Thanks for not ragging on Dimash about the occasional non-perfecto English pronunciation 👍💐. Some don't realize English is Dimash's 3rd language. Not sure "rock" is Dimash's preferred genre since he enjoys and employs a variety of genres 🎶🎵, often mixes/matches several types in one song successfully - just genius! 👏

Thank you very much for appreciating how much work it is to sing in a language you don't speak. This song had to be learned phonetically as he spoke very little English at this point. Brian May saw this performance and stated he felt Freddie would be very pleased with it. 💙💙💙💙. Dimash definitely makes any cover he does his own ❤🤗❤

His Mum travels with the singer too and she is a Opera singer. About the Queen song I believe one of the original members of Queen saw the video and complimented him saying that he did a great job of the song.

the high notes he sings at the end of the performance from the guitar solo to the end, they all sound like guitar riffs in vocal form to me and it's insane. he does it in across endless dimensions too and i always get goosebumps when i hear him do it

Rock is not Dimash's favorite genre. I heard him say it. He listens to everything but his main preference is classical crossover and new directions. But he does appreciate rock and likes to do some. Thanks for your reaction. Considering Dimash had a week to learn this Queen song. He could barely speak English at the time . But he nails it and makes it his own. I forgot how he was learning 2 languages Chinese and English. He’s so committed to everything. His hello performance is my favorite!! He placed second. Which considering he was a dark horse that no one heard of and he was up against very well known Chinese artists. He won them over !

Currently, the English language spoken by Dimash is much better. He also learns Chinese. He had little time to learn this song and he did not speak English at the time.Dimash always thanks the musicians after the performance. His modesty is known. When you hear Olimpico, Passione or Samaltau you will enter into new sensations. But that's not in this competition.

The contestants are all professional singers. Dimash took 2nd place. Sandi Lam a famous Chinese vocalist on a popularity level similar to Whitney Huston, won 1st place. Some Dimash fans feel there was a bit of nationalism in not awarding a a non-Chinese singer 1st place - but the judging/voting was by the audience.

I think the Singer got a lot of criticism for this in 2017 and that's why a year later they wanted Jessie J to win. I personally think 2018 was Hua Chenyu better. But this made him stronger and he won the next year. .

SO excited to watch another of your reactions to Dimash, Jacob--in my opinion, one can never have enough Dimash or David Phelps! LOL Thanks for another truly informative reaction, with explanations of the need for correct, safe screaming technique for example, or, considering his background, for Dimash making an intelligent choice to able to meld a rock song with operatic influences in this performance. I also think it's very notable that you spoke of keeping in mind just how difficult it is to sing in a language which you're not fluent in, as that's really important to some singers and their chosen genre. Speaking of genres--the way it seems to me is that Dimash approaches a genre (say operatic), which he conquers, and then moves on to the next......and so on and so on, each time adding them to his ever growing collection of kinds of music from which to choose, and then giving them his own 'Dimash Twist' with different fusions. In saying this, it makes SO much sense to me that he's setting his sights on moving to the US to pursue the western market, such as with the recent release of his "Golden" music video, with its decidedly pop hook...and undeniable look. And speaking of "Golden," after seeing some of his acting ability (on stage or in other music videos), it would not surprise me in the least to watch him continue to branch out into acting as well. I mean, this guy can seem to do it all!!

