Interestingly, I figured this thing out barely a couple of days ago..., and today there's a video tutorial... Big ups, vMix You guys have blessed my church most especially in these COVID times.

Lol, it's funny vMix would touch on this subject. I started pulling a feed from one of my front-of-the-church CCTV cames a few months ago via rtsp to use as part of the opening and closing sequence of the broadcast. The camera gives a tolerable 1080p feed. I removed the OSD information so it's a clean feed. I only have it up for a few seconds after the opening graphic titles and then transitioning live to the Pastor who started his voice over during the CCTV shot. The shot gives a live view of the church grounds with the active street in the background and the church's welcome sign. I thoght was would add to the welcoming effect even though the church was closed due to the pandemic. I run the production from my house but pull the feed through the production system at the church over an SRT downlink.

Hello! I often use cctv IPC Dahua camera for livestream. Recently I used Replay feature but the system is not getting 60fps but only 29.97fps. I connect via RTSP protocol, the image is still receiving Vmix normally, just not getting 60fps in Replay feature. I tried the other way that via VLC rtsp it got 60fps but the latency is higher than rtsp. With Xsplit software, I see it still can receive full 60fps. Hope you help!

Sorry for ask. what brand name of ip camera that used in this video demo? I am confuse about choose ip camera that must i buy.. that support in vmix then. Thank you.

I used an AIDI PTZ camera and PTZ Optics camera for this demo. vMix should support most cameras with an rtsp output, but IP cameras are going to vary wildly in their quality, so we don't usually recommend them.

I'm attempting to use an RTSP stream from an Aja Helo as an input. Every time I enter the stream URL vMix says "No Session" and fails to open the stream. I can open the stream in VLC and another programming so I know the Helo is streaming. I also get different errors from vMix when the stream is off or the parameters are wrong. Note: may cam is HIKVISION

You should tell canon that RTSP streaming is not a viable standard for high bitrate video content. They seem to have missed the memo.

Hi, you should be able to. You'll just need to make sure you have the right syntax for the RTSP stream address from the camera. If you can see the stream in VLC, then you should be able to see it in vMix.

Sorry Tim, have to emphatically disagree on Latency and Image Quality. "Most" cheaper IP cameras, such as found at Jaycar stores or Bunnings, yep, those are junk, but better brands, such as the HikVision units, in fixed and PTZ forms, have better images then any sub AU$1000 camcorder, better then most GoPro clones too. The latency on them using RTSP over TCP/IP is better then NewTek SparkHX, and the latency using RTSP over UDP is the equal of NDI, with lower CPU processing loads to decompress the stream. These high quality IP based cameras are ideal for remote cameras where it's too dangerous to have a camera operator, but, they can only be purchased from security industry suppliers.

Yeah that's fair. There are plenty of good quality options, but no one ever asks about them as they should work correctly. Unfortunately 99% of the support emails we get are people trying to use $3 IP cameras that they buy on eBay and are wondering why things look bad, have latency or can't get audio!

@@vMixhd 😀 make sure to tell folks to Never buy Swann branded IP cameras. The web console of the HikVision (aka HiLook and unbranded OEM variants) also supports adjusting exposure controls on the fly, and some have SD card slots for on board recording. Used when sat on the wall of a racetrack, they're just about perfect.

We certainly have 2 HikVision PTZ cameras which have been really good quality for what we wanted (720p streaming to FB/YT). No big issues with latency - audio delay is about 300ms and the only big gotcha was the 3rd cheap camera we bought (made by 'JideTech' but is basically unbranded) which has a bigger audio delay which required a bit of poking in vMix using triggers to switch between 2 audio inputs with different delays. Main downside has been the legacy web console - needs IE to work - and the lack of ONVIF support in vMix. But otherwise, they have made a cheap setup possible.
