Omg yes! I’m so happy Olivia adds a story telling aspect to her music! That’s why I really love her songs so far! It’s not about the best or melody but rather what the message is behind each lyric! I actually covered drivers License and deja vu! It would mean a lot if someone gave it a listen! :)
Yes it really is but I’m here for it! I love that it’s more upbeat and how she describes the angry and sad feeling after a breakup! I actually covered this sign if anyone wants to give it a listen! :)
The whole song is so tongue in cheek.. Like she's angry but deflecting with humour and almost making fun of her ex and the 'new girl'. Drivers licence felt like pure grief over the ending of the relationship and that want to have everything back like it was, and the vocals reflected that vibe. This one has a bit more of a 'fuck you' quality and again, I feel the vocals reflect that.. light and airy and kind of mocking in places and then a bit more aggressive in places. I really like it.
I will not like this to keep the digits of the likes to be consecutive numbers. It is currently 123 at the time of posting this reply. Whoever changes the number will be hit by someone with a drivers license.
Haha yes, it’s a really different vibe but I love that she is a storyteller! This song is really good! I actually covered it if anyone wants to give it a listen! :)
Tristan you’re the only vocal coach on here who actually can tell us what the singer is doing vocally and recreate it which proves you know what you’re doing. You’re incredible
Is she from a Disney show? I know I know her but can’t figure it out!!!! Or where is she from? I’m 32 years old and I only watch Disney with my youngest son .... so I’m just curious
I love the scream “I know you get deja vu” bc it reminds me of a Taylor Swift song and I know how much she loves Taylor. It feels like she kinda did it to pay homage
i love that she says "i bet you even tell her how you love her in between the chorus and the verse" and then whispers "i love you" between the chorus and the verse!! its genius !
Her team really nailed it with picking this song after driver’s license. Dan Nigro did amazing with Deja Vu! She’s gonna continue to shine bright with inspiring people around her.
brooo you can hear the taylor influence in those sick little shouty bits where olivia says “everything is all reused!” and “i know you get deja vu!” towards the end of the song. sounds just like tswift’s cruel summer: “i don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you!” once you hear it you really can’t unhear it
@@ejatmosfera3078 no youtube's been buggy. 90,000 people were watching live and it didn't even count those views. And if you checked back hours later it still had 15,000 views but had gained 100k more likes.
I think the girl waving at her in the video is basically signalling that she has been there all along even before she supposedly "replaced" her. So even before her and the person broke up that girl has always been there observing her when Olivia thought she was the one observing her... If that makes sense lol.
She is really "new" in lots of ways. I'm really glad that such a teen girl is doing something so out of the regular, and it's clear her Lorde's influence.
Can’t wait for upcoming artists tbh. The only thing holding them back is probably budget since being a DIY artist is pretty hard. Olivia hit the jackpot with the help of a label and her disney shows. Can’t wait to hear more!
fun fact: she whispered "i love you" right before the second chorus, exactly after she says "i bet you tell her how you love her in between the chorus and the verse" so that's really clever by her part. also, her producer is Dan Nigro! (time stamp: 3:30 its very subtle but its there!)
and by the way, not only did she learn music from Taylor, but also business moves...she owns her music...(drivers license and deja vu...and her merch, obviously she splits profits with her label and stuff, but SHE OWNS IT)!!
olivia is going to prove, again and again. that she isn't a singer that got "lucky" and only knows how to make one "good" song. she has vocal SKILLS, good production (dan) and she knows how to WRITE SONGS.
It’s so wild to me that Taylor Swift has been in the industry long enough now that we have upcoming artists clearly influenced by her but they have their own sounds too. Love it. 👌🏻
@@Youokhun this song's bridge sounds like Taylor's song cruel summer. Its is pretty much the same. Listen to it and youll hear why ppl are saying taylor has an influence.
I can’t believe this is just the start of her career and she’s popping tf off Not to mention she writes her own songs. I only recently discovered some of the stuff she did for HTMTMTS when she was younger and it’s amazing how talented she is.
@@babyaquarius4331 the whole song Olivia thinks she is the original girl and the other girl is just her replacement, her copy but at the end when girl starts waving at her Olivia realizes that she is the one replacing the other girl all along and that that girl was before her and Liv is actually a copy
@@giovanatammy81 not rlly it was more that her watching the girl was Olivia’s perception and her “false” reality. She thought she is the one watching the girl and secretly laughing at her telling her “me and him already did all those things and you are just a replacement.” It was what she thought is happening. But at the end we can see the girl was actually watching Olivia and when the girl started waving at her thats when Olivia realized she was wrong and what was actually happening is that that girl was the original girlfriend and Olivia is the one replacing her and now being watched by the girl that was before her. So when she came to that realization she stopped laughing and got upset and thats why she started crashing the screens
@@leona3237 no I don’t think that’s the case. I think Olivia is watching this girl but , all along, this girl has been watching Olivia hence the picture of Olivia in her room and the girl waving at her. I think the girl has been there all along before she even replaced Olivia and has been watching her trying to get in between her and Joshua.
I think the "not quite hitting the note" thing I think comes from the blues scale. It gives that line a bluesy/soulful undertone, which u wouldn't expect in a poppy number like this with so much falsetto and sonic consonance. It's brilliant writing and even more brilliant vocals!
I like how she’s now being respected as an actual singer and not just some actress who wanted to do music because she really is a lyrical genius and is very talented
Instead of following the line of a sad ballad and using the same formula, Olivia takes a risk and shows her versatility in this second single, her songs without being released (she posted them on her instagram and Tik tok) are excellent vocally and lyrically, so the upcoming album will be a success, I can't wait for May 21 the album have 11 songs
the lyrics ❤️ ppl don’t usually release that many for their first album also all her beautiful unreleased songs that we’ve heard a little bit of have been highly requested to be on the album so I’m not surprised that there is 11 songs !!!
True! Didn't think of it that way! Especially when I've heard a lot of her HSM work and know she has crazy good vocal chops. Instead, she went for something more niche and chaotic vibey and it paid off!
@@tristanparedes totally true, she said that the album has pop, old rock and folk genres, and she think it's the best that can do until now (referring to her age I guess) anyways I think it will show all her potential there, I love you Tristan, thanks for supporting Olivia and for talk to me in this comment 💓
She just sounds fresh and just feels like she’s gonna take over the decade along side with Billie Eilish The Kid LAROI Iann Dior and 24kgoldn. All these super young artists just rising and making some noise is awesome.
This song was bomb! She is so popular from her second song that imagine how popular she will be after her 10nth! Btw Déja vu in French means already seen Tristan! Big fan!
We're only 2 years into this decade and already have had amazing albums like after hours, folklore, and future nostalgia, and then olivia comes out of nowhere and drops bombs like no man's business, I'm eager to see what this decade will evolve into musically, and honestly don't think I'm ready for it
I love how you played the song once to get your first reaction, and then went through it again to explain what she's doing with her vocals. Please continue to do this style of video!
The music video is so fucking cool, and the ending was a nice touch because, like, you're almost sad for the "new girl," and then you see that she always knew and was happy to replace her, and she gladly copies Olivia, like she doesn’t care about the guy but cares about getting back at Olivia.
The RU-vid count for Olivia’s releases are kinda wanky once it premiers. They don’t count the people watching live or views afterwards sometimes which is why it had wayyy more likes than views when first released.
