A small video on how to fix keyboard not responding on Guest OS in VMware Workstation. The same can be done if you mouse/mice doesn't work.
Solution:
For some reason, my main keyboard wasn't switching between Host and Guest OS. As such, it had to be manually enabled through:
VM - "Removable Devices" - select keyboard you wish to connect - "Connect" (temporarily this might disable the keyboard on you HOST OS, but after the installation has finished it goes back to normal)
If you can't see the keyboard in the list of devices, then:
VM - "Settings" - "USB Controller" - check "Show all USB input devices" - "OK"
