it’s been really hard to readjust life. Seeing you go through your day makes me happy to know that I am doing enough, even if it’s not anything spectacular (like finding a new Target.) I know you make it a point to share so other women to connect with but you managed to connect with this young LGBTQ guy and I think that’s special. 😊
This truly made my day. I’m so sorry you are going through a similar season of life but I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you are here with me. 🤍 here’s to healing together. Love you, friend!
If you’re unable to sell your ring, I might suggest donating it to your church. The pastor can hopefully gift it to a couple who would like to get married but can’t afford a ring
I think you're going about your wedding ring situation perfectly, asking Brooke if he wanted it back and the idea you have about how to use the money, 100% love it, you could even turn the hotel idea into a mini series, like trying out a new hotel every month? Instead of subscription boxes you could do hotels or food places, might be fun
I´m so proud of you for being brave and selling your wedding ring. I believe it´s going to hel in giving you the fresh start you´re looking for. Kuddos for doing the best you can every day to enjoy your life. xoxo
Im so glad you have Max. He is the sweetest boy. He reminds me so much of our sweet boy that we lost in a tragic accident a few years ago. I still miss him every single day. 😔
My most long-time friend admired my tea mugs so I sent her a set, and we meet regularly on videochat for tea! It's always such a nice visit and opportunity to connect, even across so many miles!
I think you’re doing the right thing by selling the rings. There are so many emotions attached to them so it just makes sense to let them go. You’re amazing girl.
I'm a new subscriber and let me just say that despite the difficulties that you have gone through in your past Michel, one word comes to mind when I see you in these vlogs. COURAGEOUS!! Michel, that is who you are. Seeing you get up, move on, and live life in your new normal gives me hope and encouragement. Go girl!
I went to sell my rings as soon as I divorced my ex, and the guy only wanted to give me 150.00 at the pawn shop for diamonds. So I actually decided to keep it, and then I gave them to a homeless couple down by the Susquehanna river where I used to live. Seriously the best thing I ever did was get rid of the constant reminder, I hope you find that comfort too!
It is a big step in deciding what to do with your ring after a divorce. I had my rings melted down and then reset with the diamond and gave it to my daughter for her 21st birthday. I felt it was the best way to pass it down and be free from . It's a hard decision but in the end you will be happy you are moving forward. Happy 2022 and new memories.
Soup looks good!! Dumpling tip ( I love to cook) so place the dough in a ziplock bag. Snip the corner and gently squeeze small dumplings into the soup. ❤️
I personally love bible study, there’s such a feeling of love and feeling welcomed. I was proud when I first decided to go and I knew no one, now out of that I’ve got a group of amazing friends I love so much. God is so wonderful!
I’ve made this soup like 4 times now and I love it so much! Thanks for sharing this recipe with us! I made a tweak because I don’t love chewing tomatoes in soup for some reason lol so I blend them (for anyone who might also not love that).
Michel, thank you so much for the soup recipe. It was the very first meal I cooked at the apartment I moved to because of my divorce! It is very delicious and comforting. I’ve made it several times since then and making it again tonight for a family dinner. Thank you again, love you!
I've binge watched probably the last 6 months worth of your videos over the last few days and it's been so..inspiring and fun to watch this journey for you. Thanks for helping me get through my own little funks in this season. Much love ❤
My Omi's soups were my favorite. They provided such comfort as a child. She and my Opa survived WWII in Austria and was an amazing woman. My Opa passed away before I was born but I can't wait to try yours!
I have been a Butcher Box subscriber for several years now and I love them. The food is great, of course, but the customer service is what makes this company shine. Can't say enough about them. I'm happy to see you are doing so well.
Ahh makes me wanna cry!! 😭 I’ve been separated for about a year now and every time I think of selling my ring I just get super emotional!!! You are strong girl. I love watching your videos and I hope you had a good time at Bible study. It can be scary doing new things with different ppl but I know the one thing that’s getting me through this tough time is Jesus. ❤️ can’t wait for your next video.
That is a beautiful ring but I completely understand all the emotions you are going through with having it around. I think you made a good choice on disposing of it this way. It really warms my heart seeing you go out of your comfort zone and living life.
Thank you for being open to sharing where you stand with selling your ring. I wasn’t married but was engaged for three years, and this has motived me to go ahead and take this step as well. We haven’t been together for over two years, and the rings have just been collecting dust and taking up headspace. It’s going to feel good to purge this from my life and make more room for positive things🙂.
