Anyway ONJ is so loved no one cared they probably just felt bad for her. Actually imagine Vanessa Amorosi in a duet with John Farnham our 2 greatest voices in Australian pop rock history.

I recently got the script for the first stadium rehersals for the 2000 olympics opening ceremony on ebay. In it were written mic cues for most of the performers on the night. While i can't say 100% sure that Amorosi performed live, I can say it is likely that there were multiple scripts for different segments and that her mic cues could be there. If you were to look at media stories closely, you would see that the miming was done by the orchestra but not the vocal performances and that some of the pieces were recorded by a different orchestra.

A mixture of techniques and exchanges of registers so complicated that they don't particularly know anyone else who can execute with such Hability. Simply the best singer of the world.

The studio version is different to this, but I can see why you'd say this is 100% mimed.

It’s been said At the last minute the powers to be on the night decide that they would not go live as the wind was so strong and it would play up with the mics and that this being the 2000 Olympic and the world was watching they wanted a polish performance as Australia was on show.. But some of the Performers have said they did sing live that night.. 😃

Agreed, this is lip synched (like Tina Arena's "The Flame"), but both artists could have sung them live no issues.

seanp7dc if I may question out of curiosity, how is it possible to tell that they could’ve performed it LIVE in front of a live audience AND worldwide? Just wondering (please answer - or someone else)...

@@mikewhite3670 No. It was prerecorded in a LIVE SETTING. Meaning it actually was live, and was being recorded as she sang it. She said in an interview she was not supposed to go down at the end but she was running out of air to get that last note out.

​@@mikewhite3670 I was there for the dress rehearsal the night before, about 5 seats away from the stage she was singing on. Sounded live to me (although I really don't know how you would tell for sure). There was lots of stuff at the rehearsal that was not actually "live" & the rehearsal was recorded in case of problems with the real event, so that they could use the rehearsal footage in the place of the real stuff for all later non-live broadcasts, or directly in the case of weather or other problems that meant they lost the feed for some reason. On the screen during the rehearsal, we could see what they were recording as a back up if there was a problem with the live version & what they were not. For anything that was not, there was big writing saying "not for broadcast" over the screen, so all the official addresses, the athletes entering, the flags etc etc all had the "not for broadcast" message on the screen. There was also no Olympic rings on the cloth during the rehearsal & the dove we couldn't see, if it was there, cause there wasn't people holding the cloth up, the cloth actually ripped at the first rehearsal because of the lack of people. I didn't see that one, but we were all told about it & the whole stadium were told before the start of the rehearsal what that stand had to do with that cloth, so as to make it work. I was also at the closing ceremony (not rehearsal, not sure if they even had a rehearsal for that one). I was in the volunteers stand at the other end of the stadium for that one, the stand closest to where Midnight oil performed, yet it wasn't until I watched the recording of it on tv that I picked up on the proof of that being live that was evident there, with the lyrics screw up. From where I was in that stand for that ceremony, there's NO WAY I could have identified if anything was live or not! Same story with where I was sitting for the Paralympic ceremonies, absolutely no way I could have identified if it was live or not, other than at the one where I was super close to the stage Vanessa Amorosi was on & even then I really doubt I really could tell. Choir was easy to tell, cause they were right behind me & they cut in & out at various times as part of the rehearsal as opposed to real performance, plus I knew 2 of the kids in the kids choir & I also knew one of the marching band kids. Pretty sure from memory the choirs & marching band did also do studio stuff to supplement the live stuff or something, I can't really remember now, there were other more interesting parts of what they were doing that I took more note of than that. I call total BS on your being able to tell if it was live or not just by being present in that stadium though, just wasn't possible, even at the rehearsal, when there was far more chance to identify stuff like that, or at least where it would have probably stuck out like a sore thumb if it wasn't live & certainly that didn't happen

She had the main Olympic theme song though & she was the highlight of the night! (at least at the rehearsal, the night before I know that that is how everyone in the audience felt, she blew away John Farnham & Olvia Newton John. Sure there were other highlights of the show, such as the flame, but in terms of songs & vocals she was easily the best imo

@@mehere8038 Thats your opinion!! I disagree on that because all the songs were written for each segment and person to sing it. And The Flame was the first to be sung and Tina delivered like always spot on. than Dare to Dream with John and Olivia amazing! showed the world how it’s done, then Heroes Live Forever and Vanessa sung her heart out theirs no doubt about it but to say she was the one only that performed the best is just stupid when all out artist were bloody Awesome 🧐😊🇦🇺

@@joannamatthews6473 I just got an album of Vanessa's this week. It's called, "Have a Look", and it's year is 2000. It also included the Olympic rendition I was looking for. I ordered it on Ebay, and it came all the way from Germany.

Jandi the Artsy-Rose the album version is not the same as the offical Sydney Olympic opening cermonu version. She sings the low notes in the album were as the Olympic Opening Ceremony version she sings higher notes in this section “Since all the history (Searching for a destiny) And searching for a destiny (Be there that we can be)Be there that we can be”

Please. Her voice is outstandingly much better than the 99,99% or 100% of the people that compite in those programs. Lol she has an outstanding technique and her tone is complitelly unique. Most of the singers in that competition are worse than mediocre compared to her.

@@Ignasimp I didn't say she does not have a great voice. I actually said she does...but will stand by my opinion she does not have star power or that wow factor. It's not unique in anyway. Macy Gray is unique, Aretha, Whitney. Her technique does not matter cause regardless of the fact she has been trained or not... it just lacks uniqueness
