I honestly fall down RU-vid rabbit holes all the time watching her performances and reactions to them and I mean this very sincerely, yours has been my absolute FAVORITE to watch. Your wording and knowledge of what's going on in every single detail is just amazing and SO informative. I've seen these performances hundreds of times and have gotten more enjoyment and insight from your videos than since I first watched them on my own. I hope to see more reactions from you on her videos as well as other content. 소향을 잘 소개해주셔서 감사합니다. 저 날은 소향이 심한 폐렴으로 무대에 오르면 안되는 날 이었다고 하네요. 실제 저 날을 마지막으로 저희도 방송에서 2년간 보지 못했어요... 의사의 경고보다 시청자들과의 약속이 마음에 더 컷나봅니다. 그 점 감안하여 소향의 다른 곡들도 사랑해주세요. 감사합니다 ^^

When Sohyang sang 'You Raise Me Up', she cried because she was afraid that she might not be able to sing because of pneumonia. And with this song, after four years of recovery, now come out and sing again. Sohyang is now 43 years old. thanks for the reaction

She was sick & had pneumonia when she sang this song (Coughs, high fever, severe sputum). She changed to falsetto in the climax parts of song instead of belting it out due to that. Her pneumonia became very serious during the preparation of this song & doctor even advised her to give up the performance and she thought it would be her last performance as a singer. After the performance, she stopped performing for a while. She was an angel for sure.

Sohyang rearranged this song for stage. It is special episode for Shane Filan, vocal of westlife. As you mentioned it, sohyang added some Celtic effect by using Irish flute. This performance is really masterpiece. Thx for your analysis. Very very enjoyable.😆

Thank you for good reaction. She suffered from pneumonia when she sang this song. (Coughs, high fever, severe sputum) So she changed to falsetto because of pneumonia in the climax parts of her singing style, (instead of belting). Her pneumonia symptoms reached the most serious level when she prepared this song. So she thought it would be her last performance as a singer. And after the performance, she disappeared for a few years.

Mr. Roberto, It is a PLEASURE to watch your reactions to the PHENOMENAL So Hyang. I don't have to understand Italian to know what you're saying. Your facial expressions are PRICELESS and translate what's in your heart, and it is a JOY to view your reactions. Without a doubt, you are BRILLIANT!! To date, you have witnessed only a small sample of what this EXTRAORDINARY woman can do with her voice. Trust and believe, every note is intentional. I am a massive fan of sohyang but I dont think this is one of her best performances,there is just something 'missing', a bit of sohyang magic!!! It is still a fantastic performance by anybody else's standards. She was sick during this performance (her face seems really thin & she looks tired). She was told by the doctor not to sing as she hadn't yet recovered from pneumonia but she didn't want to let the audience down so she went ahead & sang. I wonder how much more amazing it would've been if she had been 100% healthy!! Another enjoyable reaction,I really like reactions from people like yourself that know a lot about singing/music. As always,more sohyang please

I must say she did fantastic with the arrangement of this song. I never really liked the original and found it a bit boring.. but this performance? She is literally most UNREAL vocalist. You will be amazed, amazed, and amazed again like there is no end.. Tons of legendary stages. I highly recommend her Everyone, Lean on me, Fate, I have nothing, Oh holy night, Misty, I won't give up, Mona lisa, Home, Hug me, Please, It's only my world.. She can do anything. She has monstrous vocal capability but at the same time, can show most delicate touches, powerful emotional experiences.

OH Roberto, your reaction to SoHyang is, as it always seems to be, one of great perception and understanding. But once more it is also more than that, for you bring not only your knowledge of music and the mechanics of the human voice but also your deep understanding of human emotion and how that is affected by music, by words, by pronunciation. You understand that, as Victor Hugo once said "music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent". When we hear So Hyang capture both the words and music together so artistically, there is a kind of very powerful magic that occurs that, as the song lyrics say, raise us up to more than we can be. She is like a small bird perched on a tiny branch that bends beneath her weight but she sings on anyway knowing that she has wings. So she can reach across the world and touch us, as do you. It is amazing that though we have never met and we are thousands of miles apart there is a wonderful part of you that comes through in your videos that has great warmth and great passion and through you we expand our own understanding , and our spirit. Thank you for another very pro-level analysis of Kim So Hyang work. You have mentioned Seth Riggs here. He (and his work) undoubtfully has had a big impact on all the finesses of SoHyangs singing. But we also should mention all that what we have heard and seen. Without a doubt, the orchestra is simply phantastic, the background vocals are stunning and I would like to know, how long they all needed to set all tricks and twists of this beautiful arrangement together. This must have taken days. Just one aspect: see the sound control on Sohyangs microphone from that breathy beginning til taking the roof off with the belts. And finally: the light support: simply phantastic. Finally a huge thanks needs to go to the Korean TV station KBS for sharing those performances via RU-vid. They have presented so many great singers (and whole shows) to the public abroad. A last word to your analysis: detailled, showing fragments of the sound work we haven't seen on youtube so far. Roberto: keep on with this great work. And those of you not familiar with italian: switch on the translation. Its really worth it.

Mamma Mia indeed and thanks for the excellent in-depth analysis. It starts off with Celtic folk vibe and then moves into gospel and rock to a glorious broadway type finish. In between, there're many key/tempo changes, mood shifts, and her voice color changed accordingly. I could only say there aren't many who can dream of this level of arrangement and only one who cal sing it... and SoHyang did both.

SoHang arranges al of her covers. In this one, she has pneumonia and was told by a dr that day, not.to.speak, but with weak lungs and a bad throat, she was still able to.do that.
