Vocal Coach & Songwriters’ First Time LIVE Reaction to Growing Towards The Sun - Hua Chenyu 

This is a promise to a fan request during a live broadcast in 2021. The stage only costs 250m yuan (35M usd) and is the world's first large mirror screen that blend with the surrounding creating a mirage effect. (28 m height, length 109m). There is a main stage+ extension+ home stage. He created a "City of Mars" and with one ticket can watch 2 shows-afternoon & evening. For stadium concert he has a four-sided extendable platform stage and is the first in China. For Sunrise, they crossed 9650km , travel though 6 provinces and watched nearly 30 sunrises before choosing Yantai which is a remote island. He had an opinion survey with more than 500 resdents in the surrounding area as it starts at 3 am. He built roads leading to the venue, renovated existing infrastructure , sift sand to remove gravels, install drainage system for toilets , free shuttle buses (6 digit figures) had art exhibition installed etc. He is willing to spend money for his fans. There were big clouds approaching in the other direction of the stage and rained after the concert ended

Yes, you are right. Hua Hua always serves the song. Conveying the emotions through music is important to him. He once said: All instruments within a composition are equally important. His voice is just one more/another instrument and not more important than the others. All together they foremost serve the song.

Thank you for the reaction to Hua Hua. I heard him for the first time on The Singer, I think it was the 2018 season. He blew me away. I now have a big playlist with him, Charlie, Tia and a few others that I found on The Singer. I don't understand the language, but Hua Hua has the ability to make me dance around the kitchen while cooking one song, and bring me to tears the next. I don't have to understand the language to feel what he's saying. He makes you understand with his singing. He's such a phenomenal musician/singer/writer/producer.

Thanks for the great reaction to HCY Grown toward the sun. I recently returned to US from my first HCY concert in HK. I am over the retiring age and I have been in so many musical concert in my life, but this one was a totally amazing/different experience! HCY is an artist in a league of his own. A combination of David Bowie, Prince and Freddie Mercury. No one else comes close in recent years. Great singer, composer, arranger, fashionista, show director, etc.. He brings new concepts musically plus new concerts ideas. Great stage, pyrotechnics, sound and many big screens so everyone inside and outside the venue could watch him. "Grown Towards the Sun" is a musical concept that started from an idea, follow writing a song specifically for that occasion and building a huge concert stage from scratch so all his fans could enjoy the experience of watching the sun together. There are many musical festival/concert that run through out the night until next morning: all with many singers (ie Loolapaloosa, Rock in Rio, etc..) but none done by a solo singer/artist specifically for that purpose. Genius! Looking forward for more reaction to HCY. Bullfight, Madhouse, etc. Each song was conceptualize with a message and a new experience musically.

Huahua sang this song in HK with beautiful moon presence. And there's fireworks too. The experience was just as spectacular and mind-blowing.

Thanks to Throga I have become a big fan of Hua Chenyu. His Sunrise concert was so special and grand. The concert at Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong was unimaginable too. I hope to become a real Martian by attending a future concert!!

Another Hua's beautiful/powerful song of hope is "You have to believe this is not the last day". Which he wrote during the lockdown for all people affected by COVID-19. He performed the song on Singer 2020 in a small studio setting. Can't imagine sharing this special sunrise event with Hua and the Martians. There is a special video on creating this event to come to fruition. They mentioned that Hua's concert cost sometimes is in the negative. The team is about giving Martians the best experience. God Tree in white outfit is one example of stage setting that will wow you. It's on the Hua Chenyu English Sub.

I couldn't agree more with your opinion about this song. Actually, the song "Growing to the Sun" was published last year, which is a shorter version. The sunrise concert was just a concept or a distant destination at that time. My first impression of the song was that it was a somewhat typical commercial pop song, compared to Hua Hua's other compositions such as "Illusion and Reality." Even though he explained that he composed it specifically for the sunrise scene.He also told us, at the beginning of the song, there should be gradual emergencies of the lights in the sky and by around 2:17, we could already see the sunlight and then at 2:45 during the lyrics "shining brightly," the sun rising above the sea level...... I couldn't imagine it at first, so the song wasn't on my top list until the sun actually rose during the concert, perfectly timed with the song. I was shocked! It's perfect for complementing the magnificent moment. And the new part he composed, "the shattered mountains...," had never been performed before. This part is absolutely perfect! Hua Hua is such a genius at expressing emotion through music. I love him!

