Voice Teacher analyzes SWV @ their TINY DESK CONCERT 

Coko is THE definitive VOICE of the 90s to me. That tone and delivery influenced SO many other singers

They sound just like the recordings. SWV really deserve their flowers!

Come on! they are the ultimate girl group, they look good and sound great and Coko...she doesn't get enough credit for being one of the greatest sopranos.

I KNEW the audience (including us watching from home) would be singing along for 'Weak'

This Tiny Desk was amazing. Lele's voice is distinct and I can always hear it. Taj always holding it down with her part - a singer!! And Ms. Coko made some intentional choices with her phrasing and other choices with moving her voice that were masterful. OOOOOWEEEEE!!!

Love that Coco has her son with her, doing backgrounds and a solo!

The audience was on point. I love it. It's a testament of SWV's influence.

I got my life on their tiny desk concert, the background singers, proud of Jalen like he is my nephew. Taj gave us everything as a secondary singer, she showed up and ate the mic up

I needed them to sing use your heart for taj I need them to sing if only u knew for lelee and the other songs are coco but them are my songs I love to hear them have their moments on cause iykyk lelee and taj do they thing on both songs that I mentioned

SWV gave me my life. It was a whole sing-a-long in my car. I was a little off key, but still.😊 THEY SOUND GREAT AFTER DECADES & shout out to Jalen (CoCo's son) he is awesome. That soft T was so smooth as this song was too & her maturity singing Rain Down On Me is bone chilling. One of my favorite Tiny Desk Concerts. And the back ground singers diiiiid that. WOWWWWWWW

I agree about Lelee. I enjoyed her announcements throughout the concert. All three play a pivotal role in the group. All three are needed. 💛

I’ve always been a fan of how they had interesting chords in their music while singing mostly easy-to-follow melody in the verses. Of course with the vocal harmony work going in between those two layers.

This was amazing, my only complaint is the vocal mics should of been turned up a bit more, cause the live instruments are louder and you can miss some of the nuances and style choses they made with runs/riffs if you’re not keen or watching for them… they get lost in sound in a few places. But still stellar performance from one of my all time fav girl groups.

Y’all ain’t gone make me feel like I was the only one Coach Jaron had scrunching their face when he broke out with the fancy term of “polyphonic”. I wasn’t ashamed to google it. Here y’all go 😂😂😂. producing many sounds simultaneously; many-voiced.

This was amazing!! Such great voices! For some reason this reminded me though: We need some Maxwell analysis. Not This Woman's Work, falsetto Maxwell, but just Maxwell in general. That man sang with such articulation, he embodied every note he sang. So much air too, words just flew out his mouth in such a smooth way. And his vibrato? Hmmmm

I remember Coko stating in an interview that she had surgery on her vocal cords a few years ago. Maybe that’s why she sings a little breathy. But she still has an amazing voice.