Thank you for your reaction and appreciation of Dimash talents and vocal abilities. I have been a Dimash fan for almost 4 years. I personally believe, Dimash is a Music Virtuoso of our time. He is from Kazakhstan and will be 27 (in May 2021). Dimash has been formally training and performing for over 21 years. At the age of 5 years old it was determined he had perfect pitch. Dimash is often referred to as the Best Singer (male) in the World. Dimash is known for his exceptionally wide (bass to soprano to whistle register) vocal range. It is recorded that he has a range higher than Six (6) Octaves and continues to improve his ranges and techniques. Dimash is a phenomenal Vocal Storyteller. Dimash will never discuss or confirm his octaves or ranges; he just says they are his tools to provide the best performance for his audience. Dimash calls his style an "Innovation" [Neo-Classicism] in the Classical Crossover Genre. There are many debates whether Dimash is a Tenor or Baritone. Many vocal coaches have the opinion that Dimash is a high Baritone. Dimash combines many Styles such as Classical (Opera), Contemporary (Modern, Pop, R&B, Jazz, Rap), Estrada and traditional Kazakh folk music. Dimash is multi-talented, Singer [12 languages], Multi-instrumentalist [7 instruments], Composer and Performer. Hi Jacob, love to see you back with Dimash, very much like your indepth analyses. btw, Dimash does like rock music very much and he is awefully good at it! If it is his favourite music genre, I don't know. He turned down an offer from the Astana Opera to pursue a career as a classical opera singer, and chose to go his way in the contemporary music direction, I guess that includes a lot. Hi Eter, it is strange that so many people don't like his cover of Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk that much, and it is hardly commented on. I think it is very good, entertaining, moving and he had to show his versatility which he succeeded, I think. Cheers from Vienna!

Unfortunately Uptown Funk relies pretty heavily on discernible lyrics, which means Dimash making happy noises on stage, no matter how well produced and in the spirit of the song, doesn't "quite" put it on par with the rest. From what i understand he wasn't too happy with it either, and he didn't place well that round. He needed more practice. It wad good enough to keep him in the competition though, which ultimately is what mattered at the time.

Dimash took second place in this his last competition. the first place person, the female Sandy Lam she was the one with her hands over her mouth. We have to remember Dimash is the invited guest into a all Chinese contest, Dimash is Kazakh, he is now considered the little brother to China artist, Even though he outsang & performed all of them. The President of the musical artist of Bejing & also a Music professor is now using Dimash's techniques in his classes he teaches. WE Dears call his language deficit Dinglish, it improves every day, even though he still says , I Very love you, rather than I love you veery much. Dimash Dinglish- I love it.

That dude is technically a total monster, really impressive, but his articulation is all over the place: it's like he is showcasing everything he can do and the end product is like something an AI might come up with. To this day I haven't found a better version of this song than the one by Rachael Hawnt: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hQ7obppzDMM.htmlfeature=shared I like it when the singer stays true to the original but really owns the song, and I would say Hawnt does a spectacular job from that perspective: she is technically suberb and her articulation is IMHO a perfection in that style. Please link if you know someone who does this even close to her level, and I guess she would really be someone worth reacting to..? Her version of "This is me" is also highly recommended.

No knock against Dimash, he has a supreme talent. But I heard a little 11 or 12 year old girl with a mic in her living room give a better rendition IMHO. Pyrotechnics are amazing here, but the soul of Angelina Jordan's version tips the balance in her favor for me. Dimash reminds me of Yngwie. Technically on a different planet, but I'd rather listen to Satriani or SRV, does that make any sense? Grit is its own genre. ✌️😎

Great reaction! The audience in the show it Chinese and I've read he learned the song phonetically as he didn't speak English at the time. He's learning English and now he improved a lot. Димаш занял 2 место, разница с первым местом 0,18. Причем, в финале (может техническая поломка, чтоб не думать плохо..) у микрофона Димаша был прикручен звук. Он подавал сигнал об этом, но никто не реагировал..

Dimash love all kinds of genre, but his number one favorite artist is Michael Jackson. Next is Celine Dion and Lara Fabian. With these three on top, I doubt rock is his favorite. Besides, he is classical trained and have a bachelor degree in pop- and jazz music. (He has a master degree in composition). Please continue with Singer performances, or other performances from 2017. Learning the pronunciation in just one week and according to native Chinese, it is close to perfect (though Kazakh and Mandarin is very different language).

I'm so glad you liked Dimash's rendition. At the time his English pronunciation was still terrible; but it gave me a window to gain even more respect for him as since then he has improved his English tremendously. This shows me that where he got to vocally, required the same level of hard work over 20+ years of continuous improvement. I can't imagine where he will be vocally and performance wise by the time he hits 30 if he's at this stratospheric level now!
