Hahaha, looks like Mom beat me to it. It is in fact one take. Good ear on the compression. I’ve done a lot of recordings on this mic, so I’ve mastered pulling away on louder parts to make it sound as level as possible. So that plays in too. Thanks for taking a listen and sharing. I appreciate all the kind words 🥰 beautiful voice as well!
I have been in the music industry for 35 years and heard a lot of voices, every once in awhile (not very often) I run across a voice like this where it makes you lift your head and look at the person singing and think that person has a future and this young lady has a future in music. I truly hope she makes it big!
Hi Tara, Thank you for giving Lanie a listen. As her mom i can tell you that this was one take, live, sitting on her unmade bed in her college apartment lol and yes we were just as blown away as so many of you were! ❤
So happy Lanie got a big reaction from what is like a rebirth of this song. When I first heard this I thought something was up, because her voice is like Stevie Nicks, but so clean. I have heard her sing it at least eight times now and just can't get enough. Even watched a reaction vid...lol, just to see how a trained ear hears it. Wishing the best of luck to her on what I hope is a great career.🍀
I grew up in this era and Lanie just knocks this one out of the park. Extremely talented and attractive young woman. Looking forward to hearing so much more from you 🤗
Lanie actually brought back the music I grew up listening to and made it phenomenal. Thank your daughter for a wonderful job properly sung and created by her to make it HER SIGNATURE SONG, I am sure that Stevie Nicks will love listening to her voice recordings as we are. AMAZING LANIE, Please if you can do a song by, lita ford. Your voice would be perfect for KISS ME ONCE
Yes, Jack, I have cried on three occasions, simply because she sings it with such excellence. And I heart this rendition of hers for the first time three days ago, so crying 3 times in 3 days over the same performance. I'm sure Lanie will be able to draw some more tears from me as I continue to listen to her in the days to come.
Exactly. She knows how to enunciate her words. I am a student of Frank Sinatra. That was exactly what Frank Sinatra did in his songs. ENUNCIATE !!! Btw you can find me singing Frank Sinatra songs at Karaoke Nights around the Metro Detroit Area.
Best comment here, my first thoughts too. The original song, its tough to pick out many words, you have to listen to the song many times. Lanie sings so crisp and clear.
Yes, this was a one take! My daughter, Gavyn attended MTSU with her and I asked her when I first heard it. She is awesome! Most beautiful smile and her voice pulls you in! Great job!
Hi Lanie’s mom! First congratulations for having such a beautiful and talented daughter second try to find good songs for her to sing instead of that one on the internet ❤️

Lanie is flat-out BRILLIANT-- I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard her for the first time. IMO, one of the most natural vocal talents I have ever heard - (and no I am no music/voice expert) but as a Fleetwood Mac fan... She's got a GIFT, and her parents must be so PROUD.
Her Voice is Stellar, her comfort singing pulls on you to both watch and listen! She is a gifted entertainer! WOW. The last time person I can think of with those qualities was Karen Carpenter!
@@lesliewhite8054 Bingo... They both seem to sing so effortlessly - some are born with an AMAZING vocal gift and I agree, Lanie and Karen are in that category. Absolutely beautiful voices.
I think I've watched and listened to this at least 100 times. I've always liked Fleetwood Mac, but Lanie's cover, in my opinion, blows the original away. Just amazing!!
I tend to agree with you. Well, I'm not sure if Lanie's version "blows away" Stevie's original, as "blows away" is a very strong statement. But I will say that I prefer to listen to Lanie's cover, and that if given the choice to listen to one version or the other, I will choose Lanie's version. I never played the original Fleetwood Mac version over and over and over and over, but that's exactly what I am doing with Lanie's cover. But let's remember that Stevie knocked this out of the park, too.
She's phenomenal but to say she is "better" than the original is too far. Stevie Nicks is amazing. Only reason we're listening to Lanie is because of Stevie. If you want to say as good as I'll go with that because it's hard to tell if it was lipsinked it was so good and so close to the original.
