That guitar noise is made by simple dissonance i.e. one semitone difference over two strings, pushed through a pitch shifting pedal, in their case, they're pushing it 2 octaves up. Think, Coming undone intro, but 2x as high, and with a dissonant chord instead of a single note. Love it, these guys do it amazingly well!!

I went to listen to an Afterimage track to see it for myself (Cerulean was the one I picked). What the hell are Kyle's vocals? Really high, beautiful cleans? He's got 'em. The punk, grungey kind of screams that show up in post-hardcore and metalcore? Easy. But then also his Brand of Sacrifice lows, gutturals, highs, etc. I just don't get what entity he made a deal with to have those cleans, those highs, and those lows. Mans voice is gold.

Seeing these guys live....the vocalist didn't even look "intense" while walking around the venue prior to going on stage. I was a little shook when I saw him take center stage, but the moment he opened his mouth.... Gracious I was blown away. They are by far one of my favorite bands. So thankful I got introduced to them when I saw them open for Signs of the Swarm

I'm always trying to do what you explain in these videos as I watch them. It has helped me quite a bit with finding new things and to explore on my own too. I often go for 1-2 hour walks and keep trying to get comfy with making certain things with my throat, tongue and all other parts that matter when trying to get a certain sound out and it has helped too. Would recommend to anyone who's somewhat new and has a lot to work on.

That last one was a song from Beyond Deviation from Canada, the song white noise from their first ep. So I would suggest listening to that song, he has some of the craziest and crazy high screams you'll ever hear.

Mark, that guitar noise is a dissonant chord that is digitally raised in pitch with a whammy pedal (probably a Digitech Whammy). A lot of modern deathcore bands and nu-metalcore bands utilize these pedals now after bands like Sworn In and Stray from the Path started using them earlier in the decade. Sounds super sick in my opinion 😎

Jonny Davy, to me, has yet to be surpassed for weird vocal tricks. There's a guttural dive in the Serpent of Gnosis song "The Colorless Capsules" that to this day I've not been able to wrap my head around.

The high noise you were asking about is made with use of pitch shifter (up 2 octaves from what I hear) on some kind of harmonic overtones played on multiple strings

Alright, people seem to forget this is the band The Afterimage. It is the Vocalist, Dummer, and Guitarist. Listen to that band, especially their last album before splitting and forming BoS, and them come back to this and be shocked.

Those are harmonics, it can be created by doing a picking technique where your thumb hits the string lightly after picking or you lightly press on certain frets of each string. But I’m not sure if they’re doing that here.

That super high guitar sound is formed by playing a dissonant chord high on the fretboard. Then usually the use an effect pedal to transpose the noted one or two octaves up.

To get that sound you were asking about you can use a specific type of pedal as you play a mid to high distress chord the pedal raises the pitch and adds a slight distorted screech now you don't have to use a chord you can isolate a single note but chords that don't harmonize but counter each other in my opinion sound better good examples of a distress chord listen to the intro to furtive monologue by despised icon. There are a lot of bands that use them but I can't think of any more I hope this helped

Usually guitarists will make that noise with a pinch harmonic, where you touch your thumb skin to the string after you pick the note to activate a harmonic. That being said, this band does that sound by using whammy pedals to pitch shift regular notes up higher than the guitar is capable of playing

those screeches are a digitech whammy pedal or something that does more or less the same pitch shifting effect normally guys in bands will do 2 octaves up screeches kinda like tom morello did for RATM for solos/leads like in killing in the name etc. but in deathcore/slam its mostly used for dissonant crazy shit like brand of sacrifice does its 99% of the time just 2 octaves up on the whammy
