Oh, come on. I don't think people should be saying "the best". PMJ has so many great female singers. Ariana Savalas is wonderful. Morgan James, of course. And Aubrey Logan is simply phenomenal. And there are so many more. Haley has a beautiful husky voice and a great range and this song was simply made for her. I can't imagine anyone else singing it. I recommend PMJ versions of "Burn" and "Bad Romance".
This isn’t just a cover, it’s a masterpiece!!! Haley is so underrated, she’s great, specially in these more “jazzy” songs. Here are some suggestions for you, both PMJ with Haley and Haley’s own songs - enjoy!
The anecdotes about this keep piling up. One says she was quite tired, and wanted to stop recording. Scott Bradlee asked for one take, and this was it. One wonders if it was his insight that in her state, this time might be something special- and bingo.
You got it! Haley Reinhart IS all that, and then some! This performance and interpretation of "Creep" was and IS outstanding. The song has been often sung by many artists, but no one has come close to the electricity exuded by Haley Reinhart. We have been a fan of Haley Reinhart from the time she was on the 10th season American Idol tv competition before recording "Creep" with the Postmodern Jukebox musical organization. In addition to having a super smooth voice, although she did not write "Creep", she is also a superb writer of a huge wealth of compositions. It was a pleasure to watch the above reviewer appreciate, absolutely, Haley's huge talent.
Sometimes you think you have a good idea what a good singer is, and along comes someone that resets the curve. It's a masterclass performance. The way she just quickly brings it from a belt to a close with the soft innocent minor resolve just kills me everytime. Serious respect for Scott Bradlee,(piano), the genius behind PMJ, for the artists and the arrangements.
100% the best version of this song ever put on wax!! Phenomenal!! She also covers Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes and Black Whole Sun by Soundgarden with Post Modern Jukebox as well. ALL Top Notch!
Haley is such an incredibly well versed and naturally intuitive singer. One of the best out there with natural talent as she can growl, belt high notes and sing softly as well as whistle. Its crazy. Definitely check out some of her other stuff!
Every singer has their preferred tools. Some show up with nothing but a screwdriver. Some have a full range of wrenches. Some have a big hammer they can drop when they need it. Haley Reinhart shows up with a big old rolling toolbox full of vocal tools.
Haley is a unique talent. Her range, her control, her expressiveness.... She is a consummate performer. Post Modern Jukebox is an incredibly fun rabbit hole all on their own: It is the brain child of Scott Bradlee (the pianist), who arranges and re-imagines contemporary songs in older, iconic styles. They don't have a permanent vocalist - each vocalist is chosen to fit the "new" style of the song (or vice versa). Scott Bradlee's arrangements are amazing - this song is a perfect example of that: the way the band supports Haley's amazing voice when she really lets loose, and then backs off and gives her space when she settles down... PMJ is an amazingly gracious project. I have discovered so many phenomenal singers through PMJ.
Haley is a vocal acrobat. The first time i heared her i was floored, and i still haven´t got up :) I would suggest another PMJ song she did wich is Black hole sun originally done by Soundgarden. Seven nation army is also very good and let´s not forget Ooops i did it again, all with Haley ofcourse. And may i say that i really enjoyed your reaction, you were shocked several times and your facial expressions said alot. I´m subscribing for more. Stay safe.
Great job with your reaction to Creep from Radiohead Cover by Vintage Postmodern Jukebox feat Haley Reinhart . Sofie you have a great Voice and you look stunning in this video.
I SO appreciate the RESPECT you paid this performance. Every time you started to react - verbally - you’d stop because the performance was just too good to interrupt. That’s just so… RARE. I subscribed immediately after the song finished. 🤗
Haley was on season 10 of American Idol- She sang more pop and rock on the show. She has done several covers with Postmodern Jukebox including Britney Spears Oops, I did it Again, Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun, White Stripe's Seven Nation Army, Meghan Trainor's All About That Bass- Her singing is amazing
Haley was sick when this was recorded and didn't want to perform at all. She was talked into doing it anyway and did it in one take with no rehearsal !!!!
I've yet to see or find a source for this 'sick' rumor. The "about" video with Scott is where he explains she was tired from performing so much. No mention of Haley being ill or sick or any such, only her voice might have been tired. If anyone has an official source, such as Haley, Scott, or band/crew member stating she was ill, please post it. Otherwise, this will stay as an unsubstantiated rumor. But, OMG if this was Haley with a tired voice...the possibilities of her marvelous talent when her instrument is fresh and rested just boggle the mind.
