I'm an interior designer and when I was in college we briefly studied grocery store design (seems so random but it is SO tediously planned the way it is!). Dairy is one of the most purchased items in households so it is purposely put far from the door because they want you in the stores longer and to have to pass by more aisles/endcaps! I am always yearning for a more efficient grocery store experience where I get my cold stuff last, but alas, I know there is a bigger plan LOL

I just want to say that i’ve been watching y’all for years, and I remember one video years and years ago, where Jessica talked about how that you as a family didn’t know where y’all stood religiously. And I remember praying specifically for y’all that you would find your way back to church and to the Lord. And I obviously don’t know the whole situation about where you were or where you are now, but it just makes me so happy hearing Jessica talk about reading the Bible and doing Bible studies. I hope that you are both growing in your relationship with the Lord because that is what I prayed for. 💖💖

I thoroughly enjoyed the grocery store banter ❤ My family owned a grocery store in our hometown for over 60 years.. and fun fact the products are placed very strategically to make you circle the entire store to get essentials like milk, produce, bread.. it’s not for any sort of convenience for the customer and it shows! Lol
Yes! I have waited all day for this to post!!! Isn’t it funny how something can bring such joy to so many? I just text my youngest daughter and told her that Jessie is baking sugar cookies, so being on her game when she comes home next Sunday to spend the holidays with us! I know what we will be watching as we bake and decorate! Love that advent calendar. I started a new tradition this year and have each person in our family an advent calendar that matches their personalities. Sephora and Ulta offered wonderful opportunities for my daughters, while others got brain teasers, candy, chapsticks, manger scene, etc. Each day we spend pix of what we have received. I’m even doing a Disney one in my classroom! They love it! Oh my gosh! That pastry blender for your kitchen aid is fabulous! I use that and then the bread bar to make Maryland Work biscuits. If you have never had these, you do not know what you are missing!!! Definitely an acquired taste, but a love in these parts! I make them and give them as Christmas gifts. We are just as fortunate as you with neighbors we are blessed with. We live in the country, where neighbors are spread thin, however all those around us for miles around are relatives. I’ve never lived away from family and do not know of if I could or would do it. Family is everything. ❤️ Dear Jessie and Tyler, your family feels so much like a part of ours and I’m honored to have you as part of our lives. So glad to know my husband is not the only one who texts/calls me when he does the grocery shopping! Usually several times, but that's okay. It's sweet that they want to get the right things and take 2-3 times the amount of time we would have to get them. It's all good. I would do the same at Home Depot. LOL. Not to be sexist, but my husband and I are from an older generation (we are your parents generation) than you and Tyler.
My mom always grocery shopped on Friday too! I went with her when I was younger and when school was out. Always went to 2 stores....a "discount" one for canned & boxed goods, then another for fresh fruit/veg and meat. From what I remember, she worked with a very tight budget, but always made it work :)

French Onion Pasta Serves 4 to 6 Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 30 minutes Ingredients __2 Large or 3 Medium Yellow Onions, halved and thinly sliced __3 Cloves of Garlic, minced __2 Tbsp of Butter __Drizzle of Olive Oil __1 Tbsp of Brown Sugar __Fresh Thyme __1 lb of Rigatoni or pasta or medium cut pasta of choice __4 cups of Beef Stock __1 Tbsp of Garlic and Herb Seasoning __1/2 cup of Heavy Cream __Salt and Pepper to taste __Freshly Grated Parm __Fresh Chopped Parsley 1) In a Dutch oven, add the butter and olive oil, preheat over medium-high heat (right between medium and medium-high), add the onions, along with a small pinch of salt, sauté until they cook down and develop. some color, about 15 minutes, then add the garlic and brown sugar, cook one minute. 2) Add the stock, cream, garlic and herb seasoning and few sprigs of thyme, bring to a boil, simmer about 5 minutes then add the pasta, cook to al dente, once there, adjust seasoning to taste, stir in the parm, cover and allow it to sit for 5 to 10 minutes, then stir in more cheese and fresh parsley ...
Thank you for sharing the Bible tracker book marks download. A few years ago our church challenged us to read the bible in a year. Our pastor is looking to do this again in a couple of different ways and what a great way to track what books you have accomplished.
Dairy is at the back of grocery stores because that is where the loading docks are, making for a shorter distance when transferring from the trucks to the coolers so products don't spoil.
I follow the same grocery store agenda! Start on non grocery side for all toiletries then the back refrigerator section and work our way up to check out. 😊
I will tell you a perfect pot roast secret is a packet of Lipton Onion Soup mix as the only ingredient. Sear the roast in a skillet on all sides to brown then put in crockpot with an entire packet of onion soup on top. 6hrs till it pulls apart. I agonized over doing a perfect pot roast for years, all different kinds of fancy ways but it's really just that simple! An ol' American classic lol. You can roast some potatoes and veggies on the side if you like so they aren't soggy in the crock. Sooo good!
Onion soup mix, I use it for roast, beef tips for beef tips and rice, we use it to make dip, just mix it with sour cream and you have a chip dip. We use it for lots of things!!

I go from right to left and hit the meat somewhere in between everything in the middle. Lol going to the grocery store is something I have come to love as an adult. I went with my mom a lot growing up and yes, sometimes it sucks making a meal plan and coordinating everything so we get our veggies in and use up ingredients and all that jazz, but its also oddly satisfying to be the one that KNOWS the store and is an expert level grocery shopper. Haha I love how y'all always go in the same order I do too! I also do health/beauty first, then in my usual store I go to the kitchen appliance area if needed, then the tool area if I need like air filters or light bulbs, dog food, then dry goods, dairy, meats, produce, and frozen last! :) I feel like that way just makes the most sense with how my store is laid out and getting all the cold things last! I LOVE your vlogs especially these vlogmas ones as I feel this is where the true fans can really see how much we actually know you (like Tyler and his beans) and can laugh with you through all the inside jokes you include throughout the years. I think I've been watching since before y'all were engaged and it's so comforting to have you guys as my little RU-vid family that I feel I can relate to so well! Love y'all! Onion soup mix with 1 cup of mayonnaise, spread on a whole salmon fillet, sprinkle with a lot of almond slivers and bake for 20mins. Super quick fish dish for big parties.
Tyler at the grocery store is hilarious! But I always do the back of the store last so I'm not walking around with my dairy and frozen items getting warm in the cart.
Depends on the store and their floorplan, but I usually start with produce, pantry staples, dairy/refrigerated items, and finish with frozen items. I most often shop Aldi and Trader joes for groceries and get household items from either Amazon or Target, so it's not frequent that I shop household items in the same trip as grocery items.
We use onion soup mix on diced potatoes with garlic salt and olive oil and bake in oven for about 40 min really good. we also throw a packet in when we make roasts in the crock pot for extra flavor.

Ok Tyler, so our grocery strategy is always dairy, freezer last to stay colder the longest. Produce and eggs in kid caddy area of cart (when without kids). You know they put the milk in the back because most people are running in for that, thus they are hoping you grab more groceries even when you run in just for milk. Also, we love the Mina Harissa from Thrive Market ✅
I use onion soup mix in my roasts and it’s amazing! I sear my roast on either side first and then put it and all my cut up veggies into the crockpot. I mix two packets of soup mix with water and then pour it over the roast and veggies. Let it slow cook all day. Your home will smell amazing and your dinner will be perfect!
