More elaboration on my points! 3:29 - When I mention that I have previously messed up a bad take on purpose. Depending on who you work with they might discourage this as they like to piece together takes. I wouldn't get in the habit of doing this for every bad take you do, but I still do it for time to time depending on how badly I messed up the take. 4:19 - When I say English, I mean English speaking not a person from England. 5:02 - When working on Japanese titles, more often than not in the Japanese dub of Japanese animation, they won't match the lip flaps as strictly as we do here in the West. The Tidus scene being labeled bad voice acting has always bothered me because it's supposed to be a fake laugh to lift their spirits, and it's followed by actual laughter which sounds more convincing Final Fantasy X has really good voice acting in general

The Tidus thing I that he's literally forcing himself to laugh (as Yuna's suggestion), to cheer himself up. He's *supposed* to sound bad, especially when the other characters look at them weird and they both laugh, followed by Yuna saying "maybe we shouldn't laugh anymore". It's purposeful and I hate that people take it as a bad voice acting example.

I hate it when people take the tidus and yuna scene out of context. It's supposed to be stiff and awkward because they are FORCING themselves to laugh despite their horrible situation. If you watch a few seconds after they stop fake laughing you can hear them ACTUALLY laughing and it sounds fine. For a fake forced laugh it's actually pretty good. People often take that scene out of context and it's so annoying.

The Final Fantasy one was pretty clearly "forced laughter" in context.

The Titus laughing was actually supposed to be that way. He was trying to comfort Yuna about something I can't remember. But the cool thing is the va for Titus actually joined the joke and even said "It's meant to be bad"

I'm pretty sure there was an element of self-awareness to the yugioh dub if that season. There were mentions by other characters that broke the forth wall, I think in the same episode actually. Cyrus says to Jaden "You know I carried that water for 2 whole episodes Jai". So I beleive the Mammoth voice was entirely intentional. They were meme-ing xD

The Creation Kit also allows you to voice act right into the interface in one unedited take when adding dialogue, and I can't imagine them making that a feature just for mod makers. It's possible that's how some of the Oblivion lines came to be, from voice actors not being briefed on how it worked. On that note, I'd love to see a voice actor review mods with bad voice acting. There's partially a pass on them not being professionals- but some of them certainly have the ego to deserve being knocked down a peg.

Crappy voice acting is so nostalgic though, because you’re right, definitely a product of their time. Reminds me of my childhood 😂 the 90’s at least.

For FFX, the context of that scene is important. Tidus tells Yuna that even if she's not happy, she can always try to make herself happy and then proceeds to do the fake laugh. It's supposed to be awkward. It's like people never played the fucking game

So fun fact, the scene where Tidus and Yuna laugh in Final Fantasy 10 is really taken out of context. The laugh isn't supposed to be an actual laugh. It's Tidus expressing his anger at the situation he's put into. Yuna suggests that he try laughing to vent so it's not supposed to be a legitimate laugh.
