I enjoyed your respectful and knowledgeable reaction. To give you some background information: referring to BTS as a boyband doesn’t do them justice at all. They’re all heavily involved in the writing and production of their music. Some of them also write/produce for other artists. They also have solo work outside of BTS. Their music is genre-defying, they do anything from pop, R&B, EDM, to hip-hop and rap. Apart from their incredible performances and live vocals, the fans actually love them most for their meaningful Korean lyrics, artistic concepts and message. Butter is a stand-alone song. Usually the songs are part of narratives that connect albums in story arcs. BTS debuted in 2013, they’re experienced artists. Also, the way they were put together is very different to the west. In Korea pop artists sign with a label as young people in order to get a musical education, similar to ballet dancers or football players being trained in the west. So they signed with Big Hit individually and it took three years for BTS to be formed. Most of them had different backgrounds in underground rap, producing, dancing, singing and acting when signing. To get a better understanding of their live vocals and artistic range, please react to Your Eyes Tell (written by Jungkook, I’ll leave a link under this comment) and/or Blue and Grey on MTV Unplugged (written by V).

@@mariebaumbach7345 I get what he was saying. That doesn't change the fact though that autotune was on the voice. That has nothing to do with whether his voice is low or high. I really don't get why people are making such a fuzz about the use of autotune. It's everywhere in today's music. The number of productions that don't use it is very small. And as I said in the video, whether autotune is used or not has nothing to do with whether someone can sing or not. It's simply a production standard respectively sound standard in today's pop music.
@@andreasgrussl no no, i meant thats not what you, Andreas, were saying!! I was talking about you in the third person 😅 I fully agree with you. Everyone is rushing to say "Thats their natural voices they really can sing that high!" when thats not even what BTS uses autotune for and most artists don't these days! Of course they can sing that high, but they use the autotune as an embellishment. I'm honestly at a loss as to why my fellow armys are so lost on this topic, since BTS heavily use autotune stylistically on the regular and theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. Armys should know better. I guess autotune just still has a really bad rep and most fans dont know anything about modern autotune 🤦♀️🤷♀️
I understand what you meant about stylistic autotune, and how their vocals are doubled (they use back track since they are dancing) but Jimin, the blonde one, really has the voice like that. You should check more of their vocal performances like Your Eyes Tell, Tiny Desk concert and Dynamite on Grammys. You will be surprised.
@@prinsessofia1255 Not maybe, the autotune is there, like it or not. And you make it sound like it's something bad. Everybody knows that they can sing, they don't need autotune for that. It's not only used to correct bad singing, it can be a stylistic choice, to give a certain sound and feel to the song. It'a a widely used technique so no need to go into defence mode every time somebody mentions autotune being used. 😀 It doesn't mean they are bad singers. To make it simple: wearing high heels can help you be taller when you are small but it can be a simple style choice as well even when you are tall enough. 😀
@@viktoriatoth5809 I know they can sing and I did’t want to make that sound bad. They are just doing hard dance moves (for me they are hard) and they can make mistakes and it can sound breathy too. (Maybe they used it for solething else but idk, this is logical I am dumb so leave me alone)This isn’t something bad. They are really talented. I mean if I were doing those moves I would be 1. Dead, 2, i couldnt sing because I am dead. So yeah...😗
Park Jimin is such a great vocalist, I’m glad you gave a feedback about his technique since it is really interesting to me, thank you for your reaction.
Other amazing live performances I recommend (turn on cc): -Tiny Desk Home Concert -Blue and Grey onTvUnplugged -Fix You cover on TvUnplugged -Your Eyes Tell live with English subtitles (really high song) The second person that sang that you liked his voice is V. One of the members Jin actually didn’t know how to sing or dance when he joined BTS. He as worked hard and has improved their voice. All the members over the years have improved their voices!! They write, compose, and/or produce their own music. They also very versatile and do a lot of different genres and mix genres. They touch on topics like: mental health, follow your dreams, regret, social problems, self love, etc. (many many more) Hope you react to more!! Thanks for reacting!!