My SIL got divorced. He was horrible. Always told her things happen for a reason, you had this experience and you will grow and learn something from it. As terrible as it is to go through you already have learned things and have become better on the other side. Not that you were a bad person before but you’ve become a better version of yourself. You’ve slowed down, opened up, are open to more things and will be better for all that has happened to you. Best to you and I love your channel
I wasn’t married but I did have an awful end to an engagement. Basically after the wedding was paid for he decided he can’t commit and left. He then demanded the ring back and I was too broken to argue. Fast forward 10 years I am happily married for 5 years, a stay at home mom of 2 little girls. It felt impossible in the moment to move on. I watch you and I wish I could have been as strong and positive at that time as you are. It’s inspiring how you have picked yourself up and created a new exciting life.
Good for you selling your ring. I took mine to a pawn shop, it was not worth very much but I too had to get mine out of the house. I hope you find something really fun to do!
Good idea selling your rings I sold mine i brought myself a silver ring from Mexico on holiday. Nearly 21 years ago. Still wear it today. 🥰 It reminds me of how strong I am.
I'm a Pet Sitter in the UK and I looked after a dog that refused to use their garden for wees and poos. He even seemed scared to go in the back garden. He didn't even do what he needed to do until we got to the park which is a couple of blocks away up the hill. I tried all I knew to get him comfortable to go outside in the garden. Using treats, standing outside with, the dog, or letting him be outside alone while I was near the door inside. Giving him more time to sniff around on the walks. most walks he just used the park, then a couple of walks he did a wee during the walk before getting to the park. He seemed to relax at the park and not in his garden. I couldn't get him to use the garden though. Well done for getting Max to use your new garden.
Thank you so much for your vlogs! It is hard to get to hang out with my friends in person right now. So it is cool to be able to have you as a friend that is online. Thank you for sharing your journey. I love you.
Hey Michel 🌼 So happy to see another Vlog from you. What a joy to see you flourishing. Cooking is so relaxing and healing. Try Turning on some your fav tunes while you're cooking and dance in the kitchen... 🎶 🕺 It's so liberating 😁 On a personal note ~ I went to a new church, however meeting new people almost got the best of me....I drove around the church 3 times before finally parking...lol Our new surroundings sometimes try to get the best of us. Remember to "breathe" Keep doing you girl 💞
Michel your a sweet beautiful Lady.. I am 56 years old and wish I had you as a friend when I was growing up, I speak and tell everyone about you my nieces your an example of how a young lady acts... God bless you Michel...your simply beautiful inside and out Praise Jesus..for you... :)
I found you when I was off work recovering from surgery. You are such a blessing and bring happiness to so many including me. Your lighthearted and kind and you have a wonderful family and your pup is adorable. I got rid of my wedding ring too 👍🏻👍🏻 it’s just another way to move on
I have been thinking that very same thing. You've always been a beautiful woman, but now you almost glow. I can't imagine how difficult it is to go through so many changes but you are dealing with them with such grace.
First of all, never worry about what others think. It’s your decision and your business. I too sold my wedding ring and engage my ring that were absolutely beautiful and as much as I loved it, it felt better getting rid of them. You are doing great and it’s so fun to follow you thru all this, which I’ve been thru all of it myself. Makes you realize how strong you actually are for sure. Keep yo the good work 😊🙌💕
Hi Michel 😊Congrats on all you've done to move forward and make a happy life for yourself and Max. *** If your rings don't sell...or sell for the amount you should get for them, consider doing what I did. Take them to the jeweler and have the center stone that you love so much and diamonds put into a pendant necklace. They can even melt down the bands to use to save on the cost for you and add more metal to it if they need to in order to make the setting. Or change the diamonds out for something else with color.....like sapphires, rubies, emeralds, etc. That's what I did...added blue sapphires. It turned out to be soooo beautiful in that new setting and no negative emotions were left lagging behind from the ring. That gave the stones new life away from that ring setting and brings me so much happiness every time I wear it. Oh...and Max probably just needed some adjustment time too. His life has changed along with yours....moving, temp home and now a new home. *You'll Both Thrive there now that both of you are getting adjusted* ~Hugs ~
I’m really proud of you that you are embracing this season of life. I’m glad to hear that you are letting go of the ring. Think of it as making space for something better. ❤️
Hang in there.. good things happens to those who can wait.. it seems like you an honest, humble person, you will find the right person that would appreciate you in good times or in bad times. Hugs!
