@Slinky TV I do know other singers, but Chester's voice and range was unique enough that it'd be very difficult to find another with anything close.
@passionsquietrage
@passionsquietrage 5 лет назад
@Slinky TV So how does it not make sense? If it'll clarify, I'm referring to the fact that some singers' voices are famous and iconic for being as unique as they are. Chester was one of those singers.
@disrupt94
@disrupt94 5 лет назад
@Slinky TV Bennington's strenght is in his variety and tonal quality. Never heard JMK perform acoustic ballads like chester did for instance, though his live consistency is just brilliant and he's by no means bad at melodic singing. " Freddy Mercury too," Mercury struggled hard with his high notes live. Freddie was fantastic at expressing himself, but there's a whole world of vocals that he barely touched. MJK and Bennington were superb at adding compression and distortions for those raspy high notes, taking it all the way to straight up screaming. Closest Freddie's gone to this was give me the prize imo. " Chester is great and all but don’t said there will never be anyone who has his talent, there are way better singers, the world is crazy. " What constitutes a "great singer" is personal, and often arbitrary. The singer with the widest range might not have the best tonal quality, pitch controlll, live consistency etc... Unless we agree on critieria, trying to pinpoin the greatest talent is nothing more than subjective interpretation.

Beth - thanks for reacting to this. Its worth checking out Mike Shinoda - Over Again. It’s more hip-hop/rappy than the stuff you normally look at, so maybe not even for a reaction, but it is the other vocalist released a few months after Chester’s death, talking about the subject. Hard to listen to. Be good to see your reaction, but even check it out ‘just cause’ because it’s worth a listen

I'm gonna be honest, ive never listened to too much Linkin Park, just the main hits, and I had never heard this song, but my god, from the start, my eyes started to get watery, bc I can relate to his mental health issues so well and knowing who he was and stuff really hit me and when he hit the note at 6:33 I literally almost burst into tears, and I cant put into words exactly why, but it like, hit me straight in the heart, it wasn't like an incredible note or astonishing, but I could feel it and it rippled in my heart for some unknown reason. I think I'm gonna start listening to more from these guys. I've been ignorant to their music for far too long. Rest in peace Chester Bennington

I had a 40yr class reunion this past Saturday. I only found out about it a couple of days before it was to happen. I already had plans but decided to change them because there are friends from HS that I may never get the chance to see again. Also one of my HS friends took his own life recently which is probably why I'm so affected by this song right now. We had exchanged phone numbers again at the viewing of another buddy's passing. I'm just shaking my head because it was the best physically and mentally that I had seen him since we graduated. At the reunion a balloon was released for everyone that has past. I just stared into the sky with tears coming down my face as they kept getting higher and higher out of sight. I'm feeling the loss of them being gone and emotions that I usually keep in check. I was in the car driving, my daughter with me, the day after when I heard this song and it brought me to tears very quickly because it fits perfectly for me with the releasing of those balloons. RIP Chester and those from the AHS class of '83. Y'all are loved and missed. Sorry if this was long

It's really easy to get tunnel vision when you have negative thoughts / emotions or are going through some kind of trauma. It becomes so hard to see that there are positive things either around you or that can come in the future. You almost have to force yourself to pause and look around with your eyes really wide open. Sometimes just making it through a day should be seen as a victory. String enough days together and you can find things starting to improve. Force yourself to do something. Go for a walk, watch a film, listen to an album, talk to someone - anything.

Chester had an amazing voice and range in my opinion, not many can master both singing and the “metal screaming” especially when performing live. I’d say that Chester and the singer of Disturbed (forgot his name at the moment) are the best at it that I know of. I truly love both Linkin Park and Disturbed, much because of the incredible talent they have. I remember when hearing Linkin Park for the first time, it was a music video on MTV and I just finished watching the video, put coat and shoes on and went to the local shop that sold home electronics and CD’s and I bought a copy of Hybrid Theory which had just been released at the time, and then when Meteora came around I bought a copy of that as soon as I could and it was a CD I could listen to on repeat, and still listen to to this day from time to time, though on Spotify nowadays. I’m not a singer or a professional musician by any means (I really don’t count playing violin for 5 years and a bit to be professional) but I know a talent when I hear it. I can be very picky with music and dislike a lot of what’s played on the radio, if I do like something it’s usually for a good reason lol I tend to like fusion music such as Linkin Park, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Metallica and so on where they just mix different styles of music into one song basically, I’m also a huge Queen fan and find it amazing how 4 people with such incredible talent just happened to meet like that and form a band!

This song has always gotten me in my feelings and this live version made it even worse. Hearing his own emotions come through hits home. It really hit when he screamed out that one part... it was so unexpected and you could just feel his release of hurt in it. I love live performances because when artists really feel something in it you can hear it so much better than the recorded version. I wish the recorded versions of songs allowed those emotions to come out as well. Music and art should always be able to be felt and expressed in this way.

Well, by now I am 19 and still breathing. Scarred after the attempt, but not at the end of my story. I made it to 2:35 and couldn’t continue. I’m too choked up. Thank you for honouring him this way.

Watching the 3 hour tribute and seeing some great rock singers struggle to sing/scream his parts... shows you how good he was.
