@@kevwells3785 Her vocals are far, far better now. Check out Black Coffee and Joy from her Bonamassa record. Screaming, killer vocals and great videos. Nothing bluesy or soft about it.
utbabee sorry... I disagree.... each to their own, I like her at this time of her life & the Paradiso gig was fantastic. A few years later when I saw her it was like a grown up toned down prim & proper version of what was an exciting vocalist.
I was so lucky to actual be present at that concert. The best live performance untill now. All I can say is that the room was filled with LOVE.... Love flowing from her to us and back again. I felt I was back in the sixties, though I was born in 1966 and never really experienced that period. LOVE for the energy and openess of this singer and her band. Really special. And you felt the vibe through the video and music, she possesed the crowd as a witch... Wow!
Beth Hart is a phenomenal singer. I had just bought a ticket to go see her early next year! You should react to her with Joe Bonamassa singing I'd Rather Go Blind, that whole concert is sublime just like this on at Paradiso.
What is amazing about that cover of I'd Rather Go Blind was that when she was asked to sing this for the album Don't Explain, she thought it was over done and it was. After people listen to her version of I'd Rather Go Blind, they forget about the million other covers of that song.
After a life of sex & drug abuse and mental health problems, it's a wonder that Beth is still with us. The full Paradiso gig is feral, possibly for the wrong reasons and by that I mean, she was a recovering wreck of a human. Today she is surrounded by people who care for and look after her, and her live performance is more calm, though still highly emotional. Her own songs now act as self therapy to purge her demons and we should all get a wee bit of Beth in our lives as she is a fantastic songwriter, singer and performer. If you are going to review anything else by Beth, go for ANY version of "I'd rather go blind." She nails it every time.
I saw her do a 20 minute set on Planet Rock's channel the other day - just her and a keyboard, singing material from her new album. DIVINE. She's been down some dark roads in her time, what with substance abuse problems and being diagnosed as Bipolar, but she's refreshingly honest since she got sober. She's a survivor. A BS-Free zone, if you will.
Thank you for reacting to Beth Hart. She is my favorite female singer at this point. I'd Rather Go Blind with Joe Bonamassa from Amsterdam is a better showcase of her talent and you can see her much better as well. Just a tip
She was a little on the wild side back in that era. Her voice was amazing then and it's just as amazing now. She went through some difficult times but got through it and is even better now. Little more mellow on stage. Her and Joe Bonamassa have great chemistry when they collaborate, her voice and his guitar are magic. You'll love thier last project " Black Coffee". Lot's of old R&B
Paradiso is a magical place, an old church in Amsterdam that became a music temple in the 60's. The stain glas windows are stil there behind the stage.
Never heard of this artist. Paradiso ALWAYS brings out the best in artists because of the intimate atmosphere. I have enjoyed many performances there and they are always amazing.
stumbled upon this today and love that you loved her too. she was closing the first live concert i went to in college which was a couple years before i think this was recorded, and i adored her music. a few years ago i saw her again in a small venue in DC. she got sober along the way between the two performances i saw, but she's still just as raw and vulnerable and good a performer and seems to be a lovely person. love sending folks her music for the first time, cheers. (the song leave the light on left me in tears)
I’ve been obsessed with Beth for years, and it’s an absolute sin that she isn’t more well know. She IS the music, and I’ve never seen another artist leave their soul onstage the way she does. She has some killer performances with Joe Bonnamassa, particularly I’ll Take Care Of You and I’d Rather Go Blind. The first songs I ever heard from her were Mama and Tell Her You Belong To Me. Your jaw will drop.
This is an older video, but still one of my favorites. I discovered Beth back in early 2000, and have been telling and sharing her since. She has only gotten better, although somewhat more restrained in her live performances, but she still comes out into the audience! My all time fave female vocalist ❤ so glad the world has finally discovered her. Check out "What You Gonna Do About Me" with Buddy Guy... and my all time FAVORITE sexy song... " I Wanna Know You". Hard to find, worth the effort. Play them as loud as you can, especially the first time you hear them!
Agree. Lot like Janis Joplin both in voice and genre. And that tie-dye shirt, wouldn't be surprised if Beth was influenced by Janis. Even her hair.........
Everyone singing blues since 1970 was influenced by Janis Joplin in some way. But Janice was a one of a kind and her gift was passion. Beth has much more technique and of course passion in every cell of her body. Nobody like her.
