"Bury the hatchet or bury a friend right now" oh my god, that is the darkest line in a song I've ever heard. It basically means "talk to me again or I'll kill myself" (that's how i see it, anyway)

From a producer, this is actually why is sounds so creepy: her main vocals are actually pitch shifted down to specific notes that pertain to the chords, not octaves and not a vocoder although it sounds similar. The reason it sounds like an octave down is because they turned the formant of her voice down to sound really deep

When the song (or singer, I suppose) doesn't include a lot of breaths, it creates an eerie-ness that makes it seem as though implying that the singer doesn't breathe or, in combined with this horror movie styled music video and song, like the singer does not *need* to breathe. The singer in the context of the previously mentioned style might not be a human, despite their outward appearance.
