In this fourth VODcast we talk about the climate conditions in the growing rooms for the small urban mushroom farmer. Should you use air-conditioning systems in yur growing and fruiting rooms?
Check our blog for more information on urban mushroom cultivation.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Rotterzwam believes in a society that closes cycles, uses raw materials to the maximum of their potential and consumes more green than animal protein.
We do this by working together locally, regionally and internationally to stimulate and facilitate the production of mushrooms on local residual flows.
The result is a wide range of products and services related to mushroom production, awareness and lovely snacks based on vegetable proteins.
We believe in open source and have been sharing info on small scale mushroom production since 2013. Some we share for free, some for a fee. ;-)

MUSHROOM SUPPORT
Being an entrepreneur means making decisions and facing a constant flow of challenges. Farming mushrooms means you are working with a natural product that does not act in predictable ways.
When you are facing these challenges it’s a comforting thought that you can bounce ideas with someone. That is where our experience can help you. When the challenges arise, you can plan a skype or phone call with us.

Hello. Totally agree with all said in the video! And with the design of the air-conditioning system provided at Rotterzwam blog. I just wanted to add, as well not native English language speaker, some key words and my own observations.. Maybe someone will see it and find it helpful. The unit type described in the video, called AC, is "heat pump air-to-air" type and the one from the sketch at the blog is a DYI "heat pump air-to-water". There are tons of materials on it online so I will not focus on their features and differences - key note is in the video (just, really, don't put AC into your fruiting chamber)! What I want to point is the DIY design of "air-to-water" provided on the Rotterzwam blog. In one sentence - This is the way! :) I'm saying it as a user of not-DIY system, which is fine and doing the great job but.. Its totally possible to DIY it. Why to DIY when there are ready to go setups? Well.. 1. It will be cheaper (second hand elements, less strings attached to HVAC company for service, etc.) 2. Getting better understanding of heat exchange system = independence. That can save you time and money (specialist can charge a lot per hours, self fixing will be cheaper) 3. Getting ready-to-go system, will be easier at the beginning (all effort to install it on HVAC company and in case of problems - guarantee with service)... but most likely it will be for household purposes. What that means? -> some elements of the system may not be necessary/ needed /used during operation of mushroom cultivation, but still need to be paid for. Additionally there may be a need to add something to that system for better performance when using it at mushroom farm. With all that, in my opinion, there's no clear answer to the question - "DIY or no to DIY?". There are prons and cons of both and that has a lot to do with the everybody own context that will deal with all small (and sometimes unique) details. Definitely recommend checking Rotterzwam design and getting to know more about it, to have bigger overview on the matter (to know all the options available). Greetings from Oslo:)!