I've never clicked a link so fast. EVER. Two of my favorite ladies in one video --- Rebecca & Beth!!! I must have died and went to Heaven. Now I'm going to unpause, and watch this video! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this lady. She, truly IS, a vocal BEAST! Lots of Love, and thanks for all the enjoyment you bring to my day, Rebecca! Jeremy
Saw her in Manchester at the Bridgewater Hall a few years ago. It was one of the most intimate, sensual and raw concerts I've been to. Beth has had a rough life and she's not afraid to bring that to her shows and share it with her audience. Truly one of the best blues singers of our time.
Omg I requested this a while ago! Thank you so so so much for reacting to this amazing woman! If you want to see a softer, but still very "in your face" performance of her you should really check out "leave the light on (at the Royal Albert Hall)" it's a very emotional song and she has the most beautiful way of telling the story. The song was a true a lifechanger to me. I'm curious to see what you think of it! You're the best and have a great day❤❤❤
It’s unbelievable how underrated this woman is. One of the best female performers. Ever. Just check her live rendition with Joe Bonamassa on “I’ll take care of you” and “I’d rather go blind” or her own Royal Albert Hall‘s performance “Leave the light on” or “Take it easy on me”. Stuff of legends.
First time ever hearing her and I do like her voice in all its course gritty beautiful fury and after watching her perform I think I need a cold shower
I consider myself very fortunate to have seen Beth many times live and she's still the only artiste to make me incapable of speaking whilst watching her. Check out any of her versions of "I'd Rather Go Blind" absolutely tear inducing magnificence
Rebecca, I couldn't get here fast enough when I saw you were critiquing Beth!!! She is the BEST......like a combo of every blues and a little rock n roll female singers ever!!! AND, I do believe your critique is the BEST I've ever heard. You totally 'got' her!!! She's a power to be reckoned with. She has sung at the White House and blew them away!!! Please, please check out more of her songs. Pretty please?!?!?! Blessings..... :)
She is forever my all time best female entertainer. That was her best freind she was singing to. She does have a classical background. She is well into her 40' and still going strong, very well known in the UK. She takes you onto a wild ride of Bethism.
she is deff off her rocker during this performance. she wont even play this anymore. ive seen her live several times and she is always at the top of her game
She is a force on her one, she sits in the concert hall without any form of monitoring in her ears or on stage, gets the final product from the stage, and the concert hall, and yet such a control, grating, vibration, the range is of high class.
She had always been off my radar until a few years ago, and then found her in a niche corner of YT. So much talent on the ... TUBE! Have you heard of Rozzi Crane? She my ... PRICELESS YT discovery of 2019, Rett Madison is a distant second.
so glad you are talking about one of my favorite singers Beth Heart! She's had such a sad story with addiction and almost lost everything, but she's sober now and I'm really glad she's still here and doing so well!!
I love you for that reaction. Do close to my fire, I'd rather go blind and for sure caught out in the rain live at the Royal Albert Hall by her!! ❤️❤️❤️
I hate to say, I've never heard of her until now... And I have no idea why. Holy hell, this was something to see and hear. Amazing vocals. Complete sensory overload. Wow.
Beth is a once in a lifetime artist. That's what you call talent. Gosh! And for the record Rebecca, you look beautiful as always. Keep up the great work 💙 Goodness gracious great balls of the fires of fires!!!! 😂😂😂😂♥️♥️♥️♥️
What a wonderful way to discribe her perfomance down there in the crowd. Using my favourite disney movie The Jungle book. Khan's hypnoticic effect in "Trust In Me" lol Brilliant analysis of her effect on the crowd.
This performance is in Paradiso in Amsterdam and probably one of the few venues in the world where she could get away with the stuff she pulled here. The audience is incredibly chill and up for pretty much anything.
When I saw your feature for today I clicked on sooo fast....this is one of my all time favorite Beth Hart performances and my absolute favorite B.H songs!!! And I absolutely looooove your comments ....every video is a lesson!! Thank you RVA!!
Baby girl I'm 64 almost 65 years old and I'm still learning to sing better. I've been singing my entire life. What a wonderful thing it is that we're allowed to do; to represent the emotions of others through music and lyric. What could possibly be better?