Thom Yorke has an amazing, brilliant voice. The reason covering "Creep" is so scrutinized is because of the amount of soul and emotion Thom put into singing it. In my opinion this is an amazing version, Hailey and PMJ (Scott especially with the arrangement) nailed it, better than anyone else who has ever covered it. I wouldn't say it's better than the original, but I would say I like the original better either, they're... different, built for different moods or moments.
Thats what PMJ does, take the current, turn it vintage, they do it well! Haley is one of my favorite singers, not because she sounds like Lara, Morrisette or Sohyang, its the uniqueness, Love it !!! Please react to Haley's song, " Don't Know how to love you ". Thanks❤🤗⚘
Kathy here - just found your channel. And to get to see you react to Haley Reinhart, the reaction on your face and your smile said it all. You loved it as much as I do. She is amazing. If you want to hear more from just Haley, check out her performances on American Idol. She didn't win but should have. I just think she was not "wholesome" enough for the show. I think she is amazing. Thanks for your reaction and look forward to more.
Scott Bradley's Postmodern Jukebox does a variety of different vintage style covers. Add them to your watchlist for sure! If you watch different PMJ videos you'll find even more awesome vocalists. Haley does other songs, Robyn Adele does "Thrift Shop" and more, Sara Niemitz does a number of songs and became one of my favorite solo artists...
"whatever makes you happy" .. well knowing Haley is around today and giving her talents to the world, that is what makes me happy. Haley is phenomenal, sultry, captivating and pure.. i adore her for sure, and talking about that high a skill... check out Morgan James (any song she did with PMJ, its all great.. oh and ofc check out more Haley :D )
Haley (and PMJ) recorded this song 5 years ago and it is one of her absolute best recordings! Her voice is incredible and her style is fantastic! Haley has taken part in a number of PMJ (PostModern Jukebox) recordings and is lovely, sexy and sassy in all of them (see "All About That Bass" or "Seven Nation Army" for example). I just love listening to her (as well as other singers from PMJ) and hope you will do more reactions to her and them... Thank you!
Scott Bradlee (piano player) is the genius who created this jazzy version of the song and got Hayley to sing it. Post Modern Jukebox is his creation. He's beeen doing vintage versions of modern songs for many years. He's a classically trained jazz pianist and doing vintage versions of modern songs started out as just a hobby for him, then tried doing a RU-vid video of one of his arrangements and it took off from there.
As someone else said she was on season 10 of American Idol and placed 3rd. I remember watching that season and just being captivated by her voice. I saw on another reaction video that she did this with PMJ while in Europe. They said she didn't want to do it but they persuaded her to do it. They did this in one take, no editing or anything. She is such an incredible singer, her voice is smokey, sultry & sexy.
That was a fun reaction. Haley Reinhart was the best ever to ever perform with PMJ. As everything she did was excellent, but two more performances really stick out as a cut above and that is her covers of Seven Nation Army and Oops, I Did it Again. As her cover of those two tunes will blow you away. So hopefully we will get to watch you soon reacting to those two tunes.
@@ernesthakey3396 View counts don't lie. As Sara's video with the most views is not even close to Haley's video with the least views. Sarah is a fine singer, but she is nowhere close to being in Haley's league.
@@theblackdog2399 dude, did I claim Sara was better? No, I didn't - I said I really like her. Wtf is your problem? They are both great. Sara's youtube channel has had over 25 million views, and I've been enjoying Sara's live sessions on FB. The fact that I happen to enjoy her voice is just that, a fact relevant to me. Back the f off and ket people enjoy what they enjoy. Never did I say a single word against Haley, I'm just encouraging the reactor to check out other PMJ stuff, so lighten up.
Haley Reinhart has many songs on her RU-vid channel she would probably be very famous if she didn't want to stay independent. Check out PMJ 7 nation army featuring Haley. Great reaction .I always enjoy your reactions to songs , thumbs up 👍 to you
You are not alone in your assessment. I haven't been living in a cave--just avoiding the LSM--but this is the only version I've heard...or ever want to hear. Add directly to playlist.
That’s what Scott Bradlee does. He takes songs and creates a completely different type of arrangement, frequently a Jazz standard type of arrangement. Post Modern Jukebox is well worth delving into.
