ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

In an interview Taron mentions that Elton and the other directors didn’t want him to imitate his voice all together, but they did train him to fit Elton’s more “Rocky” style since he was more of a pop singer (to answer your question on whether he was supposed to be trying to sound like Elton).

Taron also was trained on the piano with a piano teacher before the film. He wasn’t able to get it completely down, but just enough to have his hands in the right placements so that it looked like he was playing the right tunes.

You should react to Tarons two versions of I'm Still Standing. He sang a version in his own vocal style on the movie Sing and sang it in a more rock centric elton style in this movie and the differences are wild.

In my opinion Rocket Man is far better! One of the main reasons for me is that Bohemian Rhapsody was advertised as a very true retelling if Queen/Freddie Mercury but they made huge changes to the facts. I don’t mind when a Biopic takes artistic license. I do mind however when they act like they have stuck to the truth when in reality they’ve made up a bunch of shit and put it in. Rocket Man has been advertised as a fantasy Biopic, that tells the emotional truth of Elton Johns story, even though they change around some facts. TL;DR The main reason in my opinion Rocket Man is better than Bohemian Rhapsody is because Rocket Man was very honest about taking artistic license with the Facts, Bohemian Rhapsody tried to act like it was all truthful even though it actually had lots of fact fakes/made up moments.

Sad part is apparently Sasha Baron Cohen wanted to do a full on Rated R biopic about Freddie Mercury but the other members of Queen shut it down in favour of the watered down caricature we got. I love Queen but that could've been great

It wasn’t just that it was watered down, it was that they added fake facts. The biggest one being Freddie telling the band before live aid that he had aids. He didn’t tell them until two days before he died. It bothers me immensely that the actors acted like that was a real moment that happened in interviews. So many people believe it, and it (in my opinion) was an unnecessary add in. At least if they were going change something so much they should have at least acknowledge that it was fictional.

@@shana_bobana3501 I agree. I'm quite a heavy Queen fan so when I was watching it I just kept thinking "That's wrong" over and over again. It's sad because if you kept it closer to what happened you could've made an epic. But May and Taylor wanted a watered down caricature and that's unfortunately what we got. But hey we've still got Rocketman so that's something

I love how Taron sang within his range and ability and didnt try to mimic Elton. The only thing I would have loved in the movie is seeing more of the collaboration between Elton and Bernie in songwriting. I understand it's personal to them but I think it is such a beautiful artistic relationship that we never get a full insight into.

@@matilda.anne06 They wouldn't sit together and hash it out, Bernie would write a lyric, and then Elton would take that and do the music. The 'Your Song' scene is pretty spot on in the movie.

Nooo I'm not ready to cry again 😭😂😂. I love this film so much Taron did fantastic job, I'm obsessed with soundtrack. Rocketman will make me cry almost always as 2 or 3 other songs. And I'm still standing is stuck in my head since I saw the movie (both times haha)

I’ve been in love with Elton and Bernie since 1976 when I was so fortunate to see Elton live as young teenager. I remember hearing this song on the TV show WKRP as a child and being blown away by the emotion of the lyrics. It all came back when it was included in the bus scene in "Almost Famous". I always get choked up when I hear it.... Great songs do that to you!!!

Rebecca, I've watched this duet about a dozen times because I absolutely love love love it! I'm so happy I'm not the only one who can clearly see the love these two have for each other. Sir Elton played the role of the brilliant, legendary musician that he is while graciously letting Taron shine! The dynamic between them is incredible. I love how proud & I sensed protective Sir Elton was of Taron!

Please look up Keith Green Topic. He had a record contract at 11 years old to write music and for many years he worked for CBS in the US. He left many songs he wrote/co-wrote with his wife Melody. He died at 27. My favorite? So you wanna go back to Egypt.

Staind- outside (live 1999) first time this song was ever performed. The singer only new a few lines and the rift and made it up as he was singing. Ended up becoming the bands most popular song to date. And his voice is beautiful

There's a talk show clip of Taron, Hugh Jackman, and the gentleman who played Gaston in the live Beauty and the Beast. Taron sings the intro acapella in the voice he had before training to sound more like Elton. He was taught to play piano for the movie.

This feels like sort of an impromptu performance, it was supposed to be fun but ended up being more emotional than anything. Taron was excited, emotional, nervous, but still delivered, he does have a nice voice and not mimicking Elton in this one, it is his voice. Loving your hair, glasses, little tiara and observation skills :)

A few years ago Elton John performed with Sara Bareilles. They sang one of her songs, ‘Gravity’. It was absolutely exquisite. Would love to see your reaction. Also her rendition of Elton John’s ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ will give you goosebumps.
