I hear it too, and I love all of their styles Barbra, Billy, Melissa, and Lea. But that is the beauty of this song Lea is always going to be amazing but this was Melissa's first song on Glee and she gets the honor of not only doing an amazing song but an AMAZING one with Lea/Rachel. I would kill to have that honor

I think you’d really enjoy Melissa singing “Chasing Pavements.” She does such a beautiful job. You can feel her emotion in every single note, and she has the one high note that just makes you go, “Sing it, girl!”

They filmed Rachel’s segment at the BP Hall in the Walt Disney Concert Hall. And Whoopi’s character calls it the “round room” for its “excellent acoustics and not being able to hide in a corner” 😂

You should react to one of Kurt's (Chris Colfer) songs, he's a countertenor so his voice is super unique and I'd love to learn more about it!! Not The Boy Next Door has an insaneee high note at the end, it's easily one of his best solos on Glee!!

Rachel sounded great and such a good song for her in NYC. Marley sounded good too but she in hindsight it didn't help her intro to be presented as the de-facto new Rachel. There is only one Rachel and she was still going strong on the show.

Marley -the new Rachel This was one of the best duets, if you want to look at it that way. Rachel performing at NYADA and Marley auditioning for TND. Competition for Tina, Blaine, and Artie.

I'm glad somebody mentioned that Marley is the New Rachel. Think about it this way; Rachel performing at NYADA in the round room, whilst that band is probably top notch, her rendition or Barbara Streisand. Marley performing for TND, with a band that probably gets paid minimum wage, and doing Billy Joel's version. Either way, it's safe to say this was one of the best performances of Glee. It's also safe to say Marley WILL have had to make it onto TND no questions, and Rachel getting into NYADA.

The building where Rachel is singing is the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA. That room is actually specifically designed so that if someone is singing in the "bowl" section of it, you can hear them without a mic. The whole acoustics of that room are actually super cool.

The guy you were asking whos that. His name is Dean Geyer born in South Africa but moved to Australia as a kid. He got known on Aussie idol & was like the "young heartthrob" kind of contestant & then he went on to act in Australian soap opera "Neighbours" which also stared Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Liam Hemsworth over the years then years later he was on that season of glee. They didn't write/do his character great. His personality was liking Rachel

I LOVE Lea Michele and her version but I prefer Melissa´s if I have to pick one, this was an amazing duet it's one of my favorites, also it was rumored that Lea was making this song as a solo but asked to make it a duet with Melissa to welcome her to the show.

I really wish that they would’ve just let Melissa sing the song entirely and then have Lea sing it for her re-audition in another episode bc I feel they should’ve put the focus on Melissa bc it was Marley’s audition for Glee Club and having it go from the middle of Marley’s performance straight to Rachel was a bad move in my opinion bc it took the spotlight off of Marley anyone else agree

The point was to give Marley the importance of being the lead girl of Lima now. Marley also got her spotlight with Chasing Pavements and this song. This song though made way more sense for Rachel's character.

It's worth noting the context of the two singers. Melissa/Marley is supposed to be a 15 or 16 year old girl singing for an audition in high school. Michelle/Rachel is supposed to be an 18 or 19 year old student in a college class on music in NYADA. Oddly Melissa's version of the song is probably too good for the plot.

Love this song! I would have preferred it with just Marley (super girl). Rachel’s good, but not good enough to take solos from other people. Most characters got a solo as an into, but she was one of the ones that didn’t, and she definitely deserved it Edit: I just wanted to make it clear that I do like Rachel’s version, I just wish the show spent more time on the other characters. Especially the new kids that have to “replace” the old ones. No hate to Rachel or the Rachel lover out there

@@GA-fn8hr I agree this song should have been all Rachel, but I guess they wanted to showcase the new cast as much as possible in the fourth season opener. And while I don't mind Marley's version of Chasing Pavements, it does annoy me that almost everyone else (Rachel, Santana, Blaine and Sam, Artie albeit as part of a group number and even Will and Sue when they came to visit) got a big 'welcome to New York' song except for Kurt. Instead we got Blaine singing him a goodbye song (that seemed to be a bit more about himself than about Kurt) and the new girl, Marley, getting her first solo after joining ND.