Welcome to the world of PMJ and Haley Reinhart. They did this in one take during a day off of their European tour. They had already recorded All About That Bass (71M views) and & 7 Nation Army (42M views). Scott asked Haley about Creep (89M views) and she worried her voice would be too tired. He said he thought they could get it in one take and this is what you get. (total 202M views from one days work...!)Also, she uses no autotune or any voice enhancements. If you see her live this is exactly what she sounds like. All About that Bass should be next so you get to meet Morgan James (the most powerful female voice I have heard in a long time) and Ariana Savalas (daughter of Telly Savalas of Kojak fame). Casey Abrams does the intro and plays bass. He was on Season 10 of idol with Haley and they have done a lot of music together. He does Umbrella and it's awesome.
I've been following Haley since American Idol 10 or so years ago. She is crazy good. A JAZZ artist. Recently released original album Lo-Fi Soul with several really good songs including "Lay It Down", "Honey There's The Door","Don't Know How To Love" and "Shook". Post Modern Juke Box has been around for a while and cleverly re-make songs in a jazz style with various lead singers that are sometimes even better than the originals. LOVED your reaction and hope you review more of Haley Reinhart and PMJ. Thank you.
the arrangement is straight outta' Tin Pan Alley.....you better sing, girl!......feels like a jazz club in the 1950's....PMJ just finds all the great singers
PMJ (Post Modern Jukebox) takes current songs and spins them back in time to the 20's-60's genre's. They and the vocalists that perform with them are amazing!! Haley(one of the best stylistic vocalists we have today) and Morgan James are my 2 favorites but there are so many. It's a rabbit hole lol. Haley also has her own music, Lay it Down, I don't know how to love you, and more.
PMJ is a plethora of modern songs done with different styles from the 20's through the 70's. Scott Bradlee is the genius behind these arrangements and really doesn't get enough credit in many of the reactions I watch of their stuff (the performers are all great, but he gives them great stuff to work with).
My sister. I am a trained singer as well. I only wish I had the variations and range she has. The vabrado, the highs, the lows and sustainability? Wow. Also… Just being perfectly honest she is stunningly gorgeous. I think it’s her mix of the music and she does not need to be vulgar or wear hardly any clothes. That was so classy. God I felt like I was in a 1940s club somewhere. I’m so glad that I watched. Thank you.
Can you believe that this recording was the first and only take they did? By the way, I would consider Postmodern Jukebox a project. The person behind it is Scott Bradlee, he is also playing the piano in this video. He arranges modern songs into all kinds of older styles. The singer(s) and the musicians vary and Haley Reinhart is probably the most famous, followed by Morgan James. But PMJ has a lot of other videos with different singers worth checking out. They have a doo wop version of Hanson's "Mmmbob", a vintage 50s version of "My Heart Will Go On" or a vintage torch song version of Fiona Apple's "Criminal". The list is long and a lot of them are worth checking out.
This was done in one take. React to her 7 Nations Army video with same band. PMJ They take classic rock song's and turn them into Jazz They look for certain singer's for certain song's. Another great one is All about the Base Great Reaction as always Stay Safe ❤️ Looking beautiful as always ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Darrell is absolutely correct ! PMJ "Dream on" with Morgan James that will also BLOW your mind. FUN FACT: Haley was quite ill this day. Scott was able to convince her to give to give it one shot. She SHREDDED IT!! Scott Bradlee is the core , and founder of PMJ. 😊 12
Nice reaction, you sounded pretty good as well from what I could hear when you sang along in parts. Haley is quite talented. If you want more of her in Post Modern Jukebox then listen to her sing Seven Nation Army, Oops I Did it Again and also Love Fool. For a real treat watch Post Modern Jukebox version of All About that Bass with Haley, Morgan James and Ariana Savalas. Haley and Morgan also do a really nice acoustic version of Dear Prudence from the Beatles.
Ok, I am gonna put a contract out on the person who put a thumbs down on this!! Even if you are deaf you have to give this a thumbs up! What the hell! Haley Reinhart is amazing! Also a lot of fun, and I have not seen one bad reaction from Sofie - she's adorable. Is this Trump's fault? A Jazz elitist?
This version is wildly impressive, particularly her command of the dynamics of the song. What's missing is some of the implied rage of the original. Substituting for the "F" word really drains the song of some of its menace. Even Thom Yorke admitted that.
I love your reaction videos. Thank you! Could you please react to Hailey singing with Jeff Goldblum My baby just cares for me. It is a Nina Simone cover. The vevo Video is priceless
PMJB is a loose collection of artists. While many groups find old music and adapt it something more 'modern', PMJB takes newer songs and styles them to past eras or musical influences. They do this with different instruments, sets, costumes and aren't above throwing in a tap dancer or two.