Check BTS' Tiny Desk Concert. It's great! Yes, the one with the high voice is Jimin. It wasn't autotune. I'm saying this because he is known for his high notes (Jin too). They all have very solid vocals. Very talented.
Autotune was used on all singers in that performance for stylistic purposes. Again, that happened in order to create a certain sound, not because they would need it in order to hit the pitches.
I will take a look at the video. But believe me, there is autotune on his vocals. If you have experience with vocal producing you hear it straight away.
at first (when i was a baby army) i thought they always use autotune while performing, but then i realized that they exatcly sound like that, specially jimin. That guy's voice is really high, almost sound like a female and autotune lol
Autotune was used on all singers in that performance for stylistic purposes. Again, that happened in order to create a certain sound, not because they would need it in order to hit the pitches.
@@andreasgrussl yes i agreed, I'm not saying BTS doesn't use autotune, I know all singers have used autotune. I'm just saying that bts really sounds like they are on autotune. If you want to know their real voice, please react to this video, this video will show you them singing A cappella live, thank you! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6YwNoSnaVPs.html
I REALLY love how you explain everything! You even put the examples right after you explain it. Its so helpful. Thank you so much for your reaction and coaching too! :)
There are 3 rappers 4 vocal line Vocal line Jin never sang or danced before he was recruited off the street he was going to college and studying to be an actor Jimin was in high school and studying contemporary dance but good at all kinds of dance V went with a friend for the audition and one of the producers talked him into trying out (he played the sax for three years prior to that). Jung Kook( purple hair) went to a competition/audition didn’t win but was approached by seven companies- some really big ones- but went with Big Hit( a small company then) because he thought RM was cool. He was 13 and in Middle School. So no they weren’t picked because of their voices. Rap line RM and Suga were underground rappers no dance experience or singing J Hope was an underground hip hop dancer he learned to sing and rap afterwards
Jungkook was picked because of his voice. Why would 7 companies asked about him after Singing competition? He was main vocalist material form the very begining.
@@andreasgrussl I'm Korean and I enjoyed watching your reaction video But maybe it's a rude question, maybe it's your left eye strabismus, right? Why don't you treat it with surgery? In Korea, it can be cured with simple surgery. When I was young, my younger brother also had strabismus, so it became normal with a simple operation. I was just asking because I was wondering why you didn't have surgery to change your eyes to normal. I'm sorry if my question was rude, I don't mean to offend you
Jimin's voice is just really something, and I call his voice like an angel and he's really an angel in real life 💜... Jimin's voice is one of the unique voice in Kpop industry and he's the most member of BTS who hit supper high notes but all members can hit supper high notes too... I hope you will react more to their music and discribe their voice💜
They use autotune as a stylistic effect, like echo or layering. Not for pitch correction. Are you saying that they naturally have echoing voices and double vocals on their own too?
Thank you for your genuine and respectful reaction! And thanks for explaining auto tune, I think we hear the term and jump to the conclusion that it’s a complaint or judgement. They have songs in every genre but my number 1 favorite is black swan, it’s a masterpiece IMO 💜💜💜
BTS are experienced artists and performers and honestly speaking this song is really really easy for them to perform compared to their other discography
Yup! They are the biggest group in the world indeed. Like many other suggested, for singing technique purposes, you should react to their armypedia and tiny desk concerts. You will be blown away. You could actually hear their vocal techniques much better in these settings 💜
I think that you would really enjoy listening to their live version of Magic Shop. As someone that loves music, I think that's one of their holy grail songs. It's so stunning. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Thank you for this lovely reaction!
Thank you for this awesome reaction. I really enjoyed watching it. And thanks for also mentioning the autotune effects. Yes fellow Armys: BTS use autotune, like everyone else in the industry. It's just the modern sound and you are not able to get that sound without effects! It doesn't mean BTS can't sing - we've all seen them singing acapella. But please don't spread misinformation: Yes they use autotune, it's okay! They are still awesome singers!
