@@MichaelFeyrerJr I NEVER subscribe to people who start off touting for subs. I sub for the content of their channel, not for the bleating and the weeping of their analytics, before I have even seen any "content". In fact, it's SO anoying, I subbed just so I could *UNSUB.* Ten times! How do you like THEM analytics? {:o:O:}
Im a recent subscriber who started taking streamer a bit more seriously. Your videos on OBS and Davinci Resolve have helped me so much. I just want to say how thankful I am. (Even 2 years after this was posted)
Ironically it forced me to leave almost immediately, I felt like I was being yelled at like an advertisement. I only make this comment because he asked for feed back right before I tapped out. Subject matter is good, the delivery was not for me.
You literally give the best advice, and instructions. You have changed my video recording technique and cannot wait to implement all of these ideas. (the voice synthesizer plug in vid was great. thank you)
Hi Michael, greetings from Singapore. I've been subscribed for a while. It occurred to me that your OBS tutes are quite original, both in choice of topics and clear delivery. I never really thought about voice changers with OBS before. Kudos. Keep them rolling.

GVST makes some other nice, free plugins too. I use their noise gate all the time (along with Equalizer APO, which enables "real time" plugins before the mic sound even reaches the Windows audio driver), to block ambient room noise while recording. It's a huge advantage, as you show, that OBS can use VST plugins.
Great Video, thank you. One think I would add, is that we should start with the second Plugin the .exe one as this one is going to create both folders for vstfolders. And copy the GForm later to it.
Just found your channel and I am very glad I did. Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your knowledge and insights on great applications and helpful information. So please keep up the awesome work and I promise to keep coming back for more and sharing your video's with as many people as I possibly can because you definitely deserve it..👍
I'm doing a 'tabletop' RPG with my son and his friend over Zoom. I've been using text-to-speech websites for character dialogue, but they're hard to understand and don't allow for emphasis and inflection. This is MUCH better, although it'll take me more time to setup properly. We have our next session in a couple of days, so I guess I know what I'm doing tonight. :) Thanks Mike!
Ive beeen into music production for years and not "Once" did i think hmm i wonder if i could run some of my VSTs!!!!! amazing brother!!! im going to develop on this idea i reckon as i have many plugins for music so wondering if i may beable to run some FL plugs etc too to really mess with the voice :) thx again!!!! should have thought of this as i use editing softwares too that have VST compat yet i never thought about it for OBS!!!
Thanks! I used both this and the updated version of this video to add my own voice changers. This is so cool! Can't wait to make ppl enjoy them while they listen to me talk on stream! :DD
Hi Michael, I love your channel. I am new to OBS and I am trying to follow your tutorial. I copied the DLL files but when I try to paste them as you show on your video, there is no VSTPlugins folder either on my Program Files or Program Files (x86). I tried to see if there is any software that creates that folder but all I find is tons of .dll files. Do I just create a folder with that name or do you know what I need to install first? Thank you. Julio
Excellent video. There is a steep learning curve, at least for me. It's free, the whole setup is free. Having said that it's way beyond useful and something I plan to use. Thanks.
Thank you for this! You tipped me off to some great alternatives for the vst reverb that I have. I had no idea that these could be used for creating vocal effects in OBS! I have been using them in my vocal recording but did not know some of them could be used in OBS. Great advice, thank you! I am having a problem with adding the lua files to the OBS folder. I can't seem to do that. For some reason my computer won't let me do it. EDIT: I had to give permission, they added just fine.
Program Files (x86) is where 32-bit stuff is stored; Program Files is for 64 bit. It's probably not a good idea to copy the same .dll in both locations (32 bit programs might try to use the 64bit dll and give weird results/errors/crashes).
