The video seems sped up, indeed. It seems that the key was altered as well. I don't know if this was to prevent any copyright issues or whatever, but I'm sure it doesn't sound as the original.
@@no-ln3nm I know the studio version since I play it non stop each year 😁 and this performance definitely sounds weird... or different, say. Mariah's runs have never sounded like this, not even in her prime. I think we lambs know her voice. Maybe it was dubbed and the audio was polished (as we know this is a common practice).
It doesn't look like it, but Mariah was 43 in this video. This performance is awesome. It was the only time she sang the adlibs in the bridge, as Michael was singing the lead vocals.
Voyage Fest You mean falsetto? LOL she doesn’t use head voice, and she still has resonant mid-belts, and 5th octave notes as-well. She may be occasionally inconsistent due to her nodules, but not purposely.
Daydream Um, I think she does, but could be more connected (head voice is another weakness). The last few G5 notes in “All I Want for Christmas is You” are in head voice, so is the C#6 in her Eurobest Hero live show which is her highest supported note in live performances. It’s with vibrato, but people say it’s a bit strained.
Voyage Fest She doesn’t use head voice at all, it’s mainly because of her nodules. She only has an incredibly airy, but pleasant falsetto register. A good head voice would probably be Whitney’s lol.
Daydream I agree that Whitney Houston’s head voice is golden, so is SoHyang’s & Lisa Fischer’s (especially Lisa’s). But I do think Mariah Carey uses head voice which is distinguishable from her falsetto register (comparing the note “you” in ‘I Will Always Love You’ with the same word in ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’). Her head voice though as I mentioned is less connected than what it should or could be. Of course, she does melismata in falsetto as well. You may check out some professional vocal critics online (especially from a channel called “Legendary Vocalists” & Sam). I agree that the two have different vocal configurations which result in different tonal feelings. Sometimes, the boundary is blurred.
Great video. It was interesting to get the reaction from a musical professional. As far as I'm concerned Mariah is the greatest singer alive today, she's marvelous.
As I've always said, style is mostly an effect of a musicians limitations. Michael doesn't attempt to sing with a ton of creativity because he can't. Michael's strength is his timbre and his ability to make a song personal to the listener. His is more the style of Sinatra and Nat (though unfortunately for him, not as good), hers is an R&B, gospel style. Two different schools. It seems here Michael is just a little intimidated by Mariah. Mariah though is such a songbird at low levels.
Of course it’s dubbed for audience noise and it’s on live tv. I’m sure it sounded the same undubbed her voice was was incredibly healthy agile in 2013. She sang this a chapella w jimmy Fallon around the same time and sounded amazing
Great Reaction! 😘💚 Kindly react to Mariah's performances. My All and Make It Happen (VH1 DIVAS LIVE) I'll Be There (VH1) Emotions (MTV Unplugged) With You I'm Born Again (VH1 with John Legend) Joy To The World (Live at Cathedral) Love You and God Bless 🙏💚😘
Yazik do u have a girlfriend or boyfriend.. heheh im not joking. I have a crush on U! Please notice me 🙏🏻 I dont sing but i can listen to u singing all the time☺️
Maybe in some parts of Europe but in Asia, most especially the Philippines where Christmas begins in September. Her Xmas albums and All I Want For Christmas dominate both music stations. In Thailand, drag queens would do Christmas shows that centers on Mariah. Even Muslim countries Malaysia and Indonesia would play All I Want Christmas Is You. 😁
I don't think it is. AIWFCIY is the best selling modern-day christmas song, only second overall behind Bing Crosby's "White Christmas". It's the most streamed Christmas song in the world. It's currently topping Spotify Charts in many countries in Europe and North America. And it is the best selling single by a non-Asian artist in Japan.
