And what makes her cover better, is that it is a remake of her own cover. She first recorded Alone during her days in After Forever. That one was also just her and a piano. Though, I am permanently scarred by watching that one live, with Marco saying "She's gonna do it! She's gonna do it!!" I can't listen to that song - regardless of version - without picturing that!

I advise you to make a reaction to poet and the pendulum (wembley 2016 with lyrics) but before that, find out the background of the song and its meaning. This is a prime example of art in contemporary music.
If you want to see what Floor can really do with rough vocals, you should definitely check out Yours is an Empty Hope live at Wembley. Ghost River (also from Wacken) has a bit of that as well as some more lovely back and forth between Floor and Marco.
Just so you know, be weary of the HD uploads from wacken 2013 on youtube. Alot of them are slowed down by 4% due to an error in uploading them. There is a remastered HD version of the whole concert on youtube if you search "Nightwish Wacken 2013 correct speed." It's a minor detail but you can definitely tell on some of the songs that it is a little slowed down. Keep checking out NIghtwish though, they are an epic band!

There seems to be a myth among the NW community that some of these videos are slowed down, but I compared them to the official CD release and they are the exact same speed. There may have been some slow versions around at some point in the past, but I can find no evidence of it in the versions that show up at the top of a YT search & have the most views.
@@Timmayytoo There was a problem in the Showtime - Storytime Bluray release where they accidentally converted the video between 24 FPS and 25 FPS, which resulted in roughly 4% slowing down in the released version that is available for purchase. That's the only one with this issue as far as I know.

Marko The bass player who does background vocals was the lead vocalist in his previous band Tarot and has pretty much worked with almost any musician in Finland scene in various projects as well participated in Ayreon Universe ( Ayreon is a project by Dutch Composer multi-instrumentalist Arjen Lucassen who usually writes his songs with specific character concepts for each vocalist and invites the best vocalists in the scene to participate so he has worked so far with vocalists from Kamelot, Nightwish, Blind Guardian Toehider, Mayan, Symphony X , Avantasia Dream Theater, Epica, Pagans Mind, Nightmare... to name a few). In Nightwish he often does duets with Floor apart of doing backup vocals he also has some lead vocal roles on some songs and is one of 2 people ( along with Troy the multi-instrumentalist of the band who is currently their third vocalist and in last Album had also a lead vocal role in one song) who could wear a shirt saying " Floor Jansen is my back-up vocalist" ;)

Romanticide = you are killing your own romance. So Marko is playing more the opponent of Floor instead of being her background singer. It’s an once loving couple became more and more a fight until nothing of the previous love is left. Marko Hietala is more than the bassist of Nightwish. He’s also vocalist and with them since 2001. Hietala is also the lead singer/songwriter in the Finnish band Tarot. He has been playing guitar and bass since he was twelve and studied classical guitar, singing and music theory at a university of applied sciences for three years. Then he studied bass guitar and music theory at a conservatory for two more years. There are a couple of NW songs Marko has the leadsinger position. That "organ" is just a prop. Someone mentioned it might be Tuomas' nod to Jean Sibelius, a Finnish composer whose mind gave us Finlandia among many compositions. We have the Sibelius Monument in Helsinki since 1967 and it looks like a floating cluster of organ pipes (pipes are actually hollow).
Your reactions to Nightwish are the same as me. I heard them for the first time about 5 months ago, and it is indeed, opening a rabbit hole. And why have we never heard of them before in America. Especially since they have been around since 96. They have become my favorite group to listen to. I can't get enough. I rarely turn on my radio or xm radio in my vehicle anymore. I link up my phone to my truck and constantly listen to them. If has indeed become a great journey into great music.

Wacken, Wembley, Tampere, und Buenos Aires are all wunderbare however, Songs like Weak Fantasy und Greatest Show on Earth seem to favor the Tampere concert. Bassist Marco is also a klass singer.
Marco, on bass, watch "The Islander" live at Tempere. You won't regret it. Folkish, but really shows his singing ability as well as his playing ability. One of my favorites. As far as Floor Jansen, Everdream, live same concert, Ghost River, Dark Chest of Wonders then Storytime, Nemo. Just the beginning of an excellent catalog of music. I could keep going.
Been a fan of Nightwish for over 20 years in the US a co worker from Demark was into metal/rock mostly US bands when we were chillin out at his house with our wife’s listening to different rock bands when he said hey wanna listen to a band called Nightwish? This old metal head was hooked. Still can’t tell you why they aren’t known in the US? Good luck on your journey, listen to the Nightwish army and your not going into a rabbit hole but a huge worm hole. Check out Ghost River, Yours is A Empty Hope (Wacken)floor growls.. and if you want to be confused( excited) overwhelmed you did say more concerts with Floor ( no flames) check out the Band Epica, Sancta Terra, Retrospective show, I’m only recommending this because your a vocal coach Epica Lead singer Simone Simons & Floor Jansen sing together. And are friends. Nightwish fans love Epica & visa versa. Plus as you go down the worm hole this WILL be a big suggestion by Nightwish fans. Floor growling, try ReVamp - Disdain live at Graspop 2010. She has been in several bands through the years. Started in After Forever (late 90's-2008) then founded ReVamp (disbanded in 2016). More recently (2018) did a side project called Northward. Also, she has been doing covers and vocal classes on her channel since the relockdown in Sweden. Emppu plays his custom ESP EV1.

