This is all Khan and he has one of the purest tones ever. No autotune for him ever! I've seen Kamelot several times and have seen him with Conception. He is a class act and one of the nicest guys I've met.
@@saintmastema17 Not at all true why it comes to these operatic/symphonic bands. The singers all tend to be classically trained, which is why the sound so great. Now they may add effects to their voice to make a certain sound from time to time, but it's not to fix vocal imperfections, but to add to the song thematically
@@jaihayes9647 Exactly, please keep educating people on how it is. If anything they would welcome an imperfection in their live performance, it would give them something to strive for, to better themselves, and show they are human. Their music is crafted by them, not some other person, so they put all of themselves into it.
@@saintmastema17 khan isn't in the industry anymore, and he didn't use autotune. he has an exceptional voice because he was trained in opera when he was younger. he definitely lost his high range compared to his early stuff.
One of my favorite singers! Roy sounds so emotional, he plays with tones and dinamics in such an unic way! He has a level of control of his own voice that is so hard to get! Genious!
Roy Khan actually studied opera in Norway, before he became a metal singer. I think it shows in his technique in places - and he has a tremendous presence on stage, very theatrical. He as a vocal range of 5 octaves, too.
Does he still have 5 octaves? His voice has aged, it seemed like he had a completely different tone in Ghost Opera and Poetry for the Poisoned than he did in the days of Karma. I'm not sure he can still maintain that range.
Roy Khan with Kamelot has long been considered one of the best clean vocals in metal, and I am SO happy we got a double reaction out of this! This band is one of my favourites and they are SO creative. This song is from their album "The Black Halo", which along with the one before that "Epica" are a pair of concept albums. They're designed to tell Johan Wolfgang von Goethe's tragic tale "Faust", and are such an incredible story when put out there by Kamelot. Sadly, Roy is no longer with them, though the new singer Tommy Karevik is wonderful as well.
I was going to ask you to review this concert, but somebody else did... Good! Roy Khan is back! I love his singing! He is one of the Best if not the best metal singer in contemporary music! And I personally love this concert. 🙌🏼
The band is Conception and they’re not new. They put out four albums in the 90s and reformed with the same line-up in 2018. So far, they’ve released the 6-song EP, my Dark Symphony and the full-length, State of Deception.
Yes! Kamelot with Roy Khan! Nothing like it. My favourite band and vocalist of all time, too bad he left the band, but it was probably for the best as he was being burned out and his voice was deteriorating. thanks for this, two songs too(the second being When the Lights are Down)
Messiah Marcolin For the WIN ! ... and "under the oak" is a far better choice :) here : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LIFZUPl6V0c.html what a range, what power rocking the place *high* and *low* ... I really hope she'd choose to present that song in her channel one day ...
Love roy khan... He is back with Conception guys Those feelings. Ive listened metal for long time. And what Roy brings to the table is on another whole level
This is probably my favorite Kamalot song. Incredible, emotional vocals. Just perfect. Brings tears to my eyes every time. Yeah, I'm Mr. Extreme Brutal Metalhead bawling my eyes out like a baby during this song.
I really do like your reactions! They‘ve got way more interest into the music you listen to than others Reacters do. And also your ability to listen to the full song, concentrating on the vocals but also recognizing the instrumentals just makes it a very nice experience to listen to a professional singer rating/moderating while your feelings doing these videos just give such a impressive chill! Meanwhile Roy Khan (Ex-Singer of Kamelot as you can see him singing on the video) has sadly left the band for personal and health reasons. Some years later, after his disappearment he cam back with one his very first Band called Conception. They‘ve already released their coming back Album called „my dark symphony“ I would lovely see your reaction on some songs from that album - such as „Quite Alright“ or „My Dark Symphony“ the self-titled Song. Maybe a comparissing of both bands - focused on roy‘s voice - could be very interesting! Have good time and keep up the great work
It really brings a smile to my face each time people bring up auto-tune with roy khan's voice, it just goes to show how much he has perfected his voice. Especially when voice teachers bring it up too! Years and years of practice, each and every single day; nothing more, nothing less.
You should also react to the new singer for Kamelot, Tommy Karevik. He is also in the band Seventh Wonder, where I think he sounds more like himself (in Kamelot, he tries to be a bit more Roy Khan-sounding).

No auto tune, this guy is the real deal....No doubt, seen them live, and I can't believe Roy's capabilities. So Listen to Conception, you will know. I have seen him a bit off to, so there is no hiding.
Roy is absolutely amazing, truly incredible at what he does. I would've gone for Elizabeth personally but I can see why a 13 minute song may appear less attractive or palatable at first. Looking forward to more Kamelot, though, it's such a good band in general. Great job!