Long time Fleetwood Mac fan here. Lanie absolutely ROCKED this!! I played Lanie singing it & just flipped my phone over so the other folks around(all grew up listening to Stevie)…and after the song ended..I backed it up to show them who actually sang. They all were just blown away at the fact that is WASN’T Stevie singing!! Lanie ROCKS 💪🇺🇸
amazing is an understatement, this chick just connected with so many people in so many age groups on so many levels and took so many people back to 1977. I can't get enough of this cover
When this video came out mick Fleetwood himself commented on her and was blown away. I absolutely love this song, don't think it will ever get old and can listen to it many times over.
Geez she gorgeous and talented. Watching her smile and feel the song instantly puts a smile on my face. This vocal take is literally perfect and I know I’m going to get flack for this but I like this one more than the original. (Not to say the original is bad in any way, this one is just that good.)
I've worked with over 2,000 bands over 35 years and I can guarantee you this is a single straight take. Not at all highly produced-- some light compression. a little heavy on the reverb, great mic and superb performance. She has a voice engineers like to call microphone friendly-- Nat King Cole, Carly Simon, Whitney Houston.
So you don't detect autotune? I definitely hear it, especially at the end. She has great tone and I'm not trying to take anything away from her performance, but I definitely hear autotune.
@@adiliberti Why do amateurs who know NOTHING about music production or sound engineering always scream AUTOTONE! You don't even know how it works. What do you think, you push a button and suddenly someone can sing better? Same for ADR software-- something I also do a lot of. So tell me how autotune is applied.
@@keithmoriyama5421 Why do people who don't know other people make opinions that are incorrect? I have been a musician for 44 years. I know exactly how it works, either in plugin form or hardware. Don't assume things about people you don't know. She has a great voice and most likely doesn't need it but it adds a more airy or open sound. But that's just my opinion.
I hope Fleetwood Mac sees her hears her and signs her to a one year globe trotting concert singing their biggest hits. She would not only attract all the classic fans she would bring in a whole new generation to fall in love with classic rock.
Just no! That would be a complete waste of her Talent. Lanie is an artist and as such she deserves to sing and record her own music. Anyway, she has already been signed by the Jonas Brothers and is working on an album.
I can easily tell it one take !!!! No lip singing there ,she killed it ,legendary with the vocals and the breath control the high and low tone notes is amazing !!! A star is born, don’t let nothing stop you 🫡
I watched this because I wanted to hear what was going to be said about Lanie's singing. I've watched Lanie's video of this song many times because *I love the way she sings it*, in fact I prefer it to the original song. You can tell that Lanie "see's it" so clearly and it's heard in the way sings it. She's gifted, a real natural. I wish her much success.
@@JohnGone-wl8uo you don't know what you're talking about. I'm impressed by Lanie! How dare you interpret this cover in the way you did. Stevie made this possible by setting a bench mark. I'll openly say I enjoyed Lanies cover of this great song. (It is better to me than the original) my hat is still off to Stevie and I can't see a reason why anybody would even try and critique such a legend of talent.. Lanie Gardner certainly would not.
@@JohnGone-wl8uo not sure what we're disagreeing on here. I just didn't think a need to bring Stevie in to the comment in the first place. Just two different, brilliant artists. When you compare the two you start to go down the line of one is better than the other and I personally don't think that's appropriate here. Lanie clearly has an amazing voice, she blows my mind actually. In saying that, I haven't heard her sing an original of her own. It's far easier to mimic the sounds of a legend than create your own.
As a singer. Mostly Heavy metal.. I can say this kid has the chops! Just relaxed.. Singing in her voice.. The little bit of rasp in her voice is awesome!
Best cover version I have ever heard in my life time and that beautiful smile she has. What a a talent she truly is and I have watched this video must be over 100 times and played this along with th3 original Fleetwood version but I would sooner have Lanie Gardner version that is for sure.
LANIE is one of the best new voices of our Time she deserves to be supported this voice coach help her anyway you can won’t be much because she’s already there but a little bit of schooling never hurts LANIE is amazing
Miss Gardner has got it when the rest of the world hears and sees her do her thing door's will fly open to an amazing young talented singer who is ready to explode on the music scene she is very special
I grew up loving dreams since I first heard it. Stevie nicks could never be beaten until this amazing talented wonder came along. Wow, I mean wow. OMG WOW.