Do note Marco was a lead singer already when Floor was one year old :-D If you want to hear more Finnish gems, I have couple of suggestions: 1) Wintersun: Sons of Winter and Stars, live rehearsal. When it comes to composition and layers, Nightwish is like the mainstream take and Wintersun is for the dedicated fans. No wonder Nightwish has later picked not just one but two people from that band to their ranks. Jari, the mastermind behind the band, is a really multi-talented artist on vocals, composition and various instruments. He decides what kind of color each part of each verse needs and then trains until he can do it just like that. 2) Battle Beast: Where Angels Fear to Fly. They are aiming to be the next station-sized Finnish band, and Noora, their lead vocalist, is indeed the best current Finnish female metal singer. She can add Janis Joplin levels of grit when needed, but even without grit her voice is strong and rich.
So you like the sound of her growls and you want to check out another concert? I would say check out "yours is an empty hope" at Wembley arena, also you might like "the islander" live at Tampere. In that song Marko sings lead and Floor does the backup vocals.
Omg...It is a bundle of fun seeing you discover more Floor! Nightwish is a rabbit hole to find the bottom of! Their music and lyrics are amazing. The keyboardist Tuomas is a mastermind of writing emotion filled music, and Floor is a master of rendering emotion. Also try on some classical Floor and her friend Simone from Epica doing Stabat Mater Dolorosa. It is redic. Check out Epica later on too. They shred hard also.

Hi, they know about Nightwish in the US also, because every world tour they also perform in the US. But it's not on the radiostations I guess... Miss Floor Jansen has even in her own country the Netherlands (same as me) been more or less unknown, until she performed in the tv show Beste Zangers, zou can find the video's also on you tube, she does amon others also the song Shallow of Lady Gaga, and Phantom of the Opera. You can also hear Floor Jansen sing: O mio babino caro, Puccini that you can find on you tube also.

In the song Yours Is An Empty Hope she growls the chorus while Marco has clear vocals, crazy combo! You have to check Ghost River too for another epic vocal duel between them. For later stages of your Nightwish discovery you have to see Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley and Greatest Show On Earth from Tampere, where their musical and vocal talent is displayed to the max! :)

You have just began to your journey of Nightwish and hear 2 songs of them and now you have a litle idea what Nighwish can do what i love about Nightwish is that they kind of step down a litle bit for whatever fits the song they're playing Emmpu can shred his guitar like hell but he doesn't do that often, in this song he does because it fits the song but in Ghost love score he did a solo that sounded a lot easier but that is what the song needed and all the members are capable of doing just that. Floor can growl like most men can't do (yours an empty hope live at Wembley) you realy don't believe it is Floor doing the growls and Marco (bassist) does the clean vocals and there a a lot of songs you need to hear....i suggest start at the first song of Wacken 2013 and work your way up to the setlist but it is you channel have fun and thnx for the great reaction an greetings from the Netherlands
Bassist Marko is also very good vocalist. He take lead vocals some songs too. There is also third vocalist Troy who mostly do backing vocals/harmonies an plays multiple instruments. If you want to see them different arena suggest Dead Boys Poem(live Buenos Aires 2018), This ballad type of song, Devil and Deep Dark ocean (Live Buenos Aires 2018), heavier song, Shudder Before Beautiful(live Wembley 2015), opening song to concert or if you want to see Troy I want my tears back live Wacken or Buenos Aires, Folk vibe this song.
The band has only got better over time, as Floor was only a touring singer at this stage. Floor officially joined the band along with Troy shortly after this concert and the chemistry of the band has grown. A fun song is I want my tears back at Buenos Ares 2019 (one big party).
Slowed down version strikes again! Thank you for doing another Nightwish video! We have a voracious appetite, so, you know... do more. ;-) Per the keyboard stand, some PVC pipe, MDF, liquid nails, black and gold spray paint and some creativity and you could almost assuredly approximate it pretty well. It's just a prop, after all. It's meant to look good and hold Tuomas' bottle of wine. ;-)
This must be from the Blu-ray version of Showtime Storytime. The people who did the Blu-ray recorded it 1 fps slower than it was supposed to be. That's why this version is slightly off. 1 fps doesn't sound like it would make a difference but it really does when you hear it compared to the normal speed version.