Hello Beth! i swear , you get more lovely every time i see you with a new reaction. you know Roy had one of the most iconic voices in metal. Kamelot's current singer Tom Karevik is likewise very vocally gifted and sounds much like Roy. This song is one of their most touching. i am a former army ranger and had never shed a tear until i started listening to Kamelot and Epica's Simone particularly her most exquisite creation "the canvass of life."
Beth, You should check out Rik Emmet of Triumph, Either the '83 Us Festival or One Night of Triumph. And pick between "Lay it on the Line" or "Fight the Good Fight". Not only is Rik a astounding singer, he's a monster guitar player.
Roy Khan is one of the best metal singers ever, so I couldn't click to watch this video fast enough! Please react to Unleash The Archers - Awakening (Full Band Playthrough Video) - female power metal vocals that are incredible! The band is great too... :)
It's definitely not auto-tuned. Roy Khan is just that good. He's a Norwegian singer and the former vocalist of Kamelot. The current singer is Tommy Karevik, who is Swedish. The band itself is actually from Tampa, Florida in the USA though.
Finally someone did it, with Roy Khan being such an awesome singer I was wondering why none of the vocal coaches had done a reaction for Kamelot or any of the bands he has singed for. This is quite an old show, he's now singing again for Conception, hey released an EP last December and it's awesome, I would really recommend you look into it
Hi Beth .Great reaction to Kamelot - Abandoned (live) Roy Khan is a great singer . Your in your best color Green goes well with your your hair color and eyes .
There are some metal singers that use auto-tune, but in my experience (and I listen to a tonne of metal) it's always the metalcore, post hardcore, etc. bands. There maybe some outside of those sub-genres that use it, but those are the only ones anywhere in the metal scene that I have noticed it. Also as far as I have noticed, that metal bands that use auto-tune for some reason seem to only use it on the records, not the live versions strangely enough., and then that difference is very very apparent.
Roy Khan... one of may favorite vocalists, ever. It's amazing that Kamelot got Tommy when Roy stepped down. How often does one band get TWO amazingly talented singers? it must have something to do with Karma!?! ;-)
Thank you so much for all these reactions to Metal songs that show people what techniques and how much training is involved in that style of music and that it's not just "stupid screaming". Still love the Maiden one since it's my favorite band for ages... And my name is Marc too... Like your uncle... Coincidence? I don't think so 😂
Roy Khan still sings in church too. Someone told him he "looked like Roy Khan"... Oops! He was really nice about it and just said "I am Roy Khan!"..... Tommy Karevik sings with Kamelot now and is really worth listening to. "In Twilight Hours" or "Under Grey Skies"? I like that you let the guitar and keyboard solos play through! Useful reaction and analysis, as usual!! Thanks!
the whole Elizabeth trilogy from the live album One Cold Winters Night, had been my favorite live performance for over 10 years, beaten only by floor jensens ghost love score . its amazing how it shifts between the songs and builds up the story.
Yessssssssssss! The whole show is amazing, honestly, but Elizabeth is particularly noteworthy for how awesome it is (and better than the studio version, which is always great haha)
Please react to Roy's other band, Conception! They are super good, just played live again after 14 years. And they made new music for the first time last year since 1997.
You have to listen "Elizabeth part I", and "Don't you cry", really high notes. By the comment section you now are aware that this guy is a demi-god for many of us haha :D
Just found out that this one is from back in 2005. While since 2012 Tommy Karevik is the new singer. I only saw him once in a take for a project of Arjen Lucassen. And I was really impressed. Maybe a reason to listen to an after-2012 song.
OMG. 2:25 is exactly the expression that was stuck on my face for weeks after I heard and watched Roy on One Cold Winter's Night for the first time. Like "How is this even possible?" Every single note has its own attribute, shape, colour, intensity, attitude and it perfectly reflexes and complements the lyrics. And it's so captivating :D 7:29 you can see that Beth want's to say something but Roy's like "NO No no no, you gonna listen to me right now!" It's so priceless :D... I love it...
I would be curious of your opinion on Peter Murphy. He's an amazing baritone and the father of goth music, but he really works the mic in a way I've never seen before. There is a video of him singing The Prince & Old Lady Shade at a radio station acoustic session that is pretty impressive.
I just suggest him because this video made me think how we always focus on people who can sing really high and go "wow, look at that", but there are a lot of impressive things people can do in other registers.
I like the mood of Kamelot the songs give me these dark Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast vibes. Also I would like to see your reaction to Like a Stone by Audioslave if the loss of Chris Cornell doesn't seem too recent and complicates things.
I am glad to see you exploring more Metal. There are so many talented vocalists. Another to add to your list is Ravenia-We all Died for Honor. Or EdenBridge-Sunrise in Eden. Thank you