@@andreasgrussl Yeah, I don't know if it is the type of video you'd want to react to, but there's a video of the youngest member Jungkook where he went live of the Vlive app (tens of millions tune in to watch it). The ARMY sometimes asks him to sing for us, and so he takes requests. This is a video where someone just took out some of the singing parts he did (small parts of three different songs) with just him and a camera: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yZPqYPjZ0fE.html - if you want to react to it, I think a lot of ARMY would love to see it!
I enjoyed your reaction. I think you'd like BTS' TINY Desk performances or BTS' MTV Unplugged. Most BTS videos have cc's, so just turn them on so you can read the words. Thank you Andreas for your reaction.
Well I'm not an expert but the guy you say he use autotune (Jimin) I have listened to him in a lot of videos and life performances and I don't know but I really don't think he is using autotune because I don't think he need it. I invite you to watch more videos and compare his voice with this... maybe you'll change your opinion.
for the record, all of their voices (at least all of the vocal members) are tuned in most performances. you'd be able to tell the difference if you give their raw voices a listen. like he mentioned, a dance pop track like butter warrants autotune usage as a stylistic choice. it does not take away from their talent to say they had their voices tuned but it's kind of a music industry standard nowadays to tune your voice and nothing is wrong with that.
Jimin has a really distinctive and u ique voice so i think he thinks jimin used autotune... which he’s wrong. Thats just how jimin sounds like 💜 he has super unique angelic voice!!! When i heard him at the concert live singing woohaaa i was shooked!!!!! Got goosebumps. I hope he reads some comments where they say they arent using autotune..
@@Sugafull27 It’s not easy for an untrained ear to pick out the auto-tune effect. It imparts an almost metallic brightness to the voice that isn’t really naturally reproducible (unless maybe if your vocal cords and throat were made of metal). When you hear jimin sing completely without a mic, there is a lot more warmth and roundedness to his tone than what you’d typically hear on recorded or mic’d performances (as others have said, there is a live version of auto-tune). It’s a beautiful colour (and a real treat to listen to!), but not the same one we hear here. Maybe we need a different word other than “auto-tune” for these effects - it seems that this brand name has become generically used to refer to pitch or tonal ‘correction’, and that’s really not the case here.
Hi, some things about this boys. *Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with the term "kpop". Kpop isn't a genre, Kpop is an industry in Korea that create music for kids/adolescents, and not all singers/rappers/musicians in Korea are "kpop" 1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers 2. Bts compose and produce in all their albums, so is very personal, they sing about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc 3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) used to read and search to understand the link in their videos. Their last album for example was "map of the soul: 7" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Carl Jung. 4. The army love them because they are good people who started from a company in bankruptcy, and even being famous they stay humble. 5. They have a lot of genres but their base is very hiphop / rap. Also you can find subtitles in every possible language thanks to the fans, u only need to search with the name of the song or Activate cc. **Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals. Not because we like a group from korea that means we like all from that country.
@Joung Kim the kpop industry is for kids and are the kids the consumer, any statistics of the Korean platforms could tell you that. theqoo.net/index.php?mid=hot&filter_mode=normal&document_srl=1773584521 And any producer can sure you that BTS have the normal or "typical" structure for their songs actually. The way the kpop industry produce their songs like that is exactly why they are for kids . Also koreans doesn't like kpop at all, is just a fabric of scandals in south Korea, Nothing but corruption and scandals.
@Joung Kim that's why there's a plenty types of cereals. Just as there are many music companies, and K-pop companies make music for children and children consume it. 🤷
@Joung Kim Not you bringing big bang the great example of what kpop is, empty songs, scandals, a corrupt company, idols who even ended up in prison, evading laws, with an audience 90% being children, etc. Etc. It's not that hard to understand, K-pop is a 30-year-old industry, and it has done absolutely nothing good. Even SEO Taiji has only recognized BTS as the only group that represents Korean music. In addition to there are other great artists in Korea who are not from the kpop industry and that the Korean public loves and respects.
