i hate the taste of beer too but i really like coffee or wine.. so i think it really is an acquired taste :P all of my friends say that "you'll get used to it" but why would i want to get used to something i don't like? that makes no sense whatsoever...

Might be true, I have 1ball i hate taste of beer, i almost don't have any hair on my chest or back, and i don't mind the sweetest sugary stuff.

Do you have any examples of "too sweet" foods you've eaten? I'm 19 and I don't think I've really come across anything like that either, and I want to test it out. The only thing I can think of were these big flat candy dots on this cake that were supposed to be decoration, but were still edible. However, I think it had to do more with the fact they were flat and hard like cardboard.

You may be on to something there Dez. Beer took a few years of getting used to for me because of the suddenly overpowering hops and nodes. The reason Scotch and Whiskeys are more associated with an older crowd is because drinking and being accustomed to them takes many years of dulling and killing the bitter bud receptors in your mouth. Eventually they hit a point where the remaining volumes of tastes are more discernible amongst one another. With an excessive tolerance for sweet and a lower one for bitter or pucker, beer might just be too overwhelming entirely. I say move on to sweet flavored Vodkas buddy!

Eh, I drink beer if it's the only alcohol available but I prefer Irish Whiskey more than anything. And I like vodka as well on occasion.

I can't drink any alcohol at all. I just can't will myself to ignore the hideous taste at all, so I just stay away from that shit entirely.

When I was a child I found Turkish Delight to be too sweet, and that was the only thing I ever found to be too sweet. Have you ever tasted Turkish Delight? If yes, did you like it?

Or it's only a gene, TAS2R38. I'm pretty much the same, hate all things bitter, wine, beer, coffee. I'm pretty sure it's because of this gene.

Well, I probably was a testosterone-pumped toddler, when I was young, because I liked bitter stuff (for exemple, I was offered a piece of dark chocolate, in a chocolate shop, and I liked it), and I'm 22 (pushing 23) and I'm already starting to lose my hair (though there might be a bit of genetic in that), I don't really have chest hair either. ... I like bitter stuff, salty stuff, sour stuff and spicy stuff. I also like sweet things, but I prefer salty things by far. But honestly, why are your friends offering you hoppy beers? When hops are present in a beer, the bitter level goes up. Not all beers have a low bitter level, I find the Leffe Dark to be pretty good (the flavor ressembles molasses). Or maybe you are a bit of a "super-taster"? But anyways, Dez, what ever you you do, never try an Oat beer... If I think this thing is strong (it tastes of grilled oatmeal and some burn), it's gona be crazy for you.

I find beer just tastes like horse feed. Its not good at all VERY overrated drink.