Going with the flow and allowing myself to be spontaneous has given me the most cherished memories, the things I've experienced and friends I've made happened when I wasn't planning on it, I'm so glad you're getting to enjoy this season of your life 🙏❤️
Your plans sound great, I would so hang out with you and I'm 60 in two days! You seem like you would be a great friend! So very proud of you for getting on with your life girlie!! Your life had just begun!!
Michel…I just wanted to thank you for being brave enough to share your journey with all of us. It’s truly inspiring and offers hope to me because like most humans we are going through something very challenging and it’s so nice to not feel alone. You are like a friend and your vlogs offer so much comfort. Also, you’re so lucky to have Max. It’s like he knew that you were going to have a hard time sharing how you felt about selling your wedding ring. Sweet boy. 🥰
My 2 best friends live 3-6 hours away and back in 2020 we started having a weekly online game night and is been so nice to stay connected with being so far away.
Good morning Michel I just wanted to say that your vlogs is sooo chilled and you are sweetheart and your editing is sooo good and you are amazing productive
Did it feel good to cook again? I love sausage in soup. I just made broth last night and now I have soup inspiration... just what I needed! :) I’ve never had dumplings before in my life but I keep sour dough starter on hand for pizza crust every Friday. I might try making some sour dough dumplings. My boys will love having bread in their soup! ;) Your ring pictures looked great by the way. Thanks as always for sharing!
I love that you have adjusted to single life and are so much happier these days. That recipe looks so good that I think I will make I but I not sure that I can that biscuit mix but I will try to find something similar.
I get excited every time I see you post! I’m currently out sick from work due to covid, but your videos give me all the cozy and warm vibes! I need to make that soup once I’m feeling better 😋
As far as the ring goes, I think you're doing the right thing which is what feels right to you! I actually had a conversation with our zales rep who was talking about the crazy difference between moissanite new and used, resale is much lower as it's not an in demand stone. A fun tidbit about diamonds- lab grown has less imperfections (controlled environment and such) and its law for lab grown diamonds to say they are lab grown etched inside, but only jewelers (not even pawn shops) will be able to see this difference of the etching because they'd have to use a big camera/magnifying lens that most don't own. So at a pawn shop if they are labeling it diamond, it could be lab grown or nature made Lab grown tends to be more cost effective with a higher resale value That being said I could see someone on a budget looking for a nice ring on ebay, keep us updated with if it sells or not! Fb marketplace might also be a good way to sell it
Cooking with Michel segments would be so fun! I love learning new recipes I’m not very creativity inclined when it comes to cooking 😂🥰 also wanted to add I’m so proud of you for getting out and exploring things you didn’t use to be comfortable with! ❤️❤️❤️
The jeweler that I got my wedding ring from let me exchange it for a tennis bracelet which I lost!! I had it insured and with the money from the insurance company I bought a ring that made me happy.
I have been watching for about a year …. And you have come such a long way. I want you to know you will be fine. And a comfort zone is meant to be pushed so you feel the change. Wow.. you are so strong. Happy New Year… 🎊 I wish you all the happiness and joy for the New Year🍷
I enjoyed the cooking portion of this video so much Michel!! Thank you for sharing this special recipe. 🥰 I made this tonight and it was delicious. Please continue to post recipes/cooking (as long as that’s something that you enjoy as well)!
I traded my engagement ring for a new ring. Luckily the place It was purchased allowed full trade value towards a new piece of jewelry. Got rid of the bad juju, brought in some happy instead.
I went to Greece a couple of years ago and it was amazing!!! Every island has a different vibe depending on what you’re into, so you can make the trip your own
been bingeing you all day and then it started playing the new upload....great surprise...new subbie...can you tell me where you got your old chair from? It was the gray chair in your old home....great content
Crazy story, but I’ve been eyeing this ring since I started watching you a couple years ago, because it’s so beautiful and my husband and I were so poor in college when we got married. My engagement ring broke 2 years ago and my husband is in medical school so I am supporting us financially. In the 5 years we’ve been married we have had 2 wonderful kiddos. But we promised each other we would buy each other new rings when he graduates medical school in a few years and can earn some more money and pay off loans. Crazy thing is, my ring size is a 4.5. I hope you can find someone who can buy your beautiful ring! Totally understand why you would want it not sitting and staring at you. And it’s such a good price compared to the website! Praying for you friend. This is a hard season, but you’ve gone through it with such grace, despite feeling yourself stumble. God is good, and I can see him working in you. ♥️
