Congratulations on your new job🙌 I can't speak for everyone but I much prefer an influencer that has a normal 9-5 job, and an everyday life schedule that looks somewhat closer to mine, than someone who leads a life I cannot relate to at all! As a consumer, the oversaturation of the industry is really clear and seeing someone who is a part of it speak on this so honestly and thoughtfully is such a breath of fresh air. Brittany!! I've followed you for a while but I don't think I've ever left you a comment before, but I just wanted to tell you this vlog made me super emotional for a couple of reasons! Firstly to see you so happy and excited to start a new chapter was so heartwarming, and secondly everything you said about influencing feeling immoral in the current economic climate I thought was SO brave. I started following influencers to try and hone in on my personal style and start shopping more intentionally, but over the last few years it really has just felt like content has become so much less about true style and fashion and more about purveying the idea of an aspirational lifestyle online. As toxic as it is to consume the content I can imagine how much more so it would be to be in that world itself. For you to acknowledge that aspect of it has really solidified in my mind how unhealthy it is to be chasing these people!! So thank you! And welcome back to normality, it's really not so bad

Brittany, your decision is so mature and honestly so relatable. The influence economy is unsustainable and is beginning to feel so hallow. Aside from you, I struggle to find a content creator that talks about things beyond style. Style is great but there’s more to life than clothes. So I often leave those influencer interactions feeling empty. And now with the quick pace of the industry, with tik tok, it feels like we are inundated with so much of that hallow-ness. Brittany, I can't express how much I respect your commitment to living authentically and making choices that feel natural and right for you. I am in a creative line of work, and I always feel this pressure to keep up on social media -- creating content at a speed that doesn't even feel natural or realistic to the creative process. I truly feel that you getting so so many good and long comments is a reflection of how your audience connects with you and that's definitely coz of the person you are! You don't seem very far removed from a normal 9 to 5 job person who is very extravagant and a big influencer, but at the same time you have such a keen eye for visual arts which is why i completely understand brands wanna work with you and you've come so far as an influencer. So refreshing to hear someone who is in touch with their audience and thinking of the immense struggles most of us are going through in the UK right now. I think a lot of us are feeling very alienated by frankly gross displays of wealth from celebrities and influencers alike (and sorry if this is too political, but for myself and a few others, the entire concept of the Royal Family is abhorrent). I think you're making a really smart decision by seeking work somewhere that I think sounds like it will give you some genuine fulfilment, connection and purpose. It doesn't mean relinquishing your platform on social media, but actually will make it more interesting, more relatable and more nuanced.
