The R in "Lover" is called a *rothic* "R" and is quite specific to the southern accent - and that's probably why it is present there. (it's not lovah.. is lov'r) This is typical of Virginia Piedmont southern accent. You will not get this in Florida, but is widely present in southern Viriginia, the Carolinas, portions of Georgia, Alabama. and Kentucky.

The art as a singer is about technique. The art as a performer is to become the song. When you have both, you move people. As for country music, once infected with it, there's no effective inoculation to cure that infection. I will leave it up to the reader to decide if that is a good or bad thing, but once you feel it, It's kinda like the blues. And once you feel the blues, then there's no going back. It is a musical form of freedom that has no equal and it is so liberating. Music for the musician as opposed to the music lover is not what we do, it's who we are. I was impressed at your analysis. You are quite perceptive and I enjoyed your commentary. You explained it quite well but most of all, you get it!

Denil Joseph actually the high reverb growl at 5:33 was chance and not tim. Thats why the video focuses on chance at that part. Chance can hit almost the same low ranges as tim at a much higher reverberated sound so they tend to use his voice to accent tim’s and its prevalent here.

@@arcticzzshadow8421 Oh, well thank you kind sir for explaining that to me. Both Tim and Chance are great singers tho
@themajor743
@themajor743 3 года назад
@@arcticzzshadow8421 Indeed - Since Chance joined the group they've had a much smoother bass/baritone sound field as they can either do as you've just mentioned or Chance can ease into supporting the underlying base tone while Tim rises to sing in whatever register is called for (pretty much means anything when you've got a five Octave range like he does). And of course the two can trade back and forth if the piece requires it. They do it so smoothly that few people even notice it happening which is really impressive.

You hit the nail on the head when you said "country digs its heels into what it is unapologetically". I think that's what makes it so great. I love country, country rock, rockabilly, southern rock, early Rock & Roll, blues,old school R&B and soul (ike 40s to 70s). Those genres (maybe not R&B anymore) tend to be very loyal to their roots. Popular music these days seems very artificial, processed and machine made. That's why I like the older stuff.

I really appreciate your clinical analysis of each of your songs. We all learn so much more about music and singing with your explanations. Thanks!

Love your reaction!! These guys are so good; truly educated musicians each & every one & it shows. May I suggest their official cover of "Helplessly Hoping" as it is pure ear candy that a vocal expert would go crazy over. It's their perfect blending & "skills" that make it outstanding. It's a perfect example of everything you are talking about. Check it out & you'll see what I mean. Thx so much for the reaction! (Fun fact; you mentioned Voctave... Austin [high tenor, main lead in this video] used to sing with most of those members as the "Voices of Liberty" at Disney World a couple yrs before joining HF. Small world in the a capella world).

Always love seeing you react to acapella stuff, it's a lot of voice to take in & your knowledge on technique and context for voice is always so enlightening.

They can do any genre. It’s amazing how versatile they are. The percussion guy is amazing. He was doing the harmonica with his mouth. They are terrific live. Love your assessment...and your voice.❤️

I've seen them live twice, and they are absolutely unbelievable. Yes, all of the song is A Capella. Their beat boxer is unreal, and every live show he does a solo section while the rest of them take a break. After Tim's solo (the bass) in this song, he drops an octave lower. He is unbelievable with his technique.

Also love your reaction at 5:35 when you hear Tim hit that lower register! He actually can hit lower notes...Ring of Fire, Blue ain’t your Color, Butts Remix, and several others.

I love your videos because of your appreciation for the artists and great insights and your own great vocal and demonstration abilities. It is obvious you love what you do and you pass on that joy in your videos. I have to admit though, i would watch the videos even if there was no audio because you are so easy on the eyes.

I was lucky enough to see Home Free live and they sang this at the concert. They're amazing and the vocals live are incredible. You can tell they work very hard and put such effort into their performances. The harmonica sound was done vocally by Adam Rupp the beatboxer and in the concert Austin Brown joined in making harmonica sounds also. Your reaction was lovely, interesting and informative. Enjoyable reaction thank you .

These guys are great. They performed "Elvira" with The Oakridge Boys and the bass note toward the end with blow your ever loving mind. It's not live, but a great watch and you should check it out! I know you'll appreciate it.

I think your description of the "skills" needed for ensemble is right on point... rarer than great solo work.

There's two other great ones for Home Free. "How Great Thou Art" and "Auld Lang Syne" to cap off the holidays. "Fishing in the Dark/Down in the Boondocks" is a great mashup, and there's some live performances posted up.

If you want to be completely blown away, you have to listen to Auld Lang Syne by Home Free. Incredible song by them. Also if you’re up for a twist in the group, Mayday is definitely a must. It really shows that the very talented people you think you know, really have a lot more to show than you think. Keep up the reviews!!

I know you don't do a lot of Produced music reviews, but the new single "Never Enough" from Citizen Queen would be a good way to illustrate your point about stretching for low notes. The female bass does an excellent job of demonstrating diving for notes at the bottom of your register with wide/high hybrid vocal posture vs high vocal posture.

I love their version of this song, and I love your review of the performance. You take the song for what it is without criticizing the genre, while explaining how and why they sing it the way they do. That's the mark of a great coach and critic.

You’ve gained a fan! You’re great at what you do! You catch the runs, notes, and all the other simple amazing stuff in their vocals that most people may not realize or notice. On a side note: this is my first time seeing your work but i can tell you can probably sing your buuuuuutt off as well. Would be great to hear it. Side side note: to whom it may concern.. if not already.. somebody wife her up. Gorgeous, driven, and intelligent. Great Job!
