Yes! Shakira is using the kermit sound. In vocal pedagogy it’s usually called ‘knödel’. Tongue touching the roof of the mouth essentially. Many singers use it at times. David Phelps, Lara Fabian, Whitney Houston, Josh Groban. Sam Smith and many others.

CrippledMerc thats what i would have thought with any other artist, but alessia is specifically talented at impersonating other singers/ people. You should check some of the videos she posted on her channel years ago.

Douaa Guermassi I get that, but I’ve seen lots of videos of talented singers who are really good at impressions of other singers and even they have to practice the arrangement when making a video. Switching impressions quickly while singing the same song is difficult, but doing it on the fly without any prep would be almost impossible especially if you have no idea who you’ll have to mimic. By having random names come up you’d have to take a second to process it and prepare yourself and your voice to mimic that artists style, cadence, and sound. I’ll look up her videos but I’d still put money that she had time to prepare and practice before the appearance. I’m not saying she isn’t talented (quite the opposite, she’s incredibly talented), and I’m not knocking her in any way, just pointing out that I think what they did on the show isn’t as spontaneous as they make it seem. That’s just my opinion though.

@@TheTruth-im6es lol ;) just because she's recording it with a kid in her lap at home and it's not a professional setting doesn't mean she hasn't prepared and practiced and hasn't sung that song a hundred times, maybe even recorded it a few dozen times... who knows.

@@CelilasArt What that girl is doing (Katrina) can never be exactly replicated, even by herself. Throughout that performance, she's making "on the spot decisions" based on her "limits/confidence level" at that time, at many varying moments because of the range and agility throughout the performance. Why don't you somehow get Tara to verify/debunk what I have just said ... What am I even saying, you can practice that til your throat bleeds, millions will not even come close AND being recorded at home too .. no professional devices and yet sounds like that, well then.

Another great review! Once again I've learned something about singing that I didn't know. Keep up the awesome work Tara. I'm one of the original Tarabytes, even though I'm not a subscriber. I don't subscribe to anyone. I don't like the idea of youtube telling me to check out a video. I'd rather it be that I enjoy a person's content enough that I REMEMBER to check out their channel. There are only three youtubers that I remember to check and you're one of them.

Have you ever reacted to any Makenzie Thomas stuff from the voice? Her voice is magic, i love her. Also I would love you to react to Tish Haynes Keys on The voice? Her Battle of "Sweet thing" or "lady Marmalade" Or her audition for that matter. She is so good. I love her. If you do listen to Makenzie they all are special but, id recommend; "Emotion", "How deep is your love", "because you loved me" or any other.
