As far as transitions go, the most impressive is when a vocalist transitions from head voice back into chest/mixed without dropping support. My fav transition is in SoHyang's Arirang Alone wher she goes G4(mix) -> G5(head) -> G5(mix) -> a descending run without ever dropping support or losing resonance. Mariah's extremely precise flips from mix to flageolet notes 2 octaves higher are also deceptively difficult to do because she makes them look so easy.
Let's wait for The snowball She has so many better, more difficult transitions, like the one in Fate, where she first runs up to B5 in head voice, then descends and gradually comes back into mix very seamlessly.
Mariah Carey is definitely the queen of transitions, in space of a word she went from chest to whistle and then to head. What an instrument is that voice.
my favourite from chest to head voice: Celine, sohyang, Lisa Fischer, rachelle williams, Mariah (of course), Beyoncé from chest to Whistle: of course MARIAH, chante moore and morisette Amon!
Their is no doubt and everyone acknowledge her *Queen of VOCALS* Mariah Carey she able to switch PERFECTLY -chest to falsetto -chest to headvoice -chest to whistle -chest to low register *Queen of Angelic Headvoice* Sohyang & Whitney -chest to headvoice -mixed voice to headvoice -(super) upper register to headvoice 💐💐💐
Based on my opinion, Mariah, beyonce, morisette, tori kelly, celine, and debelah has the cleanest, smoothest, and fastest transition. Holy fuck they're so good.
Mariah is no doubt the queen of transitions. even my dear loved sohyang admires on how Mariah is able to transition. I would say second would come sohyang after Mariah. sohyang has some of the best connected transitions I have ever seen. so clean and connected. this video of her doesn't singer justice. arrirang or everyone should have been used.
falsetto and whistle actually are disconnect so there are no way to truly " switch" from mix. But we can change mix to falsetto and whisle with super fast speed and that still sound awesome. and Mariah Carey is master of that And the transition of Sohyang from upper 5th octave in mix to 6th octaves headvoice is flawless
Actually Mariah's head voice and whistle are not connected because she never had the vocal training for that but someone like Debelah Morgan who has Coloratura Soprano training can execute a vocal runs or glissandro from chest to head/falsetto to whistle If Mariah had the appropriate Coloratura Soprano training she would have understood her voice better
@@blackmamba3429 I'd advise you to get off your little high horse, drop being delusonal and kindly piss off. Nobody does quick/smooth transitions like Mariah. Yet another pressed insecure Whitney fan again.
@Power Blade there's more to then just chest and head voice 🤦♀️ when it comes to transitions. Open arms, long ago, forever>>>>>> the transitions in those songs
@Power Blade soul and Emotion is subjective. Nobody else transitions as smoothly or as fast between different notes/registers like Mariah does. Lmao stay pressed
Mariah careys transitions are so smooth because they're a heady whispery mix, therefore connected to her chest better than a pure headvoice, which makes it 2x more impressive.
Ailee, Sohyang, Park kiyoung, Lisa Fischer, Leona Lewis, Bey ... They are awesome. And lightning speed switch to falsetto and whistle of Mariah always insane
Rachell Ferrell literally pulled off the most advanced stunt of vocal prowess I've ever seen and it sounded perfect. Her tone isn't to my taste but it's easily overlooked when I hear the technical perfection that went into her voice. It's honestly amazing how well she knows her voice.
Those Transitions of Mariah was soo effortless and free flowing and very seemless. She's truly the queen of anything agillity, melisma or runs and riffs related.
7 sorry ariana cannot put up a fight mariah's translation from chest to falsetto/whistle is awesome and sohyang's hv is amazing and angelic however what ariana has, is just the bad technique
TRIVIA that’s a lie , her technique isn’t really all that bad , it’s just not perfect and it’s people like you who cause many misconceptions to the newcomers
Aida De la cruz Oh please.. Lowers the larynx to sound darker and heavier, raises larynx to reach high notes which is in her OWN song. That's pretty much a fucked up technique hun.
Morissette is a newbie in the industry and she is this good already! Amazing! I am excited how great she becomes come more years. Mariah and the others are great no doubt
Park Ki Young is operatic - very nice! I've always admired Lisa Fischer in "How Can I Ease the Pain", Whitney in "I Will Always Love You", Sia in "Chandelier", and Debelah in "Close to You" - Colouratura Legato Arpeggios from Chest Eb5 down to A4, Arpeggioturas Falsetto C5 up to Head D5 - F#5 to Whistling Vibrato F6, then Eb6 belt. Mariah, Minnie, Chanté, and Georgia ...enough said. Morissette is very capable.