Darn, I missed the live. This is such an uplifting song, a panacea for the soul. The first time I heard this, my eyes welled up and I didn't even understand most of the lyrics...the melody struck a chord in a part of me that didn't realise it needed soothing. I, and lots of others out there I'm sure, am very grateful to HCY Eng Subs and other translators for the thankless work that they do with such care and love. When Richard mentioned how poetic the lyrics were, I could only nod in agreement and yet, the original in Mandarin is so much more poetic. While Hua Hua does not write his own lyrics (with the exception of "Why Nobody Fights" and "Conversation with Martian Children") he works closely with a small handful of lyricists to ensure that his ideas/intentions are conveyed fully in his songs. I have a song request, a first for me on any channel here on RU-vid - QI TIAN, the theme song he wrote for the movie Wukong, because Wukong is my favourite character from the Chinese classic, Journey to the West. The one from Singer 2018 is great, and so is the one from his 9th anniversary concert...heck, any version of Qi Tian would be an awesome one 🌸🌸

hello, so glad you guys streamed this haha! it was truly magnificent. Anyways, he writes all the melodies for his songs and has arranged some of them in his fifth album. Otherwise, they are arranged by Zheng Nan, whom he favours in musical collaboration as he says Zheng Nan understands what he is trying to express in his music.

Great reaction and thank you for spending time to do this. Hua composes all songs in his 4th and 5th album. While he composed some songs in his first to 3rd album. He works with lyricists to express what he wanted to convey in his songs. You might want to check out his eponymous composition in his debut album "Quasimodo's Gift". Hua somehow linked that song to another song "Ashes from Fireworks" or "Dust from Fireworks" which was composed by Xilou but Hua asked a well-known lyricist from Hong Kong to write the lyrics. He made a mini-movie for the two songs. Hua said that he isn't very good with words so, has worked closely with many lyricists to write for him. As for arrangement, he has been working very closely with Zheng Nan (Bernard Zheng). You will find Hua's name together with Zheng Nan under arrangement in the credits for some songs. For this particular concert, Zheng Nan acts as the music director. Hua also got the rights to Aurora's composition "Silhouettes" back in 2015 and Hua released it as "Escape from Utopia" in his second album "Aliens". Sorry lads for the lengthy write up. He will always surprise you. I will sadly never get to a live gig but from what I’ve seen they are the most epic stages I’ve ever witnessed. The songs suggested to you are all great. However, I’d like to point out that Madhouse is pt2 of a trilogy so it would be best to start at the beginning with ‘I really want to Love this World’ choose the longer live version for the introduction, then Madhouse which ends with the opening notes of Conversations With Martians, again choose the longer version for the intro.

yes, he does write great hook lines and choruses, in a lot of his songs - so his Martians can join in with the singing... love it! If you'd like to experience a totally different Hua (in attitude, in sassyness, in confidence, in true Rock Spirit, and with another great hook line everybody enjoys) look out for "I Don't Care" from the 'Singer' show 2018. THE most elegant and convincing way I've ever heard somebody raise a musical middle finger to all those head teacher-types and philistines! Same Teen Spirit can be found in "Immortal", but at a neck-breaking Punk speed ... Hua Hua is so versatile!

For bullfighting you can watch the mv since he rarely does mv, his mars live concert especially the light and dancing choregraphy and his TV shows on produce camp and singer. All are amazing with different feelings

Huahua's songs are not mainstream in China. The mainstream is that the melody is simple and catistic. What he does is some niche. The avant-garde. Experimental. There is depth. Those who like it like it very much, and those who don't like it will roar on the Internet. He said that he didn't sing well. But ordinary people can't sing his songs.