I have been a fan of Stevie and the Mac for 45ish years now. Since working from home the past two years due to this pandemic I came across Lanie's cover of Dreams thru the youtube rabbit hole. I have heard dozens of covers of Stevie and the Mac's songs. I gotta say every time I hear Lanie sing Dreams it gives me goosebumps. Lanie's got an amazing voice. And on that note I have also watched tons of videos of voice coaches analyzing artists performances and to see a cover, THIS COVER, being analyzed is a treat. Thanks!
Tara, it's about time you reacted to this. I've been mentioning Lanie to several of my subscribed reactors. There are two female voices that are very hard to replicate, Stevie Nicks and Annie Lennox, but Lanie knocked me out of my chair the first time I heard this months and months ago. She is one artist people need to be on the lookout for in the coming years.
Favorite all time cover....Metallicas version of Turn the Page...better than the original. Second favorite is...this one. Also better than the original.
As a seasoned producer/audio engineer I can state without a doubt this is real-time. She also has some excellent pro gear and plugins and either she or whoever is doing the post-processing has a great feel to compliment/enhance her voice with excellent choice for reverb, compression, EQ. There's just a hint of vocal tuning, very subtle. But again that's her natural voice one-take real-time video synced. Hope that helps.
As an audio engineer her mic technique is giving me anxiety. It may have been one take, but that one take was not done during the recording of the video.
I stumbled across this today on a friend's Facebook page and had to find out who that voice belongs to. She has such amazing control. She does not over do it and try to fly outside of her range. I am a singer and am definitely inspired by her style and skill set!
She is the real deal I've seen her and heard her and she is a awesome and amazing performer and worthy of a record deal I would vote for that young lady any day
I've listened to this remake hundreds of times now and am still blown away like it's the first time I've heard it. Lanie, you have an unbelievable talent and are a little cutey pie.
One take, pure God given talent and she is probably going further than alot of the people who are playing and reacting to her songs. I love it and love the support and recognition you and others are giving her.
Her voice is deeper than Stevie. No nasal sound at all, so clear and the huskiness too . Awesome. I wonder why she didn't compete on American Idol or The Voice or AGT.
Her face and neck muscles seem so relaxed most of the way through. You addressed my question about the reverb. Agree that she’s got great tone, and I enjoyed her rendition.
As a long time Fleetwood Mac fan and having heard a few really good covers of this song I can happily say this is by far the best one...even better than Allie Sherlock.
Tone and phrasing is what makes this so good. Mix in authenticity and some southern charm and it's grand slam. Can't wait to see her in a small performing arts theatre someday...
Lanie has got it. End of. It's obvious. This was a onetake thing that she did and the vocal is extraordinary. I hear she's still furthering her career out in the wider world. Good! That girl deserves all the success she can get. Enjoyed the reaction btw.
I too prefer this version over the original, and I"m a 60 yo man that grows up listening Stevie Nicks singing this song. That's the version I've heard when I'm driving.
Thank you for being such a gracious class act in your review ... I have seen other voice coaches simply review her to poach traffic off of her talent calling her a studio made creation ... the way you encouraged people to visit her channel to subscribe was also the high road ... no wonder YOU have nearly a million sub -- well deserved!
Lanier Gardner is pure and unique in her style and vocals. That young lady can sing anything she puts the effort into. Just an amazing gift she has and the skill behind it makes it all the better. She is amazing.
Her mic has added reverb but otherwise I think this her singing. She has some instagram posts where she sings acapella and her voice does have that natural richness.
I don't usually like remakes, especially when the signing style is different, but I love this as much as the original. She souped up old school with today's style. Love it, Lanie. Would definitely buy it.
I'll be 65 this year - think I saw Lani doing this song a year or so ago ( popped up om my computer ) I fell in Love with her smile and the way she moves to the beat and the sound of her voice had me doing the same thing bobbing my head swaying to the Music -- She's good and Natural - looked like she was having fun doing - which made it even more fun to watch her doing it.