*(1) There's a difference between a vocal 'switch' and a vocal 'transition'; (2) Minnie Riperton, Lisa Fischer and Debelah Morgan use head voice, even though it sounds like whistle register; (3) Beyoncé is amazing; (4) Mariah Carey's performance of 'Forever' is a veritable master class in vocal excellence. Not only does she 'switch' between chest voice and head voice; but she also repeatedly 'transitions' between mixed 'whispery' voice and chest voice/head voice with perfect pitch accuracy. This is one of the greatest performances in modern music history.*
William Slater not in her case, Lady ahaha is weird but still understandable, This woman just makes unreasonable and crazy noises that take away from the song
Oh no correction. She's the very best head and whistle. There's none that belted a chest voice like Whitney Houston. She was called "The Voice" for that reason, Mariah is the 'Songbird' which she became queen of AFTER MINNIE RIPPERTON died.
The best? Tori, Mariah, Beyoncé. I'm not surprised considering they're all (untrained) Coloratura voices. EDIT: Classically trained. Of course they've all been trained to a degree, but none are trained in a classical manner. Gdi.
Christina Grimmie is a real princess, she was amazing and so young, beautiful inside and out. Sad her passing to soon. She will always be remembered and loved by her fans and dear family. 💛 #ChristinaGrimmieForever.
im sorry but nobody transition throughout their range like mariah so smoothly . some singer when they transition they have disconnected falsetto or head voice or whatever part of their range. thats just my opinion

taufiq aris transitioning smoothly does not make you better, it's purely a stylistic choice. I prefer to have a clear break when i transition because i think it sounds better that way
taufiq aris LMAO, you don't even know what transition means. Mariah transitions very rarely. She flips to disconnected registers like falsetto and flageolet (whistle). Granted, going from chest/mix to flageolet so easily is very commendable, but it's not a transition. Some examples of masterful transitioning to connected head voice: Whitney's IWALY, Star Spangled Banner; Beyonce's Halo, Love On Top, SoHyamg's Arirang Alone, Dream.
falsetto and whistle actually are disconnect so there are no way to truly " switch" from mix. But we can change mix to falsetto and whistle with super fast speed and that still sound awesome. and Mariah Carey is master of that
I love Morissette Amon & Mariah Carey... It sounds good, pleasant to hear.. Clear and Clean.. Smooth... 😘😘😘😘😍😍😍 MA & MC..... When it comes to Whistle Register..
Daniel Bento A flip is a quick change in registers without going through the passagio. Almost like a jump to the other register. Look at Carey's final whistles in this video, "SHINING ST-*FLIP*AR." For the opposite, listen to her song Underneath the Stars where she glides between Headvoice and chest voice without flipping but instead smoothly drifting between the two.
MARIAH CAREY the One and only DUH. She's the Greatest Female singer. She can do everything your faves could never. In this area her transitions were freaking FLAWLESS.
I Worship Gays And Satan i don't think so bro if it's your opinion then you have aaall the right to say what you want....i really love so hyang like i listen to the bitch EVERY DAY but she's not the best at transitioning from chest to head or falsetto...we have lisa fischer on one hand who transitioned from a chest belt to an above F6 that sounded like a whistle Don't look further leona lewis is the queen of transitioning from chest to head or falsetto and christina aguilera too
Sami kurosaki But the admiration of Sohyang is that he makes these transitions to a higher record for example in the song Hero makes a B5 (mixed) then C # 6 (head voice) and ends in B5-Bb5 (mixed) O.o
Sami kurosaki yeah I'm talking literally like her headvoice and belts are extremely welll connected, in arirang alone, she goes into headvoice towards the end in brief seconds and flows down to normal register with out break. Artists like Lisa Fischer (love her) have that break and don't have connected voices which is fine it's really difficult to achieve. I'm talking about literal seemless transitions
Ariana usually sounds like a joke when she's in a video where titans like Mariah, Beyonce and Whitney are included, but in the particular video that was chosen here she did not only sound good but amazing, even better than Xtina who is someone I stan a lot.
