i’m not the best at explaining how i do vocals. but i am open to talking with you. i appreciate the kind words. this was a cool video to watch. respect
Hey Darius. Alex here, I'm the goblin that keeps the trains running. If you wouldn't mind shooting us an email at kardavox1010@gmail.com - we can have a little chat and get the ball rolling on doing something cool together. Thanks! - Alex
This song doesn't even captivate his bread and butter. His mid range harcore yell screams are his staple. Please react to IED, Reign in Hell, or Kill or be Killed. IED is definitely his best work.
As a linguist myself, extreme metal vocalists - especially deathcore vocalists - are fascinating. I'm glad I found a vocalist/vocal coach that really understands what is going on and knows how to transmit it. Btw, I'm proselytizing Kardashev among my friends.
Right?! There's so much going on with the way deathcore vocals mess with vowels. I'd love to get a scream on a spectrogram, but I'm not sure how well it would translate. And thanks for spreading the KSHEV love!
this was the first time i'd ever heard him, and in this video where he was very separated from the music, I absolutely hated it. But then i went and checked out their music and it sounds so killer when its properly integrated in the mix.
I've been listening to spite for years and his "yell" your talking about is his signature in my opinion. He dose it in most of his songs. This song I think he used to show off his wide variety of vocals he could proform. If you want to listen to some good songs, listen to digging pt 1/2. Reign in hell, ied, kill or be killed. That's a good start.
I saw Darius live and I’ve never been so hyped. He really knows how to get people going. And is just huge on stage. Then met him in the crowd and he couldn’t have been nicer :P
I only paint, I'd love to play but just don't have the time. Maybe I'll add a pic of some of my painting in my next video! I'm definitely not a pro, but I think I do an alright job.
Spite is the most unique and "pure" band of their type I've heard in 20 years. His vocals are as rare as a unicorn. An all black unicorn, covered in blood. Spite Cult. Keep metal filthy.
I'm so obsessed with them 😭 and I love your description. And it's cool that you can't really peg them into a subgenre... hardcore? Not quite. Deathcore? Nah. They're just refreshing and they do all the things in metal that I love. Plus Darius is a maniac.
Would love to see a Tyler Shelton reaction video(Traitors or something hes featured on, Infant annihilator comes to mind he killed that track), he has a very similar falsetto type scream that's like voice and scream simultaneously
His “falsetto scream” really grows on you. As far as I can tell, all he’s doing is contracting his diaphragm and opening his throat with minimal chord closure. It’s sort of like yelling from your chest. I could be way off on that but that what it feels like to me.
I study linguistics and like deathcore vocals so this is like heaven for me. Also you explain vowels better than my phonetics instructor, always enjoy watching your videos *thumbs up emoji*
He has one of the most distinguishable vocals in metal. Check out kill or be killed. IED. pleasure soemthing i forgot also his yell you u was unsure about is one of his signature yells if you hear spite youll like it
Darius' unique falsetto scream is the thing I absolutely love about him. When I saw this original cover he did, I remember not being that excited about a song since the Holy War album from TAIM. Awesome video bud. Thanks for all the tips and helpful info.
I would love for you to do some explanation of Sam Carter from Architects. He has great projection. But what I really want to hear you talk about are his pitched screams. He gets an insane amount of pitch into his distortion and I just can't seem to figure it out to that level. Their live footage from Alexandira Palace would have some good content Doomsday or Gone with the Wind.
I’m sooo glad you reacted to this he’s one of my favorite vocalist and if you could like Skype with him or have a sit down with him that would be sooo awesome ☺️🤘🏻
Honestly Ive been listening to spite for a good while and imitating that shrill yell that he does. There's is a way to do it safely. It's more like a bellowing scream, it's hard to explain thoroughly because I don't 100% understand it myself. But it doesnt ever hurt when I do it and it doesn't fatigue my throat.
I'm stoked to finally see you got some of the man in here. Definitely need to review some of his bands actual music, but, thank you for the content on top of that my man
It's sooo beautiful seeing this. My old band played a bunch shows with Darius's old band and with the other spite guys back in the day and it's sooo awesome seeing how big him and the spite guys have gotten. Super proud of them.
Got to see this man twice live. He absolutely destroyed it. Got to meet him, such a cool dude. He's a great frontman in the deathcore scene. Really gets into the music
I love this video from Mark for his reactions. I have watched alot of kardavox academy videos but i love his reactions to darius vocals. lmao i react the same way when i hear darius every time lol
He is amazing live. Seen him back in march in frederick MD. Fuckin killed it. Definitely check him out. What amazed me. I got to meet him before the show and he is so soft spoken just talking to him.
