Fun fact: the girl who plays Iris only heard this for the first time when they recorded this. They didn't do any rehearsals together so that she could give a pure emotional reaction
@@annatabner8459 she knew about the proposal and she knew he was going to sing. She just chose not to hear him sing it until they actually filmed the scene so she would have a genuine reaction
The Flash musical episode was full of great performances, but Grant Gustin singing "Running Home to You" was the absolute best and made me so emotional when I first watched the episode, and it still can give me chills and make me cry, even after listening to it on repeat many, many times. This is one of my absolute favorite proposal scenes, and I love this scene so much. If someone started singing this to me as beautifully as Grant did, I would say "yes" immediately, just like Iris did!
It’s hard to compare this one to his Glee covers, considering Running Home to You is an original song, and Glee was all covers. He was also younger so his singing voice got better by this episode. I highly recommend to try and find some of his work from Broadway as he was good there too.
I rolled my eyes at the episode's premise, but watched in case something important happened. This moment happened. And wow, what a song to go with it - not just *by* Pasek and Paul, but one of their very finest.
The song is just beautiful but I also like the little melody thingy they did when the song ended and they were hugging. You just gotta appreciate music with no lyrics sometimes. It’s truly beautiful.
I must say that Grant Gustin's performance of "Running Home To You" from The Flash is absolutely stunning. His vocal control and emotional delivery are truly impressive. One thing that stands out to me is Gustin's smooth and consistent tone throughout the song. He effortlessly transitions between his different vocal registers, maintaining a rich and warm sound. This is especially evident in the higher parts of the chorus where he hits some impressive sustained notes. His diction and articulation are also on point. Every word is clear and easily understood, which is crucial in storytelling through song. Gustin's phrasing and dynamics add depth to the lyrics, allowing the audience to feel the emotion behind the words. Additionally, I can't overlook his breath control. The song has some long phrases and sustained notes, and Gustin maintains steady breath support throughout. This is essential for maintaining pitch accuracy and overall vocal stability. Finally, the amount of emotion Gustin infuses into this performance is truly captivating. You can hear the sincerity and vulnerability in his voice, bringing the lyrics to life. His delivery is both heartfelt and powerful, conveying the intended emotions beautifully. Overall, I am extremely impressed with Grant Gustin's vocal performance in "Running Home To You." It showcases his exceptional vocal talent and his ability to fully immerse himself in the character he portrays on the show.
I have loved this so much and I know it is meant to be 5 eps long but Supergirl sang this song at Barry and Iris' wedding and it would be a great little addition to complete the set
I absolutely will always love the fact that this was an intimate moment just between the two of them. No other audiences, no other opinions, no other suggestions, just purely a moment between a man and a woman who are in love and love each other🥰
This song makes me cry. I proposed to the mother of my children with this song at 12am new years in 2018. Her and I are no longer together but are great friends and she and I co-parent well. This song... The emotions. Her and her daughter were and always will be my lightning rod.
not sure if you’d want to be stuck in thattt musical😂 you’d have to watch it to see. that song was an original for the show :) great reaction! i love that song and your reaction was so so pure
Oh you need to do another video. The Flash (Barry) and Iris just did a vow renewal in season 7 x18 with their kids from the future and the son sang for them. Their son Bart Allen is played by Jordan Fisher.
It’s impossible to watch this scene without tearing up imo, I can listen to the song and just love it but I can’t watch the scene without just tearin up cause it’s so good.
its her genuine reaction cuz they didnt tell her about this and they didnt rehearse with her so you can see how good of an actor she is to not break character
imagine if she said no cuz they didnt rehearse this or tell her about this so imagine if she said no. also this shows how good of an actor she is by not breaking character. also this is like a real proposal cuz she didnt know that Grant's character (Barry) was gonna propose to her character (Iris) cuz no one told her about this part of the script nor did they rehearse so its like her genuine reaction to a real proposal but i guess she expected that the directors wrote the hidden script as Iris saying yes so she just went along with it.
If I'm not mistaken, everyone who sang in this episode has theatre/Broadway/West End background. Also, I think you it would've been better to watch the whole episode for some context, but that's just me I guess lol
Two of my dogs crossed over the rainbow bridge this past summer. When I hear this song I think of them and miss them oh so very much. I picture us running at the dog beach. I picture us at the park and they are chasing squirrels up a tree. I know many would think of the girl in their life. I had 4 dogs. Two are still with me but they are old now. Now I caress their little heads softly as they sleep the day away. We go on slow walks. Soon it will be their time to cross over the rainbow bridge. I want them every hour, every minute with me. Thank you for listening to me.
This part of the show was definitely one of my favorites 😭😭😭❤❤❤ it always makes me cry. This is how I want my boyfriend to propose to me if I ever get one 😂
A bit of a throwback but maybe... What should I react to next??? 🤔 🤔 🤔 What do you think? Let me know on my community board: ru-vid.com/show-UCUd6f8IvYBlD7rz4cjOAMdAcommunity
That was Candice real reaction, they didn't told her, to get such an authentic reaction from her for that scene. And yes, it's an original, with the Series Theme melody =D.
I sing this to my baby sister as a lullaby it always works it’s her favorite, mine as well I sang it to my brother sometimes but he doesn’t like it as much as my sister does
It would have been nice to hear you say something about his singing other than, “ooh, that was nice!” (Though I agree, it was really nice.). Perhaps some analysis of what he was doing, vocally, that made it so nice, as well as things he could have done differently to make it even better. Thank you!
Grant would've made an amazing Evan, I just want to hear him sing all the songs. He did "Sincerely Me" with Darren Criss for Criss' Elsie Fest and it was so good!
Just started watching your videos, but this song alone ive listen to every night and sing along on spotify for the past year since ive found another coach doing this video. I love this song.
He's actually done a small life performance of sincerely me at Elsie Fest 2018 (together with Darren Criss and Will Roland) though he played Connor, not Evan in it.
What made this episode even better was like the same week or the week after (I think) on the sister show Arrow the main Character was being tortured and chained up.
For those unaware, Pasek & Paul also wrote the songs in Dear Evan Hansen and The Greatest Showman, as well as the lyrics to most of the songs in La La Land.
This was different because im a huge flash fan. so you think action and stuff.. but when grant "barry" started singing this and like half through i lost it. tears came out and i couldnt help it lol. i was so invested in the characters and this hit me hard lol
