In Indonesia, potato is well known as ''kentang''. In Japan, it was called ''jaga imo'' back then, which means ''jaga 'bulbs''. Jaga maybe came from Jayakarta, nowadays the port city is well known as Jakarta. So, in a nutshell, before the birth of internet, the world was connected by the potatoes.
