I did have the honor of seeing Queen at the Los Angeles Forum in 1977 with Thin Lizzie opening. That concert remains one of my favorite concerts ever! I am a very big fan of Freddy’s amazing vocals and to this day I still miss him so much. Even my 2 adult sons and 14 year old grandson are big fan of Queen. BTW, I still have the original Queen t-shirt I bought at the concert! Long live Freddy Mercury and Queen! ❤️

"Those backgrounds"- Yes, Freddie was amazing but we also need to give props to drummer Roger Taylor who was an awesome singer in his own right and did a lot of the high notes in those harmonies.
@krollpeter
@krollpeter 4 года назад
Right. It is Mr. Mercury for the most part, the choir and everything, topped up a little with frills and thrills by Mr. Taylor. Certainly they could never do anything near that live, and Mr. Mercury was live not that kind of a precise singer. On stage he was a diva who wanted to entertain his audience, an entirely different person than off-stage or in the studio.

When people say that Queen wasn’t as good live just means they aren’t true fans, Queen is one of the few bands that, when live and certain songs, live is the way to go. Yes Freddie was extravagant on stage but queen as a whole did even more and better when live.

Great reaction to one of my favourite songs - ever. No matter what I’m listening to at any time , I always come back to this song. As you said it’s every part of the whole which is amazing. The music, the harmonies, the writing , Freddies lead vocals. (I’m a huge Roger fan and as a bonus he looks sooo cute in this clip.). I digress - I’ve always thought the harmonies could be a song on its own and then I hear you say that. Thanks for a wonderful reaction to an incredibly special song. Nobody can do this like Queen.

The album version is good, BUT any of their live versions are amazing. The one from "Queen Rocks Montreal 1981", part of the North American swing for the Game album, is my second favorite, my first was Queen at Madison Square Garden on the opening leg of the US portion of the Game tour in September 1980, no video from that one sadly, but I was sitting in the stands back then. As for seeing them live, twice in fact, was an experience that truly cannot be explained to someone who hasn't had the pleasure. It is one that I have been treasuring for 40 years now.

I'm really jealous.. Lucky you! Fun fact: Montreal 1981 were two shows of it's own and not part of the Game Tour as Queen had visited Montreal for that tour in 1980 ^^ The two 1981 shows were only for the movie, that's also why the setlist is so much shorter than any other gig from 1980 or 1981 :)
@vernhoke7730
@vernhoke7730 4 года назад
@@leondore Actually according to the listing of concerts for the Game tour they played Montreal in August 1980, I saw them in September 28th 1980 at the begining of the US leg, and again on the 28th & 29th of November 1981 where "Rocks Montreal '81" was filmed. The setlist is pretty much the same as what I saw, except they did a brief version of "39" at the Garden the only time they played it during the Game tour.
@leondore
@leondore 4 года назад
@@vernhoke7730 Yes, the "original" Game Tour started in Vancouver (6/30/1980) and lasted until the 18th Oct 1981 (Puebla, Mexico), for the movie they added those two nights in Montreal in November. The setlist was much shorter there, they left out the following songs (taken from the Montreal show in Aug 1980): Mustapha, Death On Two Legs, You're My Best Friend, Need Your Loving Tonight and Fat Bottomed Girls, Brighton Rock.

I saw them in 1980 at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. As awesome as they are today I have to say back then they were Queen the rock group. Yes, I loved their music and I still do today. The funny part is I had to wait until I was so much older to look back and appreciate what I saw. I have seen Led Zeppelin with John Bonham, Van Halen, Yes and the list goes on. Most of the '70s and the '80s were spent going to concerts. I spend so much time on RU-vid looking at reaction videos to see if the person reacting saw what I saw for the first time. There were many bands that you could go see live that actually sounded good. Queen I would say are one of those bands that watching them live was better than the recording. The added their own flair to the song that you didn't get from the recording. I am so glad you appreciated Queen's writing and production they brought to the stage.

Love the channel and your energy and insights! More rock singers! Especially those that aren't the typically gifted vocalists but do more with expressiveness, charisma, and, most of all, uniqueness. A lot of pop singers today are technically great, but there's a certain sameness to them. Just my (boomer) opinion. Keep up the great work!

I would love to see you react to Chris Cornell's, "When I'm down". The Freddie Mercury influence is all over that song.

Please remember with the backgrounds this is pre digital, so if they wanted 3 people to sound like 100, they would have to sing the same line 33 times

I had a chance to see them back in 80s but came down very sick in my senior year in High School. I gave my ticket to a good friend of mine. Who duly informed me They ruined every concert after that for them. When I asked what they meant Cathy said. She felt she had been punched in the face leftvblind and deaf and begging for more!!!

Dr. Brian May is awesome! There will be no Freddie in our lifetime. Brian got his doctorate in Astrophysics.

He was studying Astrophysics at school when Queen became big. He finished his thesis during down time of Queen.

Tara, you should react to Silvia Pérez Cruz, an amazing young singer. It worths every single second, specially performing “María la Portuguesa”.