People should definitely subscribe to your channel. I love your videos and the way you talk, your content is REALLY useful and objective. Congratulations on your wonderful work, mate :)
Hey. Great video. In the filters menu theres no option at all to select vst, all i have is Gain Noise suppression Invert polarity Noise Gate Compressor Limiter and Expander, I have loads of vst's. Do i have to install a seperate software to make VST show up in the menu on a Mac. Thanks.
amazing video! is there a way for example to hear the low voice only and not my voice through my blue yeti mic? If i go to advanced properties i can turn audio monitoring on so i can hear the low voice filter but i also hear my own voice. If theres a way to add a hotkey that triggers monitoring a filter or any other filter without hearing my own original voice then that would really help me get in tune when playing a character. Hearing how you sound to your audience can def help improve your performance and allow you to better adjust to any parts u feel aren't up to par with your performance Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated, keep up the great work! Subbed btw^
I know what you mean krow, I spent hrs today trying to figure that one out. As far as I can tell there is no way. Also, The effects in obs will only work in stream or recording. Players in game will not hear the effects with only using obs filters. You must use something like voicemod and set the keybinds (hotkeys) there, and set voicemod as your mic in obs and in your games mic settings. Then you can toggle the effects on/off so the stream/recording and players in-game can hear it. I spent hours setting up hotkeys and vst effects in obs using only obs, just to find out players in game won't hear it, and I can't hear my effects working live. Then spent hours more after learning about voicemod setting it up with my interface and voicemeeter. I have yet to test the voicemod effects in game with players as it got too late tonight. Looking forward to tomorrow after work to test it out more. Let me know if you found any solutions of your own. 🍻
Could these plugins be used in audio recording software for someone wanting to record their dialogue for animated shorts as different character voices and not just OBS or is this ONLY for online video streaming???
I came into this video for one thing, but you just let me know we have the same issue, and our channels go into completely different topics. Our analytics show 92% of our views comes from NON SUBSCRIBERS! At least we now know we are not alone in this, thanks Michael for the video because OBS is what we use and like!
Trade secret: the 92% is actually a really good thing. :-) it means youtube is sharing your content with a wider audience. The lower that percentage gets the less growth you will have.
These are so cool! Definitely subbed so I can see more of this wizardry you do! I wonder if there would be a way of toggling these voice changers to a stream deck too! :)
I'm glad I found this, I dounloaded obs studeo earlier to record my videos free sence I can't spend my parents money but still wanna make good videos, and I'm starting to do them on my computer, and since I wanted to do a voice changer 8n my videos, this really helps with that, and its really helpful, makes my night, I appreciate it, and I'm sure other people who want to do this will aswell
@@TNinja0 You can have a virtual camera in OBS and that can include audio, which can then be picked up on by other software. Not sure if there's a mic specific standalone though.
it will work in game, you have to set your in game mic to "voicemod", or whatever program you want voicemod to be in. Only the obs mic filters won't work in game and are only for stream/recordings
Great explanation - Thank you! Do you have any suggestions for software to help one of my coworkers who is a talented sales person on the phone but has a strong accent which makes it difficult for some to understand her? Maybe an accent reducing plugin or something similar? Either way, your video was helpful. Thank you.
First thing that puts me off subscribing to a channel is hard sell. I will subscribe in my own time if I like the content, but in this case I will never find out if I like the content because you got right in my face in the first few seconds.
is there anyway to have your microphone speak through obs because i want to have people ingame or on a discord call with me to also hear the voice changer
In answering your Subscriber question, I find your overexcited voice like at the beginning annoying but your explanative voice like around 4:04 really nice to listen to. But I overlook the annoying sounds (to me) because the content is worth listening to. So with that I subscribed! and I'm jealous because I think my own voice is too drone like and I watched this video thinking I could perhaps tweek my voice a bit.... Hopefully!.
I feel like this is video is more for intermediate users not beginners. I was seeking a simple voice changer for Discord and thought this might be a good alternative, but being a complete noob to sound affects I went to copy into my VSTPlugins and didn't have one!
You're absolutely right , most voice changers suck for everything except cartoon voices, and this is another example of one that sucks for everything except cartoon voices. However when you did the girl voice and turned everything on full, it did sound like the vast majority of COD gamers :-)