I was a teen in the American boy band era.... maybe I liked *NSYNC a little but they could never lay it down like 방탄소년단. They just show they do it for their fans!!!!! Their hard work is to be commended. Love those boys! 사랑해
If you wanna hear their vocals clearer I really recommend Crystal Snow and Your Eyes Tell. These are sung at “concerts”. Otherwise their Tiny Desk and newly uploaded Festa Room live performance 💜
BTS is a genre in itself. Kpop is an industry rather than a genre. Butter is a video which shows their diversity. This is *not what they normally do* They can be called kpop only on the basis of them being from Korea. Important thing to remember is that they started as underdogs, shunned by the kpop industry who tried to crush them. They are still the outsiders but on top. Their achievements are their own. They don't owe anything to the kpop industry.
Thank you for your open-mindedness! I appreciate that you qualify your statement regarding autotune with the descriptor "tasteful", as autotune is often utilized nowadays for stylistic flair! Please do react to BTS more (Tiny Desk Concert, Magic Shop live, The Truth Untold live)!
i would really like to see your reaction to some of the compilation clips of their singing abilities, for example BTS (mostly jimin) hitting some ridiculous high notes. they also worked with iris stevenson back in 2014 and she referred to V (the second singer)'s voice as "soulful." lots of people notice the unique tone to his voice which is the deepest in the group.
Kindly watch their performance in TiNY DESK CONCERT (BTS) .. Thank you ❤ The 4 vocal line can hit high note. Jimin has brightest tone among them. V has the range. Some might say Jin is the weakest vocalist among them but he isn't. I love his high note and head voice. Jungkook singing is just .. perfect 😅 very stable even if he dance hard. The Rap Line has distinctive voice tone too.
their voices are definitely tuned in those live performances (the ones they did during covid, prerecorded without an audience) for artistic purposes, so you’re right but I can’t wait for you to react to more of their live performances, because there is really something special about their voices that sound like they are autotuned, especially jimin/jungkook/jhope ! I was so surprised when I first discovered them All the 7 members are sooo talented, and you’ll be able to see their stamina (singing despite their intense choreo and energy) and their use of sounds (diverse range for raps and vocals) I can already suggest you reacting to their live performances of « So What » and their title tracks medley during their 2019 stadium tour finale plus, as a lot have already mentionned, their Tiny Desk performances is a gem!!! but they have a bit of tuning on their voices as well
i really enjoyed your reaction and appreciate your honest opinion on their performance!! it would be cool if you could react to their tiny desk performance, i think it shows their voices a lot better!!
Sir, Thank you for reacting to BTS! They are the Complete package, not only can they sing, dance and rap they are also chaotic crackheads. 😂 They have great personalities, they work hard and of course their love for ARMY.💜 Please listen to their other songs too.
Nice reaction I enjoyed it a lot! I think you could enjoy a throwback to Let me Know live (which is close to their debut) and then to see how much they grew as artists: Magic Shop live could be a nice choice :) Both songs have great Jimin-vocal moments
Hello, thank you for this great reaction, really enjoyed it. If you get the time, we would love to see you react to some of their songs that focus more on their vocals, preferably live versions. Some examples: The Truth Untold, Your Eyes Tell, Crystal Snow, Magic Shop, Spring Day. Also their Tiny Desk Concert.
Glad you enjoyed it! It would be wonderful to see more reactions of BTS. They have very different types of songs but I would recommend to start: your eyes tell and film out (both in japanese), Black swan, Life goes on, On, The truth untold, House of Cards, Lie, Louder than bombs, Lights...
I loved this video hahaha it's so nice to see people reacting to my favorite songs! But I'm here in the comments for yet another reason, I think viewers can make suggestions right? I wanted you to react to the song "nobody like us", by the group now united, maybe you don't even know it, but it's really good, and released yesterday...
please react to their MMA 2019 LIVE performance. you will know what theh can do live and how diverse their music is... no genres are left for them to have covered
I'm subscribing because I enjoyed it but mostly because you pointed out the autotune! Most reactors don't do it because they are afraid of irrational fans, but I am an Army also and I love to watch an honest reaction
The parts you said are autotune are Jimin’s voice - the blonde singer you mentioned. It is that incredible and perfect Park Jimin, he is great with both Low and High notes.
I agree and respect what you said. If you wanna react to their raw voices I think BTS live concert would be a good option. BTS "So what" live would be a good example.

