Tawny....help please...i litterally get approached by random strangers on a weekly basis commenting on my voice...asking if I do radio or voice work. Then they encourage me to pursue it but I do not know where to start. Any advice?
I sometimes forget advertisement voices are real people in a studio and not an extension of a corporate hive mind 💀. Though in the future it’ll probably be AI so they dont have to pay people
my side effects may include a list of horrible things that took 2 full minutes to read, but they're gonna speed it up so it occupies less than 20 seconds of time!
@@JasonUrI don’t think they mean losing control of their voice. She is very good at manipulating her voice to sound like so many people and tones. At least that’s what I think this person meant by it, I could be wrong
@@JasonUrYou try imitating the Text-To-Speech style read. See how long it takes for your tone of voice and your cadence and rhythm to start going all over the place.
@@JasonUr Control of your voice means being able to skillfully change your pitch, resonance, and basic tone overall at will, most normal people have basic control over their voice, some pitch control, little resonance control, etc. whereas voice actors have relatively complete control over them.
Probably the fifth time this video has come up for me, but I didn't realize until now how she's leveraging the proximity effect at a different distance for each tone. Like damn that's some real attention to detail.
wait.. so like "Writing's not that easy, but Grammarly can help. This sentence is grammatically correct, but its wordy, and hard to read. It undermines the writer's message, and the word choice is bland."?
I have heard you on commercials multiple times. You are the reason I switch radio channels. You are the reason I use ad-block. You are the reason I show up 3 minutes late to the cinema. You are the reason I pay for my spotify. You are the reason I do not watch regular TV anymore. You are the reason I avoid watching american sporting events. You are the reason for so many of my daily choices. In other words, you have made a huge impact on my life. You can be the judge as to wether thats a good or a bad thing
Like, I _knew_ that professional voice actors are excellent at their jobs, but actually SEEING it made me know it on a whole different level. It really sucks that they often aren't given the respect they deserve in the acting industry.
It’s because literally everybody can do it. If you actually train your voice every day for a few months, you can sound like a professional. That also means that it’s a very replaceable position. So it kind of makes sense that they aren’t given the same type of respect in the acting industry because McDonald’s workers don’t get the same type of respect in the restaurant industry. If you want respect as a voice actor, you have to play an iconic character rather than being a generic voice, like this video shows. All of these types of reads are so common that it’s not impressive.
@@coasterthekid8867There are so many people that have annoying accents because English is not their first language, sound too nasally, or the pitch just isn’t right. I’m a professional vocalist and it takes years of professional voice lessons (singing) to have control like this when speaking.
@@DeborahE7 it only takes years if you’re not putting the adequate amount of time in each day. It’s just like working out. You’re not gonna get ripped if you workout for 30 minutes every other day. And yes, everybody is different, for example if you have a Wisconsin accent God bless you because I don’t know how you do it, but the nice thing about living in modern day is that there’s a lot more editing tools to precisely tune your voice. So you don’t even need to be perfect anymore as long as you can make it perfect in the post process.
Actually, voice actors having been both earning _and_ saving movie studios gobs of money for decades by enabling them to cast one voice actor to fill numerous roles in a single production, and most times, getting equal or _better_ performances out of them than they'd have gotten out of a live actor with a "name." Voice acting is its own unique, specific, and impressive skill; a lot of live actors aren't actually that good at it. coasterthekid, what voice actor hurt you? And what voice were they using while they did it? Asking for the lols.
It's absolutely amazing how you can completely change your delivery in every way like you're just changing channels! You make it look easy. That's how we know you've got incredible talent.

I am sure part of this woman's talent includes the ability to go from one attitude to another or even create a new sound on the spot. I used to run commercial VO sessions and these people are truly talented.
I've absolutely heard you in every advertisement I've ever heard every year of my life. I'm 32 years old, so it's incredible you've been working that long.
Right?? It was actually really impressive how my brain just went "this video is dubbed" even though she is the source of where that TTS dubbing would've come from