You are watching her live at the Paradiso, probably one of THE best live rock performances ever.I cannot believe people are saying she sings better now than she sang at this concert. This is her at her rawest and most primal. This is a woman who has been through the fire and come out reborn and possessed with spirit throughout her body. When she talks about "its just entertainment...right",she is saying I can go crazy here and let lose all my stuff and ain't no one gonna call me crazy. This is a woman who has tasted madness and come out to tell the tale with no apologies for her passion."don't you make me feel crazy if I break down and cry...."that literally is it...this is not planned, this is channelled....oh yeah and when people talk about her toning it down or not singling like that as much now, well how long would an artist last of they sang like that at every concert. She is older now and she has said herself she could not perform like that with that energy now.She still pulls it out the bad imo but I can understand why some might not get into her more recent stuff,it definitely seems toned down
The good thing with Beth Hart is that you can find her singing this song throughout her career. From her early years on Star Search, to a later video that shows her during her drug years, to this video from 12-15 years ago...and now. You should look at all of them and compare for your own pleasure.
AAHHHH YOU DID BETH HART!!! I love Beth Hart so much I've wanted you to react to her for so long!! She's so talented and she missed out on so much in terms of her musical career due to struggles with mental illness and drug abuse so it's so nice to see her getting attention again now that she's making a healthy come back
I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or not, but I had left a comment asking for a reaction to another one of her performances, Caught Out In the Rain at the Royal Albert Hall, and it's beautiful how you uploaded this like two days after lol these two are her best performances in my opinion. BTW, on locations, I'm from Uruguay in South America
I'm from Egypt, I consider this the greatest performance I've ever seen, and watched it tons of times, so your react popped up in my youtube recommendations, I came in like I swear to god if she was negative about this I'm gonna be extremely mad, but your react was joyful, and I love seeing people's reaction on this, as I enjoy it every time as the first time! thank you and nice to see you
"Immortal" from this same show Live at the Paradiso, is crazy. You need a cigarette when she is done. I saw her live at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville almost three years ago. And it was literally a religious experience. She is more mature now, but so real and so damn good. I'm seeing her for the third time in May 2020 and so looking forward to it!
Hello from New England! 👋 Was watching Total Wipeout reruns when your video popped up. Thank you so much for doing a Beth Hart video. I recommended that you do one with her a while back. OMG did you do this for me? 💕 😊 Brilliant analysis as usual, my lady.
Beth is a phenomenon on her own her music is stunning, her vocal talent is second to none, her writing is amazing. I was lucky enough to see her play a solo show at Islington chapel. She is simply stunning and every album that comes out takes you with her, I love her music so much. If you get the chance to see her live you gotta go, she is such a wonderful soul. She can be aggressive but she can be smoother than silk. Too many tracks to fully tell her story, I love "caught out in the rain", "st Theresa" and "Rub me for Luck" off her latest album is just unsurpassed.
I’d Rather Go Blind and I’ll Take Care of You with Joe Bonamassa are wonderful blues songs sung by Beth. Both are less raw than this performance but equally good and probably showcases her voice in a more ‘normal’ form, but still with that uniqueness that only she possesses.
I have been listening to Beth for about 6 months now and I come back to this performance often. She is amazing and I have to give you a shout out for your performance! Love the accent! New Mexico! Part of the USA!
AT LONG LAST...The reincarnation of the queen has taken place...The late, great, Janis Joplin has had no rival until this very moment....I got the proverbial chill when she opened up with that Janis Scream....I did’nt know her until now...Now, I want to know everything about her...Well done Rebecca...You make a good day better❤️😘❤️
Glad you're back...missed ya! Beth is awesome...born to sing the blues! You gotta check out any of her stuff with Joe Bonamassa...there's a kind of magic when they get together.
Can I just say, THAT WAS SO FREAKING HOTTTTTTT! Good lord, it's like she hypnotizes you. She can hypnotize me anytime she wants. My gosh. Holy ships. As usual, Ms. Rebecca, you have brought us another amazing vid and react. #RVARocks Embrace that country accent. You should hear mine. I am from the south..I love yours.
Seen her perform in a small venue and also the Ziggodome. Her voice goes right through to your body. Absolutely the best female blues voice alive. Always gives me goosebumps. What a powerhouse !!
Oh my... what a fantastic review. I haven't smiled so much in weeks. I've been following Beth for about 6 or 7 years and seen her progress in the UK from 50 people venues to thousands of people venues. She is an incredible talent. Love from Macclesfield!
