Iconic song and this particular performance, all the angst etc, poured out from within through her voice. They do but because it's not one of the 'superstars' singing them, they're barely heard and remain undetected- the music industry has never been more about 'who you know' than it is these days. There's a myriad of talented singer/songwriters here on RU-vid that have barely any views.

I saw her three times. First time on Dranouter Folk Festival in Belgium (and this is a long time ago). She was headliner and performed almost three hours. First two hours with band and the last hour just Sinead ... pure voice singing hymnes, no instuments nothing but an angelic voice. If one calls something a goosebump/ethereal moment (and no, I hadn't smoked anything 'funny' at that moment 😛)., this was it! Second and third time, I saw her at the Proms in Antwerp, first concert where she opened with Troy and got a standing ovation after the first song (she even got confused and thought she had finished and came back on stage after she realised - rememberable moment) and then with Simple Minds. Simply Mind(s) blowing. RIP dear Sinead, no-one should ever have to go through so much pain.

I checked a few different bios of Sinead's and couldn't find anything about formal musical training. And yet, after listening to this great video there's so much technique in what she's doing I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. I feel it's because of what the coach says here about being swept into the searing emotion of this great singer's performance. Sinead was a singer's singer, she found her true calling, RIP.

It's kinda astonishing how PERFECT this song is.....Sinead's version of it. She took a perfectly written song....and delivered it...perfectly. I love how very simple it is. Just a diatonic chord progression over a very simple back beat....with a fully genuine human emoting over top in a way that cuts right to your soul. This is why I love pop music...because every so often a song is created that is just so perfect it's hard to believe we're lucky enough to even witness it. This is absolutely one of those songs.

What an amazing woman with a fantastic unique gift. She was way ahead of her time and fought hard for what she believed in and never bowed down to others. I was very sad to hear of her passing she will be forever in our hearts and memories, no one will compare to Miss O'Connor, she had a beauty about her that she didn't need much to shine it came from within. Thank you for doing this Georgina. I will also tell you about a young girl called Ines Santos (Portuguese singer) she represented Portugal in 1998. In 1995 at the tender age of 16 she went on the Portuguese version of stars in their eyes, fresh faced with long hair, the presenter asked her if she had ever done any sacrifices for music, Ines said I will answer later, she went through the smoky doors came out as Sinead O'Connor and yes she did sacrifice something she actually shaved her head and performed Nothing Compares 2 U, she shocked everyone not just because she shaved her hair off but also how good she could emulated Sinead so well, needless to say she won. Could be worth having a look at her performance for comparison, link down below, but obviously there was only one Miss O'Connor and may she RIP my condolences to her family, loved ones and fans worldwide. xoxo ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VSRpxKL4ghA.html

Ozzy, Vince Neil, Peter Gabriel and Sinead had two different voices come out at once within their "normal" singing voice. I believe that is why they stood out as they did. Just listen to any lyric they sang. It's not a doubling trick.....it's somehow in the frequencies they deliver. It just carries so much emotion that it overwhelms you. Subtle but immeasurable all the same.

Watching this video you just know she is one of the most gifted vocalists and also one I thought would be here for longer than she was. To me she is right up there with Whitney. She did so much with this song. I wish she and Prince were friends because she did so much with this, kind of like this was created just for her to sing. There are many other songs of hers that are outstanding. Sinead was beautifulonly she did not seem effected by it. She did not seem to notice her beauty. I will always think of Sinead as beautiful and a gifted vocalist.
