I really really REALLY love it when people who sing this song angrily shout out "GETS" for "when she's bruised and GETS used". I know the climax of the song is really a little bit past that, but that's the moment that I always start crying and it hits the emotional crux for me. AND HE DOES IT ALL SO SO SO WELL.

His cover made me think oft a new story for the song: A man loses his wife who was pregnant and the baby survived. He doesn't want the baby at first, all he wants is his wife back. This is basically this song. Oh and he could be a baker ( I'm not a native speaker so sorry for my bad grammar)

His version is hands down my favourite of them all- of all the broadway and west end Jennas including Sara herself who is a close second for me. Jeremy is tremendously underrated.

Jeremy's performance here made me feel like I was him in all the moments he was singing about and it was gut-wrenching...every time he sings the second "she is messy, but she's kind" in that out of breath, voice-catching way, it makes my heart ache so bad, my mouth instantly pouts and my head tilts fully on the verge of crying every. damn. time.

I first heard Jeremy Jordan when he voiced the character of Varian in Tangled the series. I fell in love with his singing voice just there and the more I learned, the more I was captivated. I totally agree with you on the storytelling. Jeremy understands more than anyone else I have ever seen in the industry, that singing is so much more than just being a vocalist, it's telling a story with the inflection in your voice and the vocal cry and vibrato and facial expressions and body movements and where you choose to take your breath and 100 other things. This is why he is so captivating. The lyrics come alive when he is performing. Other people just sing the lyrics. Most people just worry about hitting the right notes and perfect pitch and he worries about delivering the message the lyrics are telling and trying to make the audience feel the emotions the author was feeling.

If I could perform this song even an inkling as effortlessly as Jeremy Jordan could, I would feel so lucky. I love this performance so much and it gives me goosebumps every single time. Also, highly recommend you listen to Alison Luft’s take on the song. It’s so good. There is a performance that is more legal that you can react to but the ones done on stage during the show are absolutely magical. Of course, most people wouldn’t (really, shouldn’t, technically, but some still do) share videos with broadway “slime tutorials” featured, so I understand if you choose not to do so. But I recommend still listening to those and watching them at least and talking about them!
