I read the Mortal Instruments series last year in two months. Yes their plot follows through all six books but it is worth it.

In my opinion, The Mortal Instruments does get better. I'm actually rereading right now and I just finished City of Ashes. I completely agree with what you said, but it does get better.

Hi Abigail! We're about the same age and I read the whole Mortal Instruments series last year. I totally know what you're talking about and I also considered abandoning the series during book 2 because it was so cringey... haha.. But stick with it! I promise book 3 is AMAZING and all those pain points of the Jace and Clary plot is resolved nicely. :)

You should try the tango passion tea with coconut instead of heavy cream. It's pretty good.

I loved the Mortal Instruments when I read it years ago and I think I enjoyed it because I just new it would have to end well and it did, so keep going because I think it’s good. 😊

I stopped in the middle of City of Ashes 😅 I Loved the Infernal Devices series, but I’m definitely struggling with the Mortal Instruments and needed a break 😬

I personally think that City of Ashes is kind of a “filler” book for the Mortal Instruments. So, the series definitely picks up - and you don’t have to deal with the plot point forever!

Honestly don't force yourself to read the mortal instruments. It wasn't my favourite either and i also haven't gone past half of the second book and don't plan to read the next ones from that particular series of that chronicles.

I DNF’d the Mortal Instruments after the fourth one. I did enjoy City of Ashes, i think it was a 3-4 star for me. I just don’t know whether I want to continue with the rest of the Shadowhunter books🥲 I’ve also read Clockwork Angel and that’s it.