Ive never been into deathcore but thanks to this video i have just discovered spite and its owesome. Cant stop listening! Thats what i was looking for. Cheers folks!!
@@KardavoxAcademy I can see some diferences between europe and US in bands. In US deathcore is well known over there, here in europe.... less, or nu metal. I love these chunky heavy breakdown guitars like spite. I was more into grindcore like birdflesh, pornogrind like rompeprop, etc all very romantic Ill give you a present: sojouner, folk, black, melodic, female vocals, really epic. I hope u enjoy it. I love it!!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LtNCPWp4_xo.html I love your videos dude!!!!
Seen them live at a tiny venue in Kansas, I was literally 3 feet away from the stage and him staring into my soul while hearing his gutterals made me moister than an oyster
One of the most informative videos you’ve put out man...watched it several times. Agreed that deathcore vocalists are airbenders. Thank you for inspiring me to continue metal vocals 🤘
I have to ask brother what's going on with Viraemia??? I've been listening to you guys since 2010 and I'm so pumped for more new material! Glioblastoma was absolutely nuts!
Glad you liked it! Josh is a nurse working in the Covid unit here in AZ so he's has been so slammed recently. He's also pushing for better working environments for healthcare workers so there just hasn't been much time for writing unfortunately :/
It would be cool to see you react to Andy Cizek. He's crazy talented and ultra dynamic with all of his vocal styles, cleans and unclean. Check out Termina, it's his and Nik Nocturnal's project, but their songs capture a lot of his range in both categories. They actually just dropped a new track called The Abyss a few weeks ago it'ssuper good. Lucid is amazing as well. Love the video's btw, just subscribed not too long ago because I'm trying to get back into practicing metal vocals myself. I always take away a lot of helpful information everytime I watch. Take care!
I wasn’t a fan of his yell scream thing at all when I first heard of them but it just carries a different power and emotion than any other kind of vocal in my opinion
Great video, the only thing I can think about right now is your student at the end. Is that a cover of a Jake Hill song? I would love to see you watch one of his videos. He blends rap and metal better than anyone else.
I was concerned ass hell when your reaction changed doing that like yelling kind of vocal style bc i find it NUTS how he does it lol. But from what I know of he hasn’t had vocal damage doing that style. I’ve done something similar like Darius and doesn’t really hurt or feel weird doing it
If you want to have some research to listen to for his as you said false setto (sp?) Listen to the album Nothong is Beautiful. He does it a lot and there is a lot of interesting vocal stuff to pick at in between.
When I saw spite live on the chaos and carnage tour last year and during sound check, their guitarist was playing disengage and this song I was like 🤤🤤
Killer cover! Not sure if you have watched it but an unsung hero of covers, both vocally and musically is Fikth. The vocalist Dustin Mitchell did a few covers Unanswered being one of them and OOOOFT DOES IT SLAP
Itd be awesome if you posted a video of you guys video chatting. But definitely listen to everyone else here and check out Spite and do a video on that. My favorite song is Self-Destruct or anything on that album.
He’s so fucking good. I had never heard of spite before, but I ended up seeing them at a show in San Francisco. It was easily the best show I’ve ever been too. He’s got such a stage presence. It was so high energy, and just rowdy. I dislocated my shoulder, sprained my wrist. One of my homies got knocked out. Spite brings it. If you’re gonna check them out again I would recommend either the root of all evil or kill or be killed.
damn i just watched this like a week and a half ago because i want to play this song live! i needed some comparison to see what other people are doing and my fry screams especially the highs sound like this, rlly cool video
I just saw Spite play, a few weeks ago, for the first time. This dude sounds so fucking good live. His mid-range is so fucking unique. His vocals didn’t once alter or sound fucked. You should do a second video of Dairus.
Definitely need to do another video on him oooofffff. Darius just hits that perfect spot in his vocals that fall between anguish and rip your fucking face off. Definitely should coverone of spites originals though
A song that'd be worth checking out would be Merry Axe-Mas by Ice Nine Kills from their album, The Silver Scream. Their vocalist generally sticks to metalcore vocals but in that particular song, he incorporates some vocals similar to Dickie Allen's during the breakdown.
so the original version of this song was soooo goood (RIP Mitch), but i gotta love all the covers it spawned , Luke G does an amazing cover on his YT channel, this one is really good as well, very original take and he makes it his own/// loved learning and hearing all you had to say about the vocals, great video!
New to your channel and have watched a few videos. You do a very good job breaking vocals down! Also no offense and I'm sure you've heard it before, but you dont look like your would be a metal vocalist and it caught me off guard the first time lol. Mad props to you and your videos!