Yes they were recruited, but also they were trained/educated by the label Big Hit before they debuted. It can be compared to the career of a prima ballerina. And that gives better quality. In South Korea it is a typical way of making idol groups, but Big Hit has done things slightly differently and bts is the result. If you have more interest “the most beautiful life goes on :a bts story " by the Asian theory and “this is bts part 1" by xCeleste are recommended
I enjoyed your knowledgable reaction and comments. Would love to see you react to their NPR Tiny Desk Concert, their MTV Unplugged cover of Coldplay's Fix You and the live performance of Stigma (which only features one member of BTS, V, who has the huskier, bluesy voice). Looking forward to your future reactions.
Bts Practice singing while dancing every day and they been practicing 14 or 15 hours a Day imagine that and they been doing and together for 8 years plus training days👁👄👁💜
I like when people come at it without knowing much about the band because the reactions are more sincere and unfiltered. I've seen a few BTS reactions that won't acknowledge the autotune / voice effects and it bothers me. I do like BTS, I think they're talented guys but they use tools that are at their disposal and that's perfectly fine, especially since they have to dance at the same time. Better than lip syncing!
I know that many songs have autotune for an stylistic efect, but the difference here that many vocals coach confuse the voice of Jimin with using autotune because of the color of his voice, I don't know how explain that, but the sound, the color of Jimin's voice is that, I'm not talking about the hight of his voice but the quality. Jimin's voice really sounds that, that smooth, that twang, that color, that lightness that he have in his voice, if you hear all of songs of BTS you will notice that it sounds the same and also when he speaks his voice sounds the same because that is the color of his voice. I don't know if I let myself be understood and I don't know if that's what you meant when you said they were using autotune, because of the color and lightnessof their voice.
Watch Tiny Home Desk concert ( I'm sorry I don't know how put the link here) They just shown how incredible BTS are at performing live with their actual vocals. The best rap line and vocal line in existence!
Armys, autotune here is not used to get a high pitch, is just to make a voice sound a little bit different, we all know for sure that Jimin can hit high notes in his sleep and using autotune to give his voice a different sound is not gonna change it, LIKE THE OWNER OF THE VIDEO SAID. Why are you fighting this guy? BTS is not allowed to use autotune just for stylistic purposes? The owner of this video is a VOCAL COACH, he knows what he is talking about, mainwhile a lot of us dont know about this stuff and we are still talking like we all do. I just dont understand in which point autotune just started to trigger people people with the sign that "someone that uses autotune cannot sing", like wtf? Just bc some "singers" use it bc they really cant sing doesnt mean that everyone that uses it cant sing either. BTS is a clearly example in front of our faces: They sometimes uses it but hell they can sing like angels and we all now that. Just stop thinking that our guys arent allowed to us autotune, if they want to they can use it. On another hand, are you all aware that this kind of comments saying "they dont use autotune, is natural" just make the boys feel pressured to delivered what we are saying and thinking? We for years continue to say that they are perfect singers, they just hit that natural (which its correct) but we are making them feel that pressure to always be perfect and is not fair, they are humans, not robot singers, give them a break, just enjoy what they made to us and be happy with them
Autotune or not, they really nail it in this track. Thanks for the commentary- some 'vocal coaches' just sit there and add nothing to the video! BTS ARMY approved :)
Some of the commenters evidently misunderstood you when you pointed out the autotune. Guys, he didn't mean to say they cant reach their high notes without the autotune, he just pointed out that it's there, enhancing the sound. he made it pretty clear they don't need it 😉
I watched this just now. Loved your reaction and respect your opinions. I'm sure everyone has clarified you about that Jimin part lol (we're a Huge fandom so if there's a lot saying the same thing...😅), so i just wanted to recommend you to react to "the truth untold" live, "tiny desk concert" and "your eyes tell" live. As a vocal coach you'll like those 3 as a starting point if you keep reacting to BTS. (I have a lottt songs to recommend but i just said the first 3 that came to my mind lol) I love watching reactions from vocal coaches so i really would like you to react to BTS more. Thank you!
