That tire would be considered unrepairable where I live. The fragment is punctured outside the crown area of the tire. However I would plug the tire from the outside instead of properly repairing the tire using a patch-plug combo.

Thanks Matt..will try if that happens in future

Wow. Cannot change a tire? You shouldn’t be driving if cannot change a tire. Learn. Takes 10-15 minutes max. 1) pull over side of road. 2) pull out spare tire back of van. 3) place Jack under van (don’t jack up yet, use the friction of ground/van so wheel doesn’t turn), 4) break all wheel lug nuts (don’t pull off yet). 5) Jack up wheel (approx 2” off ground). 6) pull off wheel. 7) install new wheel and hand tight all lug nuts. 8) torque up lug nuts cross pattern x. 9) let van down on Jack. Torque all wheels lug nuts (cross pattern), to spec. 10) load Jack, and flat tire into van. 11) Drive to Tire shop and fix flat. 12) Go finish your day. Easy/peasy.

Not all cars have a spare tire. Only tire sealer inside. Some manufacturers use run flat tires instead.
@firemaker22
@firemaker22 2 года назад
@@mattcee7113 yes but MOST cars do and even if you dont have one, get one, they're very worth it, unless you dont care about paying 4 times the amount of the spare plus however long the tow and repair takes
@HvV8446
@HvV8446 2 года назад
@@firemaker22 and if you need to buy one, get a full-size tire, not a thin spare. Yes it takes up more space, but if you still need to drive a long distance, a normal tire is always better.

But not everyone can change a tyre by themselves even if they know how to… I only have full use of 1 arm and there is no way I could change a flat on our 4wd without some help. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Whilst the service is great here in Japan, I’d be too embarrassed to not change the tire myself......typically all cars here either have a jack or the puncture repair in a can and a compressor to pump up the tire.
@lifeinjapan5149
@lifeinjapan5149 2 года назад
True…I didn’t had a compressor with me

Looks inefficient. Road mechanics would (if safely possible) repair tire on the spot and be on your way in 30 minutes. If cannot repair, have comparable tire on hand and simply swap out.

The tow truck driver didn't tie the car down, relying on in gear and handbrake. Not great.

Why would you need to have the tire on the machine while inflating to seat the bead? You heard it pop right? why replace/service the valve stem if you dont need to? Dude, its just servicing a flat tire, dont be too anal about it.
