Vlogging with EDS: Emergency Jugular Stent?

Hey everyone, how are you all doing? Im so glad to be back on RU-vid, today I am bringing you the most rambly pieced together vlog I could possibly have made, but I hope you like it even so.
Recap: My neurological symptoms took a turn for the worse so we headed down to see my neurosurgeon thinking I had more cervical instability. My scans showed that I was actually reasonably stable so he referred me back to my neurovascular surgeon who admitted me for testing and then placed a stent in my right jugular to restore blood flow. I am feeling quite well so far and am hoping to continue in that direction.

Yes! Please keep these videos coming. It makes me feel more normal seeing someone also go through medical procedures and dealing with health issues at a young age 💜

I love just hearing about everything in your daily life. If you can't do your structured videos, do vlogs! Both are great ☺

I enjoy all of the of videos you have on your channel. This is really good too . Even though the stuff you are going through is rough, you have a very calming persona, and it makes all types of your videos enjoyable to watch. Thanks for being a great voice and ambassador for EDS. You are wonderful, Christina!

Hi Christina, I just want to say thank you. I have recently been diagnosed with EDS-HT, and have many similar symptoms and experiences as you have with the medical field. Thank you for being so positive. You are amazing. Take care and keep on fighting.

I wish we could all just give you a gentle hug!! My EDS is not as complicated as yours but I can still understand. So sorry you have to go through all this.....:(

I only found your videos the other day, and I am amazed at how you are coping with everything. I have EDS/POTS and multiple other illnesses and it's refreshing to see someone going through similar issues and raising awareness. I definitely think you should do more videos like this, if you are able :) I hope things continue to improve for you 💖

Thank you for making these videos. It's very comforting for me, and I'm sure others, in not feeling so alone and isolated with EDS. There are so few resources about it, and just seeing you go through your life is touching to me.

@christinadoherty3212 7 лет назад
+AlphaMarine100 Well thank you so much for watching them! Its you guys who keep me making these videos. You are so right, EDS can be so isolating. Im hoping that in the coming years there will be more and more resources available to patients like us. I already am noticing a change, even since I was first diagnosed a handful of years ago. I have a lot of hope that things will get better!

Wow I'm amazed at your ability to take all this in your stride (I'm a new subscriber but I'm guessing you've been through a lot). You're far more positive and brave than I am when having surgery. I've had 6 or 7 surgeries (not for EDS) and I HATE twilight sedation. I freak out. Anyway stay strong, keep fighting. Wishing comfort and recovery. 🦄🌺
@christinadoherty3212

Twilight sedation is a nightmare! I absolutely agree! We tried twilight sedation for my angiogram and it was a disaster with breathing and BP (as I expected) so for the stent we did general. I swear I went out with the hugest grin on my face hahaha

AMEN! Perfumes and other fragrances in any medical facility should be prohibited. (I know this is an older video, but I'm newish to your channel and this popped up in my "suggested to watch" list. I'm currently waiting for my neurosurgeon to get back from vacation and look at my upright imaging to determine next steps)

Thank you so much for this video. I have EDS also, and some of the other things you mention, and have been having serious symptoms involving my neck. I had given up finding a neurosurgeon who was able and willing to help and have been told repeatedly that there is no one in my region of the country qualified to work with me. I am unable to travel for care because of my health so had given up. Your video has given me some ideas and motivation to try again so thank you so much for that.

Missing you so watching your early vlogs, and would like to violently add soooo many ‘scents’ to add to the ‘no perfume’ - but then realised who I’m talking to and have respectfully shut up 🤣 ...and badass for no prescription painkillers, I cannot function without them, but I torment myself with trying not to take them until I’m screaming 😱

*Sorry for the interruption, Ms. Doherty,* but one of our fellow RU-vidrs is in distress with symptoms magnified from your own: *+RosieTeaflower* , who, due to complete lack of the appropriate resources in British Columbia, CAN, will need transport to a facility in the United States that can at least stabilize her - condition serious and fluctuating as of 17 November 2016. The estimated sum required is on or around $20,000.00 at last check. Crowdfunding can be sent as directed at: www.gofundme.com/rosies-medical-fundraiser-2v5qucqs?ssid=780061151&pos=1

I have the same jugular problem and have had my jugulars stretched out 4 times but I want a stent now. What hospital did you go to and who was your surgeon? It is a weird experience being awake for angioplasty so I know you are a courageous and I am impressed by you and appreciate you posting as an inspiration.

Hi Christina, Wow you seem to have allot on your plate too. Is there a vascular component to your EDS, perhaps another type than they first recognised in you. Or is it just one of those things.
@christinadoherty3212
@christinadoherty3212 7 лет назад
+NJSMKMMS If you have seen my latest vlog I talk a little about that. I just saw my geneticist this past week and we talked about that. He doesn't want to label me as hypermobile type anymore but he doesn't have a type yet that he thinks I fit into, so we are just calling it EDS. We are also screening for other connective tissue disorders that have vascular components but don't thinks that will bring up anything. He said I am still not a vascular type because my genes didn't show it, so that is amazing news!

I’m searching her comments looking for the same answer. She did say to one to talk to her on Facebook or instagram. Hang in there. I’m having trouble finding a surgeon for a stent but otherwise the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota was awesome and angel flight can help with cost of getting there and Hands of Compassion was a wonderful place to stay. I hope that helps you some