I love Lanie Gardner! I heard her sing this and her voice is so amazing and you can tell how much she loves singing by her emotions and when the words speak to you the song is sang with so much more passion. She has a beautiful raspy voice that Stevie Nicks has. Fleetwood Mac has been around for 40 years and the fact Lanie is singing a tune from way back makes me all jittery inside! I love Fleetwood Mac and Lanie should get more notoriety from Stevie and Mick for what she's doing because it isn't some skateboard being ridden she's giving this song a whole new meaning almost 25 years later along with keeping her Dreams alive.
The song is not only sung well, it is also perfectly aranged. Nice girl, nice dresses, smart look at the camera, smile in the right places. She takes the listener captive and lets him experience the fun of singing. You can see that very well in the facial expressions of Tara, which can be captured as well and cannot resist it. Just well done.
Great review Tara, highlighting things that matter most. I've been wondering the same thing (about separate audio/video takes) since I first heard it several months ago (I run Front of House and Stream Audio at my church so I wonder about such things), but i finally decided it didn't really matter as I've listened to several other of Lanie's recordings and it's definitely her vocal either way. Pretty cool that Lanie and her mom cleared it up once and for all too! If you want to sample something less engineered, look for her original song "Lesson To Learn" - it's been a fav of mine since I heard it. Doesn't sound like any effects were used which in my opinion makes it even more impressive - you can plainly hear Lanie's natural tone with her laid back style and it's beautiful!
I've often contemplated this. I think It would be impossible to fully understand the magic of Lanie's video by simply studying the vocals, nor can the magic be attributed solely to the visual aspects of her physical appearance. I believe the magic takes place when she looks into the camera. Her eyes pierce the soul and capture the viewers attention. Once she's commanded visual attention, she casts the warmth of her smile, triggering dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins in the viewer's brain. From that point on, it's as if she's singing directly to you, and you're under the influence of a kind of "love potion number nine" that your brain is mass producing.
Kevin I was wondering WHY I found this cover so Magical from the 1st time I saw the video. Thanks for breaking it down, I knew it had something to do with her innocent stare at the camera starting with the "hold on" finger point. Then the genuine smile on the 2nd audience stare down suggesting she's having fun or really enjoys singing this song. Love the head nods on *women they will come & they will go oh oooo" & when she closes her eyes like she owns that song by her very unique version. Now i understand what I couldn't put my finger on. At the end she's looking like she's looking for your approval to verify that she hopes you like it. And big smile after she saw her audience's approval. Laid back, crossed legs singing style with PJ style outfit shows her confidence without trying hard at all.
It really is better having heard the original afterward. VERY well performed. Lanie kind of let a positive thing slip in her response, practice... makes perfect... (She knows her mic.) She's on facebook as well so check her out there as well.
I agree. Have listened to her cover back to back with the original. Her voice is better and the song is better without all the backup signing that is in the original. So I prefer Lanie's version.
Recently heard this and have to admit that being a long time Stevie Nick's fan, Lanie rocks it!!! Keep up the good work, we all love your voice and your personality when performing
*Today's Super Star, Lanie Gardner, definitely has a sublime captivating voice that's effortless and so silky smooth, pleasing to the ears and she's a cutie too!* *Her range maintains a pure quality that needs no help to enhance her range, it's all natural. There are very few people in the world that have this natural ability, but when you hear them sing, some may need these enhancements you speak of, unlike Lanie Gardner!, she's one in a million to be sure!* 🥰 🥰 🥰
In short, THE best cover I ever heard...by anyone...EVER!!! Just look at hers body movement. Almost, if I've had the sound turned down I would recognise the song she is singing. PURE PERFECTION!!!!
F Mac fan here. Every time I see a link to this song from Lanie, I watch it. Mesmerizing with Goosebumps. My wife said “You’ve probably watched this a thousand times.” Yup. I’ll probably watch it a thousand more. Thank you for sharing Lanie.
